Jewel is a great supermarket for all your basic groceries. They have good quality food, clean and easily navigable stores, fast checkout, and good customer service. Their sale prices are good, though their everyday prices are high. It's definitely one of the best Jewel-Oscos I've ever shopped at.  I'm very lucky to be so close to this one.  It is always clean, and I always just feel very happy when I'm shopping in this store.  I also feel like I'm upper class when I'm shopping here, even if I'm really just a twenty something trying to make their way in the world.  The quality of the produce, meats, deli, and bakery are unmatched.  That part of the store is always immaculate and I typically want to buy everything in sight when I'm in this part of the store. The service is always excellent and today, when a long line formed in the express lanes, the managers reacted quickly to get extra help and handled all the checkouts I could see in a quick, efficient and courteous manner.  Bravo Jewel Osco! Jewel Osco home delivery system is the worst. I have used 3times and every time my order is missing items. This last time, an entire bag of items was missing and Jewel Osco did not reimburse. This is the worst store ever. I will actively seek to spread the news on their lack of professionalism, their management inadequacies, and their incompetency. read more

The cashier did not know how to operate their system. He did not activate the POS machine to let me enter my phone number and get the discount, even I repeatedly asked. He eventually asked me to give him my number to enter manually. However he added my items to the previous customer bill, and charged on that guy's credit card. I was honest and went to the manager to fix it, still they charged me one item without discount (should have). read more

I went to this Jewel last night, I've never had a problem until I lost my ID and I got a replacement real id on paper last Wednesday but apparently it's not valid at this location(which is not true at all) I wanted to purchase a pack of high noons and I showed the "manager" (who should NOT be a manager) my paper ID for her to scan and she instantly told me it wasn't valid. I tried showing her the barcode where she could scan but kept saying it wasn't valid and I can't purchase it. Now when I was at the DMV they told me it's acceptable anywhere they just have to scan or honestly just look at my birthdate. The lady who I dealt with was extremely rude and even my boyfriend told her it was valid but she kept saying I was wrong. I will no longer be coming to this location due to the manager there. I also called the GM this morning who told me that they accept the paper real id's and all the lady last night had to do was scan the paper! I even left the part that says my id was valid and the woman still was rude and didn't want to accept it:/ I seriously hope the GM here either fires that lady who calls herself a manager or demotes her. I'm a manager myself and would NEVER treat a customer the way she did. 0 starts for her customer service. Terrible. The GM is amazing tho and apologized on her behalf. Don't bother shopping here if you are a person of color unless you wanted to be transported back to 1930s rural south. The service at Jewel is really bad and it is even worse for POC. They clearly don't want us shopping there. Note I go there for emergency purchases or to take advantage of cheep chicken Monday. But my wife is right just go to Hmart, Aldi or Amazon Fresh- at least there they don't purposely ignore you after making eye contact. Here are examples 1. So today at the deli counter a few POC were in line to get the chicken wing special. An employee was gladly helping the white folks in line. And another was helping individual's with deli items and sliced meats. Which had no wait and only 1 customer being serviced. Well lo and behold the second an old white male showed up the employee who was supposed to help the POC with the hot foods dropped everything to help the other customer who arrived later. 2. Similar thing happened a few weeks ago when a white lady did not take a number but asked for help and basically took cuts. A black lady mentioned something about being next but was ignored. The individuals who took numbers were all there longer. 3. If there is a wait at the deli counter and you are a person of color no other employees come to help. But if you are not - employees would be happy to help out to keep the line moving. 4. Same for the checkout line- have a long line and a person of color - well you just have to wait. But if not they are happy to open up a register. 5. Where are all the POC employees?!?! Usually they will hire someone and then after a week or 2 they are terminated. We all get it - hire them and then don't support them or make them uncomfortable to work there. Usually I try to give the employees the benefit of the doubt but this is based on observations at numerous locations over time. When employees make eye contact and ignore you or can't hear you or routinely have trouble understanding what you are saying (even though you are an American native) it's intentionally done. May not be in writing but it's too much coincidence. read more

Not a pleasure to shop. Cons: 1. There are so many promotional displays set up in the store it's nearly impossible to push your cart around. You *will* hit things. They have literally covered 75% of the cart space with Prime drink displays and the like. 2. The font on the aisle signs is unreadable. Too narrow and closely spaced. 3. The organic produce selection is either too limited, or not easily marked. Can't find much. 4. There seem to be some unstable people loitering outside the entrance in the evening hours. Pros: 1. The sell Boars Head now...but so does everyone else it seems, including Target. So not a reason to go there. 2. If you are into big basic box brands, they have all of that. read more

