Chai Latte
Kacey T.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Jewel box cafe is a super cute option for anyone looking for something with a unique element from other cafes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have specialty crepes here and many drinks to choose from. You order at the front and I got a chai and a veggie crepe. The crepe itself was super filling and have great quality veggies. I do wish that all of the vegetables were more spread out evenly and they put pepper on the top and it was a bit too much for me. The chai was warm and comforting and I really enjoyed. The workers were also nice and I spent a couple hours in there studying and no one complained. I am excited to come back for their paninis!

Black Milk Tea and Chai Latte

Drinks - the drink selection was good and I really liked the blended chai boba I got. My partner got the normal milk tea and liked it as well. The boba was well done here - not too squishy or chewy. The chai was really tasty! Service - very speedy and efficient! When I asked for a recommendation of boba or chai they recommended a blended chai with boba. That was perfect! Ambiance - it's kind of a cute and interesting little spot. Not a ton of seating but it has a fire place, books, and a few board games you can take over to the booths and tables.

Food was overall pretty good and the service is pretty fast as well so if you're really hungry, its a good short wait. Their panini comes with a side of your choice of pasta salad, garden salad, or chips which I think is pretty nice. The portion size for the sandwich are pretty big and good for two meals unless you are super hungry. I didn't try the crepes but I was told it was really good especially the savory ones!!

Cold brew, light cream, extra bug??

Could this accomodate a party of 11 or is this too cramped?

Probably call ahead and see if management can accomodate. There's a room off to the left or if weather cooperates, you and your group could take all the outdoor seating.

I love Hechalou Tea House! Went for the first time on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty empty…read more The decorations are reminiscent of the neon lights at an Asian night market - super cool. The girls at the front were so friendly and nice - they made my experience great. Service was incredibly fast. The drink was ready before I even finished paying! I got the toffee milk tea with matcha jelly at 30% sugar and 70% ice. This was the IDEAL combination. Perfectly sweet with a hint of the bitterness from the tea. The matcha jelly was firm and earthy, I broke it up with the straw and it was the perfect topping. One of the best milk teas I've had in a while. I will definitely be back to try their other flavors. I'm a huge fan of the tea jelly toppings and it's so refreshing on a hot day.

The boba here is perfectly chewy and sweetened. I am not much of a jelly person, but they're pretty good too. I once got a drink with both boba and jelly and it didn't leave much room for the tea, so I have to limit myself to one topping now! The black tea is slightly muted with the milk there, so that there's no astringency. The buckwheat tea has a pretty strong toasty buckwheat flavor. Yum! Initially, when this business opened, parking was horrible with people jousting for street parking (with an already busy Goodwill down the street) and people parking at the plaza across the street (which will get you towed). Now that the hype has died down, you can use the Ember parking garage around the corner, although it's kind of annoying to park in.

BUT they are remarkably consistent, with perfectly chewy pearls and high quality teas. So, even though I'm paying a lot, I know it's going to be good. I got the Dong Ding Oolong with cream, perfect sweet and less ice with boba. The Dong Ding oolong is a high mountain oolong with a strong malty, nutty, roasty taste. It perfectly complements the cream. I prefer cream as opposed to milk since I think the cream gives the drink a thicker, more velvety mouthfeel if you mix it into the tea, plus before mixing you can sip on the cream and the tea separately, so it's like you can enjoy two drinks in one cup!

The team is absolutely lovely, it was my first time there and I had some questions/confusion and they were literally so patient, so kind and definitely pointed me in the right direction! They were pretty busy for a weeknight and yet we didn't wait long at all. Beautiful decor, very unique, relaxing and artistic. Definitely gives quality tea absolutely crushed it on the aesthetic front 10/10 gorgeous Sadly deducting a star because I got a very long black hair in my drink and I have very short blonde hair, so it was a bit unsettling and the drinks are quite expensive, so didn't super love that!

Menu was extensive and had plenty of options! So many options making it hard for me to pick what I wanted. Couldn't decide if I wanted one of the best sellers Ube Pistachio, a rose milk tea, a matcha...Ended up going with the rose milk tea with light ice and no toppings for my first visit. The drink was yummy, I've had better rose milk tea but I was satisfied and it was tasty. I give a 3.5 stars but round up as the location is large, good menu options with food and drink, accessible to bus stops, and my drink was good so I will round up to 4 stars. The cons are a lot of flies, especially in the bathroom. Dead flies in the bathroom soap, flying in your face in the bathroom, lobby has clean tables but dusty floors and windows with many dead fruit flies, large flies, and insects. More than 20 dead flies. Luckily in the lobby they don't fly in your face like the bathroom. I notice the front door states to customer please keep it closed so maybe some it is the area and out of their control? I still sat inside for a while and finished my drink in lobby to stay out of the sun for a bit and so did other groups. Staff was hard working. Seemed a lot of online food orders they needed to complete and that they prioritized. Tea Addicts has good menu options and it's a good tea spot in the area near the buses and the Whole Foods.

About10 dollars for 2 teas. I generally don't like milk tea so boba tea places are not my go to. I really liked the grape boom with full of grape flavor, just the right sweetness with less sugar. It was more like light slushy instead of tea. I also got the jasmine tea with no sugar for later. My daughter loves this place she ordered the mango drink and guava green grape. I tried the guava grape, it was very refreshing and mixture of green grapes and guava. They use fresh fruits in their drinks which I really liked. It's highly recommended!!

But coming back now and getting the guava grape and a pistachio cloud jasmine tea I was much more impressed. Both very good though not in my top tier echelon of tea shop quality. The shop is EXTREMELY small in a width kind of way with zero seating or even countertops to lean against really. The door is also where the line starts so it can awkward if even 1 person is inside waiting in line as it can block the entrance. Also the wait here also always seems quite long as I think they get a LOT of mobile orders so even if you see the shop empty take a look at the # of orders they're working on on the TV if you want to see how crowded they are. They are very professional though and will tell you how long the wait is if it's long, I usually wait 15-20 min each time I order here. I think they blew up in China as a luxury brand, people who even hire others to wait in the long lines in China for them to get the tea! I think they are about using high quality tea in freshly made drinks as kind of their tagline. Definitely worth a try especially for the seasonal fruit drinks I'd say.
