Got about 20 plants here today for my drought resistant dry grass areas (plants in the black mulch). I can't say enough good things about how helpful and informative the staff were. I was greeted as soon as I entered and immediately offered help (I'm not the savviest) They helped me choose plants based on my vision, they even staged them to show me plans for how to plant them, and offered the most competitive price in the South Bay. The pricing was unbelievable - the haul I left with would have easily run me 3-400 at Home Depot - I spent less than $200. They also helped me load my car and lined my trunk so it wouldn't get dirty. These people are professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly and I cannot recommend them enough. I will be back for all my landscaping from now on. I'm a newbie gardener and decided to visit them after seeing all the great reviews. The entire staff was knowledgeable and kind. We met the owner, and the son as I had questions about landscaping and choosing the right plants. We bought a dozen succulents and we are having them do the planting so that our plants have a chance from the get go! This place is a little hidden. I drove past, and it piqued my interest. They have a wide selection of house plants, which I enjoyed browsing. Their plants were all in healthy condition. The employees were helpful and nice. I was impressed with the prices since the smaller plants were pretty cheap. Some of the cheapest I have seen compared to other nurseries I have been to and 3-5 times cheaper than a regular plant shop. I bought four plants and they accepted credit cards. read more

If you live in the South Bay and you're looking for a good price on nice succulents, make this your last stop. Located beneath the power lines (natch) just off 190th west of Crenshaw, this is truly a wholesale operation, with very little signage. The greenhouses are right there, and most of the plants are cultivated on site. This also means that the pot will never match the plant and there are no consumer-friendly instructions tags...that's all extra in this world :). What you get in return is good prices on beautiful, hand cultivated plants. Most 1 gallon succulents were $5, including Kiwi Aeoniums and Paddle Plants. The single, large 5 gallon flowering blue rose echevaria we got was $12.50. Better choice of healthier-looking succulents than even Centeno's. There are more than succulents, but that's what we were focused on. Margie (the owner) is very helpful and friendly. Only thing that keeps this out of 5 star territory is that if you show up when she isn't there, it's hard to get any service. At. All. Best to call ahead. read more

I really liked this place the moment my feet touched the earth there- The plants are just real. By this I mean they seem perfectly happy and healthy and a small staff that has to cover a large nursery can't always be timely with transplanting a bush growing out of it's container- its totally understandable, nothing seemed neglected. And one could say that most importantly, the nursery is keeping little bugs away and you will enjoy what leafy green you bring to your home. The prices are great. My family owned an orchid farm so I have some sense of rates and care costs. I will make this one of my first stops when I want to add more green to my house. read more

I can't believe it's been over 4 years since I first purchased bushes and plants from Torrance Wholesale for my gardens. Everything has grown in nicely and I still pull out of my driveway and stop to admire how nice everything looks. Margie has been very helpful in teaching me how to take care of the bushes and trim them back when necessary. I recently visited the nursery to get some plants for a small garden. Margie walked with me around the nursery to give me ideas of what could be planted in the area that does not get full sun. I settled on some succulents and hardy flowers. They had a very large selection for me to chose from and the prices were reasonable in relation to what I've seen at other nurseries and Home Depot. My sister wanted to get some succulents for container gardens. Margie had some container pots that were reasonably priced. She bought a couple and we will be going back to get the plants. I wouldn't buy my plants anywhere else. Margie always gives me the time to answer all of my questions and that is something you don't usually get. What can I say that hasn't been said already. This is such an amazing nursery, especially for landscaping, fruit trees, flowers and succulents, not a lot of trees. I was looking for a Japanese Maple, but no luck. This place is located right in the cut, between Prairie and Crenshaw. It's secluded yet somehow feels wide open. I brought the kids and we walked the grounds for about an hour, my youngest said "Wow, look how quickly time flies when you're having fun because that only felt like 10 minutes." She loved the succulent selection. The ladies that work here are so sweet and helpful, they stuck around to water the plants and let us stay a little past closing time! :) The prices were the icing on the cake. read more

