On Jun 3, 2026 I purchased a Jewel Store made shrimp cocktail. I didn't notice it until I went to eat it that one of the included lemon slices still had the bar code sticker on it. The first thing that I thought was, "I wonder whether the lemon had been washed". Not a good feeling. Food preparation staff, please wash the produce before packaging it(if the lemon had been washed, maybe they would've seen the sticker). As I was writing this I also thought about all of the freah fruit a vegetable trays that are prepared in the store. I've purchased many of them in the past, I think that I will cut my own fruit and vegetables going forward. read more

Shopped here a while ago. Located conveniently off of Jefferson Ave. It was a warm day and wanted to try a neighboring store in the area. Plus I wanted monopoly tickets! Being very unbiased based on the current situation affecting the world. There was a fair amount of people inside, plenty of parking. There are also too many shopping carts roaming the parking lot. None of which is as bad as the nearby Walmart. Store was clean, organized and fairly stocked. They had a much better variety of things to shop for compared to the Shorewood location. Brand wise , they focus hard brand stuff. Deals were fair. Check out lines aren't bad either friendly employees. Organic section wasn't too bad to shop around in . Lines are pretty reasonable to wait in. Average place to check out. Definitely a fair alternative to Walmart. read more

Not a fan. Some tips. Put the heat on in the store in the winter. Restock herb and pepper department. Increase cashiers salaries significantly, remove that weird deep fridge display of rejected goods from the front of the entrance. Rotate the brands & bring in new fresh cheese brands such as triple cream bries. organize the dried herbs and seasonings all in one isle in alphabetical order with large letter markers for the grandmas in us not trying to play where in the world is Waldo with a specific seasoning. :) read more

I try to stay out of this location when shopping. If you are looking for sale items they are hardly ever in stock, until the sale is over. There is always wrong prices labeled on the shelves, so you have to do their jobs for them by removing the out dated sales ads. The store seems clean all the time, so that is a plus. Yet the staff is nothing to write home about. I would recommend shopping at a different Jewels store if you want what you are looking for. read more

I do not reccomend going to this store at night, especially if you are a female and by yourself. They have had many issues over the years and attract some interesting people, to put it nicely. The building is most often clean with the exception of their fruit area. I have been in there when rotting fruit has attracted flies and other bugs. Rarely are there enough lines open to check out and if you need assistance, be prepared to wait. The bakery and deli staff are helpful but the floor staff is lacking in service. I have watched them walk past patrons and not even notice b/c they are glued to their phones. I go most often to aldi's now. read more

do not reccomend!! i had placed an order of 96pc of chicken on thursday for friday well, when i get there, i get my chicken yes as soon as i get there, the 2 girlthat were there no friendly at all! chicken black burned and the lady that was there was no help didnt even say anything till i open the tray, i had my workers waiting for the food, so i had to give my employes black burned chicken i had to choice but to take it since i had my people waiting they didnt bring no lunch becuase i was getting them chicken!! jewel its kind of expensive as it is! to shop there! and i get it but at least give quality food and dali not the garbage i got on friday never again!! read more

Usually a quick in and out thing with this Jewel. They have an energy drink section that would make anyone proud. The meat department always pretty solid. Make sure you get the french or Italian breads fresh from bakery. Liquor dept not too shabby on beer or wine selection either! read more

The smell here is so strong, smells like dead rat/rat feces I will never go here again.

I have been going to Jewel for years, but have noticed a gradual decline in quality of both service and products, especially produce. This includes things like onions and avocados, while perfectly fine on the outside, were mushy and black inside, as if they had been frozen. Yesterday, however, was the worst: I had just bought bananas the day before. The outside was fine. I peeled and took a bite and it tasted of mold! Ugh! I still can't get the taste out! I normally have great experiences with Jewels. They normally have fresh foods but this time I had a bad experience. I bought Pico De Gallo for taco night. When I got home and opened the container a foul smell came from it. I wanted to take it back so bad but I did not feel like so I threw it away. This was the first time this ever happened and I hope it is due to a careless worker and not the Chains way of selling everything and get it off the chef. Can't hate on my local Jewel. It's clean and dependable. They are always well stocked with produce, good variety. They have a nice meat section too. Self checkout is easy and well supervised. My only pet peeve is when they have older gentlemen there selling portraits. They are so rude!! And pushy and a little racist. Little secret, most Mexicans in Joliet understand English so don't talk about me thinking I don't understand, I'm just not interested in portraits at 9 in the morning!!! read more

I have been a faithful shopper at this Jewel for more than 30 years. Over the years the customer service has continued to free fall. It's bad enough I now have to check every single item for an expiration date because I constantly find out of date food. Earlier this week my wife was sick and we could not find our thermometer. I was doing some shopping, so I picked on up with my groceries. We tried it when I got home and it was defective. he first reading was 107 degrees, the next one 92 degrees. I went to Walgreen's and bought a different one which worked perfectly. Tonight, I tried the return the $40 defective thermometer. I was told since it was an "Osco" item, they could not process the return. I explained I bought it at the grocery register and they took my money just fine. Apparently there is an invisible line in the store and if something is an "Osco" item, you cannot return it. Seriously??? This store continues to spiral down. I've begun doing more shopping at Mariano's now, and after tonight, I'm pretty sure Jewel is dead to me. I had planned on doing my weekly shopping after the return, but left with nothing. Went to Mariano's ans loaded up my cart. They have fresher food, and treat me really well. If you go to this Jewel, I just hope you don't have an issue and need to make a return. Stopped by one night just before closing to get a few things. Place looked clean and well stocked. Cashier and bag boy were very courteous and polite. Wish they had later hours or were 24 hours like Plainfield locations. read more