Why do I dread going to the deli counter? I wish I had something nice to say, but honestly, I cannot think of anything positive to tell you. Those poor employees are understaffed serving demanding customers with a broken process. Suggestion, move the meet cutter closer to the counter, decide if customers take numbers or just force their way to the front, keep the pre-sliced meets fully stocked, and for Pete's sake, take customer orders and let the pickup at checkout! read more

I was going to go to the self check out, but I had a lot of items and the clerk was standing at the end of the line waiting for someone to come in his lane. Once I was at the register, the gentleman helping me told me to keep my beer and pop in the cart. He use the laser gun and picked up the pop and dropped it. The pop and beer were all tipped over. Then when he was ringing out my items, he kept swiping the same item multiple times. I had to keep telling him there was only one item to take it off. He swiped 1 cantaloupe container 3 times. I highly recommend ringing yourself out at the self check out. read more

Overall my experience at this JewelOsco has been a good one. I can always find and purchase what I need on my list, although I am not a fan of the split aisles. My one exception is the deli. I just left there today and without a doubt it was the absolute slowest service EVER in my 40+ years of grocery shopping. I cannot believe that I am the only one to notice this and/or bring it to someone's attention and if so, that nothing can be done to improve the service. I arrived at the counter with two clerks helping two customers and two people ahead of me waiting to be served. The clerks were working at such an incredibly slow pace, they might as well have been stopped, as the saying goes. Ok, five people to be served is not an inordinate amount of people; however, before long there was a line of at least five more customers behind me. My total time from arrival at the deli until I continued on with my shopping was 15 minutes. The customers ahead of me did NOT have large orders either. I would think as the line of people grew the clerks would have sensed some sort of urgency, and move at a bit faster pace. But, no. They just did not seem to care. And this has not been my first experience of this sort at this store. In my honest opinion, they should have a clerk on the customer's side of the counter taking orders to be picked up just prior to check out. I am not the type of person to complain, as I am in customer service myself and realize it is not an easy "gig." I normally commend service when it is due, choosing to let little things slide. After this happening to me several times now, I just had to write in to see if someone from the store has a reply. From now on, if what I need is not pre-cut in the self-serve case, I will buy my deli items elsewhere. read more

Jewel-Osco has always been there for me in my time in Chicago, and amazingly enough they've changed with the times for the better. You need to download the Jewel-Osco app on your phone or just sign up for their Just for U program to clip coupons and deals. Every week during this pandemic, I've looked forward to what they would offer and they haven't disappointed. Jewel has some pretty good fried and grilled chicken and often has a deal for 8 pieces or a package. Try it! Great for when you need something easy and affordable yet tasty. The staff at this location have been very nice, and it's much cleaner than the Chicago locations in my experience. I get a very local vibe at this spot, which draws me to come back. read more

I still don't shop here...well, ever, but today my folks and I stopped in for a few things, so I took the opportunity to check out their gluten-free products (I swear I'm not a hipster; my doctor made me do it). I was actually amazed by the amount of options they had here, with some different brands than I had seen at other area stores, so it was nice to have variety. It was very crowded (day before Easter, after all), and lines in the cramped check-out area were a bit chaotic, but they did have lots of lanes open and staff industriously working. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this trip and may put it in my more regular rotation of grocery stores. read more

With the heat wave last week, I decided to purchase shredded chicken from the deli department at the Jewel on 127 Odgen Ave in Naperville, Illinois., Big, big mistake. I purchased 4-small containers, and all were within code dates. I went home and used 2-of the containers and had a small meal with the chicken from those containers. Within 2-hours, I became very ill, vomiting clear liquid and chicken pieces, along with clear, thick diarrhea with more chicken pieces. The chicken did not smell or taste "off", and I was very ill from 6/17/24-6/25/24. I sent an email to Jewel customer service, explaining the situation. They seemed concerned, and guaranteed that the store manager would contact me shortly, which never happened. I also requested a refund for all 4-containers of the shredded chicken. I contacted Jewel corporate when the store manager never contacted me, and customer service guaranteed that the store manager would contact me. After another day of no response or concern from this store, I filed a formal complaint with the Illinois Department of Health. A well educated, experienced store manager would have immediately contacted me, asking what date the chicken was packed, and the "sell by date", but obviously the health and well-being of the customers is not important at all, store sales are the most important issue here. Purchasing shredded chicken from the deli at this store? You've been warned. I could not participate in 2-focus groups jobs last week, losing $300 in revenue, nit to mention the Gatorade, extra toilet paper, crackers, and medication to stop the vomiting and diarrhea. Just realize that Jewel could care less if you become ill after ingesting their tainted products. read more