Visited this place with good critics in Yelp and was super disappointed last Saturday. This place has lots of succulents throughout the yard and enjoyed looking through to find some items that we wanted to bring home to fill in our Cactus and Succulent collection. When we picked one bucket that caught our eyes and took it to the office to find out the price, there was no one inside the office working. Looking through, we finally found a gentleman in the yard and asked for the pricing. He said he had to call his owner and came back. He said he can't sell us that pot because that was the last one they had and need to use it to breed. Disappointed, we went through looking for other plants. Then, with a surprise, there where over 10 pots with same cactus that he told us he can't sell us. We decided to take a smaller pot instead. We continued searching and gathered multiple succulents and cacti that we decided to purchase. When we asked to tell us the price of what we picked to the same gentleman after waiting for our turn, another Hispanic lady worker jumps in and took out one of the pots we picked by saying "This is not for sale! This is mine!" What the heck? why would you display non-sale item along with the rest and waste our time? What does she mean by "This is mine!"? If that pot was hers, why was it mixed in with the rest of the plants that were to be sold? We were thinking that she did not know that they carried that plant and when she saw it, she wanted to keep it herself. When we complained, she started talking to us in Spanish and we had no idea what she was saying. Then, she took out her phone and called someone and started speaking in Spanish. She handed me over the phone after a while telling me that it was the owner. I got the phone and the owner says it was not for sale. My response to here was "why would you display items that you won't be selling with the rest of the pots? We spent over an hour to pick the pots we want to purchase and found out that we can't buy it." She apologized but it wasn't enough to cool me down. The same Hispanic lady, then, quoted one of the pots as $8 when the other gentleman told us it was $6. When we told her that the price quoted was lower than her price, she spoke to the gentleman in Spanish and walked off. Now, back with the same gentleman to calculate the total. We have been to many nurseries in Torrance and I could not believe the treatment we received, especially that lady! Where did all these good comments come from Yelp? I will admit that they do have more selections than we have seen from other places but this experience makes us, me and my wife, wonder if we would ever want to go back there again..... If you end up going there, expect the worst service from that LADY!! read more

Another great place to pick up succulents, especially if you make arrangements. They have a wide range of sizes with the small plants starting at just $1, you really can't beat the price. There are rows and rows of plants. It's definitely better then buying your plants at a Home Depot type store. If I could rate Torrance Wholesale Nursery higher that 5 starts I would. I wanted to purchase privacy hedge bushes for my backyard. I called between 12-15 nurseries to compare price and labor costs. Needing about 16 bushes, (15 gallon, 6'), I received quotes between $40 and $300 per plant plus labor to plant them. After speaking to Brian, the owner, he was at the lower range of these quotes and labor was very reasonable. On the day of delivery Luis and Lorenzo showed up on time with beautiful healthy plants and they had a great attitude. They took care in planting the bushes exactly as I wanted them. I also needed my irrigation sprinklers updated. They suggested that I speak to Brian and if we agreed on a price they could return the next day and do the work. Brian's price for the sprinklers, (drip system), was reasonable. Luis and Lorenzo returned the next morning and did the work. They helped me set up a fountain and did an excellent clean up job. I literally cannot express how pleased we were with this job. Luis and Lorenzo also provided watering and trimming instructions. If you need plants do yourself a favor and call Torrance Wholesale Nursery. Tell them Larry from Manhattan Beach sent you, haha. read more

With all the 5 star reviews, I thought I stumbled across the wrong location when I drove up in the middle of a residential area. From the outside the place looked dead and a lot of plants looked severely dehydrated or in need of water. I found the entrance (10am on Tuesday morning), parked what seemed to look like a driveway, walked around a long time to find the only person there. I asked for herbs and veg plants but she said "sorry, no" so I'm not sure if she understood me. As I was walking back to my car I saw a lot of tomato plants, green leafy veg and some herbs. I just got an amazing deal on dymondia to replant my entire parkway for the drought tolerant garden program. Not only were the large flats a good deal, but Margie (the owner) had enough in stock (25 flats of 49 plugs). NO WHERE else I went (insert list here of every major nursery and home improvement store) had anywhere near enough in stock and they were all waayyy higher in price. I will be returning to Margie to finish my lawn-to-garden landscaping needs (just about everything I wanted was there and she can order stuff that's not in stock -- yes most nurseries will special order for you, but after my experience with Margie today I'm happy to drive 25 minutes just to give her my business).
