I agree with one of the previous customers -- it's a bit pricey for a 20 minute ride. The interior of the helicopter left something to be desired. The seats WERE NOT Luxurious. It was advertised as a romantic 23 mile flight. It sort of felt like we were riding in a Ford Kcar and definitely not a Mercedes or Cadillac of helicopters. A glass of $6.00 champagne was OK but hardly a romantic getaway. I was actually expecting a box of chocolates or even a red rose in the cockpit. Or even a pilot in a white captain's outfit. The pilot pointed out a couple of obvious landmarks. I assume if you are not from Cleveland his narration may have been a little bit more valuable. When we were back safely on ground, my wife pointed out the the pilot was looking at his smart phone in one hand while flying the helicopter with the other. Yes, that's unsettling. Again, it made for nice experience. Unless they come up with some additional amenities I personally believe that this will be a one time only experience with this company.

The only problem with the experience was with the customer service. And this seems to be an on going issue that has not been fixed yet. I spoke to three different guys in an hour and got different answers from them all for what was an easy fix. They were rude. They were passive. And honestly cheapened the experience. If it was possible to give less than a one-star review, I would. Unfortunately, I will have to…read moreselect "one star" which they don't even deserve. First of all, their website indicates that they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a complete sack of crap since out of the numerous calls (and left VMs each time) I have made over a span of three days, they have answered three times total. Secondly, there is no way to make ANY changes to your reservation unless you call them, and as I mentioned previously, that is easier said than done. Lastly, they managed to completely screw up my booking and charged me close to $400 for a tour I did not get to do, and because they are impossible to get a hold of, I can't even get a refund from them (I am giving them till Monday and then getting in contact with my credit card company). A day before the activity date, I booked a dinner cruise online since my friend was coming to visit me in NY. After we booked it, I realized that it was NOT the dinner cruise I wanted. We wanted the Bateaux and NOT the Spirit of New York. I finally got a hold of someone and they changed my booking and said it would be confirmed the next day. By 10:00am the next day (the DAY of the tour), the booking wasn't confirmed so I called them AGAIN and was put on hold for 22 minutes while they finally got it confirmed. I got an email voucher that ended up not even having the correct check-in location. It just said Pier 61 instead of the kiosk on Pier 60 where we ended up having to go. Upon check-in, I was told that I was confirmed for the Spirit of New York instead of the Bateaux, even though that was what I paid for! After 10 calls over two days with no response, I finally got a hold of someone who said that they would need to "investigate" if I went on the Spirit of Bateaux. I told the agent that I would wait while she put me on hold to call them and after some stuttering she said that it would take "days". Rather furious, I told the agent that I would just call Spirit Cruises and make a conference call. Which I did. And even after getting confirmation that I DID NOT GO ON THE BATEAUX, the agent STILL insisted that it would take days to authorize a refund. I will be contacting my credit card tomorrow if no refund is made. Seriously, I will NEVER EVER book anything with City-Discovery EVER again and will be sure to tell anyone I know to avoid their website like the freaking plague.

They advertised a 4 hour tour (http://www.city-discovery.com/washington/tour.php?id=4105) that stopped and let us wander at: - US Capitol Building - World War II Memorial - Jefferson Memorial - Vietnam Memorial - Lincoln Memorial - Korean War Memorial - Iwo Jima Memorial - White House - END AT: Old Post Office What we got offered when we showed up was a 3 hour tour that stopped so you could look from the bus at the various monuments and you could get out and wander around 3 of them. No dice City Discovery! If I get my money back easily I'll be surprised and let you know here.

I texted the owner to ask if there was anything they could do to process a partial refund (I knew a full refund was off the table). This is not a three bedroom unit- two futons, two horribly dates and nasty stained futons do not constitute beds. If you are over 5'6" you will need to crane your neck to fit in the shower. This is a very old basement that someone has attempted to make decent for sleeping quarters. Everyone shares the yard and porch, so if we were to have stayed in the middle unit, i cant imagine a restful sleep there either as the porch is partied on all night. There were 14 people in the top unit, 6 people in the middle and the 5 of us in the basement. The person that owns this property also owns the houses on both sides and it was party central all weekend. If you are bringing your kids, or want relaxation, there are better places to choose than this location. As a lodging owner myself, I just have to add that the bed sucked horribly. Comfort def is not first and foremost.