This store is very conveniently arranged, and they carry many items that can be difficult to find at other stores. The deli and hot bar offer a very nice variety of choices for a quick lunch or dinner. Jewel has great sale prices too, on items that I frequently purchase. Checkout lines can be a little slow but the employees are very friendly. read more

They are fixing the problem of the frostbite freezers! It was the worse case of frostbite that I've EVER seen in any jewel but they have removed the items & are working to remedy the problem. It can be hard to find items with the store like this but overall I'm satisfied. Its been at least 2 weeks since ive been to this store but hopefully its better now. It needed to be done! read more

The store actually has a nice selection of goodies especially on their produce where fruits and vegetables are really fresh. I already went in here for a few times and their produce is really the one I always look forward to because for me they have the best selection of it. Other selections are actually good too. The store is clean and the stocks are I must say good because there are products that are full of stock and there are also products that only have a few pieces left on the shelves. The prices are average on most of the products and there are also products that are cheaper and more reasonable. The staffs in here are friendly and helpful, however, they are really slow because the lines in the checkout was long and I had to wait for a long while and if I were always in a hurry, I would definitely not choose to go in here knowing that their checkout moves so slow even if the carts of every customer is not really that much. read more

Every time I'm at jewel, Christine is the cashier. This time she was helping with self check. I try to avoid her at all costs bc she is so rude. This time I asked for her assistance bc I choose the wrong watermelon for what I had on the scale and the price came up wrong. I said, "I made a mistake, can you please help me?" Her response was, " ugh you chose the wrong watermelon!" Followed by a sigh and more sighing as she quickly punched keys to void what I had done. Then she had to fix her own mistake, so more sighing and then she says, "there, I fixed it." It's the snippy, snotty attitude that I find incredibly rude and unnecessary when you work in customer service. read more

I definitely like this grocery store. First of all, they open so early, and I like to get my groceries early in the morning when I go to this store. Aside from that, the store is also open until midnight, which is probably convenient for other people, or even for me if I have things I need to buy late at night. As for the products they have, I would say that they are all okay, with good quality and always in stock. They also have a variety of local options on every product. The produce and the meat are always fresh too. They just basically have good options for everything, including all the daily necessities. The staff are always clean and it has a nice, easy layout. The employees are nice, attentive, and helpful whenever I ask for something. Lastly, when it comes to their prices. It is comparable, and they also have sales regularly. read more

I bought some eggs, sausage and 2, 5 gallon bottles of water - pretty simple. Returned 2 the cashier scanned and they rang up 13.99 - WOW expensive water. I explained I did return 2 bottles. MGR came over SO SO SO RUDE - asked what kind of water I got. I dunno out of that machine 20 feet away. I got home no sausage, I guess they didn't want to bag that - just a rude experience, rude Management. I shop here often as it is super close to home. Too convenient not to. The five-stars, however, are because of their delivery service. Each delivery has come with the NICEST employees ever. BUT my review today was prompted by a delivery I haven't even received yet... Yesterday I placed an order for delivery to arrive today. Within hours of placing the order, I received a free frozen pizza promotion via email from Jewel - basically you get a free pizza when you place a same-day or next-day delivery. Well, dang. I JUST placed an order! What to do. Tried to go back and add in the pizza and promo to no avail. Called the store and spoke with a woman who, while attempting to be helpful, seemingly didn't get what was happening. The particular brand of pizza that was being given away apparently wasn't even carried by Jewel - I couldn't find it to add into my cart online. But - she said she'd have the manager call me. To my surprise - he did call! Just got off the phone with him. He was super nice and very real/down to earth. Wasn't placating at all. He checked in store himself and confirmed they did not have that brand of pizza so he wasn't even sure why Jewel Corporate was sending out that email. He apologized and offered to throw in a free frozen pizza - brand of my choice - to my delivery scheduled to arrive later today. Wow. When you swing by at peak-shopping times, duh - there's gonna be longer lines at the registers. They usually resolve long lines relatively quickly - adding more cashiers as the ebb and flow of guests occurs. Some cashiers are slower than others - but that's anywhere. Any time I've ever had an issue (fruit that spoiled too quickly/etc), its always been no questions asked and a quick resolution. We place an order for delivery and were given a one week delivery date. The due date arrived and no groceries. In follow up calls, had to call three different stores, only to find out my order wasCANCELLED. No notification. Neither email or by phone. Also the contact person in charge of the delivery business had no interest in explaining and then hung up on me. read more

