The good: I came by here with my in-laws and husband and browsed all of their plants. The worker there was friendly and offered help. We came to look at their fruit trees mostly but ended up enjoying their vegetables and flowers as well. They offer many Japanese plants. I liked how natural the space felt and was kind of like a wild garden. The bad: I didn't get to see their gifts or non-plant items. The interesting: They're family-owned. Rip off - won't deliver what you paid for I paid $250 for a 15-gallon Banana tree. All research and competitive nurseries list a 15-gallon dwarf as being between 6 and 8 feet tall. This is a hidden gem! We are so close to sunflower farms, but not sure How I never noticed it! We pass by it all the time. When we arrived, we met Paul who was great! He was down to earth and super patient with us. We wanted to grow and plant a variety of herbs and fruits, but had a lot of questions on how to care for them. He answered each of them thoroughly and we learned so much about gardening. We ended up picking up a few things: fig tree, okra, strawberry plant, basil, and lemon grass! Such an adorable nursery full of plants, cats and friendly staff! We went looking for a couple plants for the front and backyard that we could add to keep away the mosquitos in the summer. We were assisted by Diana who gave us lots of examples of plants that would do the trick and smelled amazing. Her energy was so happy and positive it seemed like she enjoys her job and that made us want to ask more questions and buy even more than we had initially planned. We chose a couple lemon verbena, another that we already named mojito after its name sake, a bushel of lavender and one that's supposed to attract baby butterflies just for fun. We also picked up some of their mulch to give these babies a real chance. I had been wanting to get a couple indoors for our bedroom plant stand so I looked around and found two beauties for the collection. I am now so excited to see them grow *fingers crossed* We were given very detailed info on how to best nurture all of them but we were invited to give them a call if we had any other questions. We took our nephew and niece and they each got a small succulent on the house to get their green thumbs going, which was such a thoughtful gift. I hate to write this review but I have never felt such rude vibes from an employee before. But the last time I visited a younger male employee was extremely rude. I love plants and wanted to grab a few for my house and I thought to call my friend at the time to see if he wanted me to pick up so beautiful plants as well. So as I was browsing their amazing selections I was letting my friend know what types of plants they had. Then in the corner of my eyes I can tell this employee was watching giving off annoyed vibes. I don't know if he thought I was trying to steal but to even feel that vibe coming from an employee was just so annoying. This ruined the whole experience. I should have left and bought nothing but it was such a beautiful day and I couldn't resist. Please do better and make people visiting feel more welcomed. For this I will not be returning to purchase plants from this place again. read more

*2020 Pandemic review* Visited this place during one of the hottest weekends of Southern California. It was a pretty warm day..like in the 90s! Yeah that's hot for us near the ocean! Anyway, we stumbled upon this place driving down the street and thought we should stop by. It's a pretty nice nursery. Considering the heat, all the plants and shade actually made it feel cooler and more vacation like. They have a huge selection of plants and they all seem pretty healthy. Russell, the owner, is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. And he's the 3rd generation owner of Sunflower Farms. You can tell as soon as you walk in that he really cares about nature and plants. He was super helpful in showing us around. Sunflower Farms is quaint but sports a variety of plants. The location is also larger than I expected. I have to say there was one recently hired worker who was really on top of helping me throughout the process of picking out plants. One of the downers for me is the pricing in plants and the availability of some of the indoor selection was sparse the day that I visited. The nursery itself is lovely; a walk through this environment is immersive and feels like a forest filled of greenery. I would also like to express my gratitude towards Keleyn, who went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. They were well-versed and extremely knowledgeable about plants. They went from educating to providing recommendations for someone that has never cared for plants before. Such a serene place to be :) This place is like a tiny paradise in the middle of the city. When I first walk-in, I was immerse with vegetations and sweet fragrant smell. I felt like in a movie set of Jumanji lol. They have different kinds of flowers and plants.. you named it and they're gonna help you. Their customer service is outstanding because workers really pay attention to their customer's needs. They are happy to help us and they seem to enjoy what they are doing, as well. Just good vibes overall :) I already went here 3 times for plant/flower gifts. Whenever I come by Payton always there to assist me. Payton is my favorite worker around here because she is very knowledgeable and always greeted her customers with a smile. Overall, one of the best flower/ plant shops I have recently been. Parking: There's parking inside the area, so no need to park on Western! This huge and beautiful nursery has whatever you are looking for. They have a lot of garden vegetables, trees, flowers, cactus, fertilizer, seeds, and just...all kinds of plants! Sunshine Farm plant nursery is my go-to-place in the South Bay to get my plants. I don't like going to massively corporate stores to get my plants since most things there are so boringly generic and not taken care of so well. Sunshine Farm has a great selection of starter vegetables & herbs in the spring & early summer. I always buy their tomatoes such as Momotaro, Golden Cherry, Sweet 100's, etc. Also, they have a well-stocked collection of flavourful Japanese vegetables & herbs such as Nasu, Myo-ga/ginger flower, Shishito-, Mitsuba, etc. I bet you can't get those at the nearest Home Depot. I also like their vast array of roses that also include the rarer heirloom varieties that have varied, extremely fragrant unusual blossoms that sometimes look like peonies. There are also trees, fruit trees, shrubs, etc. They try to create a more natural, organic looking setting for their nursery instead of having everything in straight rows. The various environments there invite you to wander around to find some botanical treasure. Wendy is a great resource for suggestions on what to plant depending on water needs, terrain, climatological locations. Her staff is generally helpful & friendly. Plus there are convivial cats around who find this a little piece of paradise and greet customers who find them appealing. There is a dog there too who is a bit shy for those more inclined toward canines. Great place to buy plants in peaceful greenery, away from the corporate hype, hustle & bustle where most of the sales people have no idea about plants in general. 4+ Yelp stars. read more