Because of the AA influence, it's seeing incremental, yet noticeable, increases in sophistication over time. Mind you, it does not have the affluence-driven refinement of Sedona or the themed attraction of Frankenmuth. But there's something interesting beneath the surface. There was clearly a rather large manufacturing base at one time but those factories are long gone. There are reminders that are still visible on Evans St. Empty spaces along railroad tracks show concrete remnants of former parking lots and buildings. Quaker Oats had a facility there at one time, for example. Tecumseh is representative of small town Upper Midwest America. There's not much for visitors looking for bling and excitement, but it has a lot to offer anyone looking for a low-key, relaxing day. The shops downtown continue to become more interesting over time. A favorite of mine is Boulevard Market where you can pick up cheeses, wines and other wonderful goodies that add a touch of sophistication. Hopscotch Kids is a great store for kids while J-Bar is a fun hobby store to peruse. Pentamere offers some interesting wines (try the Plum Wine). My wife likes Second Chance Consignment where she can find some decent quality stuff at good prices. There's also a seasonal Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. By the way, there's plenty of parking in the lots behind the storefronts north and south of downtown. Beyond shopping, the neighborhoods are fun to walk. The late-19th and early-20th Century architecture has largely been preserved in the three or four blocks west and south of downtown. The mature vegetation adds to a bit of that nostalgic feeling of taking a stroll through time. But none of it is staged for tourists...it's a real, lived-in, people-going-about-their-lives place. Those are fun places to observe and, if you look closely enough, you'll find those subtleties that make each place unique. The architectural highlights include The Samuel Temple House, the James McAllister House, the Musgrove Evans House and the Elijah Anderson House. As you stroll, if you want a place to rest and just "be" for a while, have a seat on a bench in quaint little Hotrum Promenade Park. If you like to be waterside, stroll north to Evans Park where you can look out over Red Millpond. Walk east from there to Standish Pond with its small dam. If you feel up to it, walk the path down to Globe Mill Pond which features its own little dam. As mentioned, there's not much in the way of touristy stuff, but the interesting little Tecumseh Historical Museum housed in a 1913 Gothic-style former church is open from April to December. It's a great place to learn a little more about Tecumseh and its surroundings. The Southern Michigan Railroad provides nostalgic train rides between Tecumseh and Clinton. It's a fun change-of-pace activity that the kids will enjoy. Probably the best attraction for outsiders is the Fall Applelumpkin Festival that transforms downtown (as well as a satellite site at Kapnick Farm) into something of a carnival. There are lots of artisan vendors, food trucks and kid's activities (including Monster Truck and Helicopter rides). As far as eating, there are more choices than might initially meet the eye. The most out-of-the-ordinary is the British Tea Pantry, where you can have Tea Time replete with finger sandwiches, or a lunch that's on the lighter side. For something more American, try the Chicago Dog House where Midwest sandwich food dominates. Basil Boys is one of the better pizza and sub places in the county. But they're low key and their dining area is strictly a convenience (explicitly self-serve...clean up after yourself). One step up in formality is Tecumseh Brewing Company where they serve pretty good pub grub. If you want a heartier meal, one of JR's three area locations is downtown. It's a good steakhouse with fair prices. Sal's on the western edge of town in Busch's Plaza is a pleasant, cozy place to get an Italian-style meal. If breakfast is what you want, City Limits Diner behind the downtown shops to the north is a great choice. And if a buffet is your style, Big Boy in Busch's Plaza still offers a decent salad bar. Musgrove is a great coffee stop downtown, while Tecumseh Bread and Pastry serves lovely treats, especially cinnamon rolls. Overall, Tecumseh is a pleasant but work-a-day town that offers a glimpse into everyday life in this area of the country. There are limited things for the tourist. It's mainly a place where spending a day means that you integrate with the local flow to experience the quotidian niceties available to residents. If you live nearby or are passing through, hang out for a few hours to see if you agree with my assessment.