It's unfortunate this is the only supermarket near me. This use to be a great Jewel. But they are now exploiting the lack of competition in the area and are continuously raising prices. Specific items I buy on a regular basis seem to be at least $1 more per item then Walmart, Target, Meijer or even Mariano's. For example, a pint of Halo ice cream is $5.99 vs. $3.88 at WalMart or $3.99 at Target. It seems every time I visit, they have raised prices. Sorry Jewel, but I think I will start spending the extra time and money to go somewhere else. read more

It's been a hot minute since I've been to a Jewel Osco, but I was extremely impressed when I went in today. The only other one I have ever been to is the one in Oswego on Rt 30 and it's small and dirty. This one was very neat and clean. I was highly impressed by their produce section and deli. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They also have flat screen TV's mounted up near the entrance/exit of the store and it shows pictures of their cheerful employees. I thought that was a nice touch. I started walking around looking for a few of the things I needed (like glade plug-ins) and found that they were kind of expensive in comparison to other stores like Meijer or Walgreens. It was six bucks for two glade plug-ins at Jewel. I went to Walgreens instead where I got two for four bucks. Much better deal. I may stop in again because it's located in a convenient spot, but they really ought to lower their prices. read more

Jewel is a store of convenience for our family. I realized I was in need of some cole slaw to compliment my dinner so i jetted out to pick up some. The store was not crowded and there was only one person in front of me at that deli counter. I usually shop at costcos and appreciate how the employees who work with food cover all facial hair. Well, this character behind the deli counter at Jewel would rival Scott Huber (our resident homeless man). He had so much facial hair I was amazed! I decided to get my other item instead of waiting.when I came back to the deli section deli man boy was secretly or not so secretly texting with his deli gloves on-- Uck!! I decided to get my slaw from the prepackaged deli items. If bearded deli man boy packaged this stuff at least I did not know it. I personally believe facial hair and the deli counter do not mix very well unless you are in an open air ethnic market across the ocean. read more

Has gotten way too crowded there and there is never enough staff at the registers during the busiest times. I pop into the service desk often, to get prepaid cards to send to my son away at school. If I have 1 or two items they've always just rang me up once instead of having me run around to another cashier. Today the little millennial told me rudely "you can use the other cashier ya know." Yeah, when I don't have to be in THIS line you moron. I found another Jewel much better managed and cleaner. And to the person who was eating food before paying for it, shame on your parents. I've been a Jewel customer since 1978. The service in the past has been reasonable for such a large chain. They have survived while many others like Safeway, Dominick's, Omni, Pick and Save, A&P and others have come and gone. But I have never experienced something like what happened at the Jewel Deli in Naperville IL today. There were a couple of guys working there who went out of their way to avoid serving me. Why? I haven't a clue. They both also seemed a bit... 'off' but that's a subjective observation. One was, it appeared, assigned to take orders and one -- come hell or high water, and who cares if there are waiting customers -- was assigned to do 'other stuff' ... anything it seemed except help customers. The one who was taking orders deliberately helped people behind me and then when I was the only one left he walked away to the other end of the deli and called out to other customers not even near the deli to see if they wanted anything! They didn't. Meanwhile the other guy not assigned to take customers is still busying himself moving things around and even slicing meat and weighing it rigjt in front if me for reasons unknown given he can clearly see I had been waiting almost 20 minutes to be served. When he finally ran out of stuff to do he disappeared into the back area. I don't understand why this happened but the attitude and overall strange behavior of these guys makes it clear to me that they don't belong near customers. And who is responsible for setting up customer care quality levels and managing this disfunctional station?? It really made it one of the worst customer exoeriences I've ever had. I finally walked away emoty handed and went to Aldi. I was served quickly, in order, and without any drama. read more
