For the past month or so we have been buying Jewels Deli 8 piece Chicken dinner. All I can say is the quality of the chicken has been going downhill and today was the straw that broke the camels back. The chicken was incredibly dry and difficult to chew because of it. It was like trying to eat shoe leather. It was also cold. Even when heating it up in the microwave didn't help at all I knew I had to complain. I called the store and asked to speak to the store manager. Finally after talking to 2 lesser employees who didn't have a clue how to handle or respond to my complaint I was finally directed to the Grocery manager, Dave. He seemed confused how to handle my complaint also and I finally had to straight out ask him for a refund. This is the first time I have ever had a complaint with Jewel in the 60 years I have been shopping there. I guess its time I take my grocery shopping elsewhere. Funny, many people in my family have worked for Jewel in the past, my sister in law a front end manager at one time and she would have handled things more professionally. read more

The deli makes no sense. Multiple people working with only one person helping customers. Seems like it would make sense to me to have the extra people help so that the line isn't 15 minutes long with just 3 people waiting. read more

This store has a running record of bad reviews. I've had multiple bad experiences at this location. My recent complaint is I had bought a couple items that were EXPIRED!!! I did not check until using them which is my fault but this is unacceptable. Management and staff are not doing their job if this is happening. My advice would be to shop somewhere else and avoid this store at all costs. They are also always understaffed and the employees constantly complain to customers which they should not be doing. Had the worst experience with two employees. he first one with dark brown hair and glasses asked to see the id of someone who I wasn't even with and wouldn't let me purchase alcohol until she saw her id. The girl with the pink hair then started to laugh and I soon felt very uncomfortable. Please do better read more

Dirty store and the service in the deli is terrible. The manager cut in front of everybody.

Just watched a produce manager drop 2 peaches, look around to see if anyone saw, and put them on for display. Nasty!

I have had several bad experiences at this Jewel Osco. I generally order a bucket of chicken on Fridays. The last few times I went. I had to go back in the store to get my order correct this last time. It was the same person who served me basically gave me the same thing that I complained about but instead he put hot on top so when I get home, it was the honey wing that I did not want so at this point I know it's me and I cannot go in that particular jewels because of their prejudices, I don't know if it's against black but I've been having a problem with them quite a few times. read more

We stopped to pick up a few items for lunches at 8:30pm. The store closes at 12am and we were told the Deli closes at 9pm. The employees in the Deli decided to close the Deli at 8:42pm with no notice. I asked if we could order something from the deli. Every other employee looked at each other and said I don't know what to tell you. If you want to run a business employing people who work during working hours we think should be looked at as a priority. read more

Put an order in for the bakery, and couldn't believe what a joke it looked like on pickup. It looked like a 5 year old piped it and wrote the name on it. The attendant said it could not be remade for that day. Awful. Don't buy a cake here. read more

The deli department was too busy shouting to each other and to the bakery workers about tonight's party, screaming how they would be "two shots in" by six. Management needs to monitor this before you lose customers. Another employee was outside blocking the exits with a hose, making it difficult to get to the parking lot with a cart. read more

I have shopped at Jewel Food stores since I was a child with my mother. So has my husband. We would honestly say this is the worst Jewel we have ever shopped at throughout our lives. The stock is frequently low in canned items and boxed items, leaving one's choice as only Jewel's Signature brand, which leaves much to be desired. The Deli seems to be owned by another company. Organic veggies and fruits are often low on stock compared to other stores. Sometimes shelves of certain products are literally empty. In the fresh meat department, there are some cuts of meat that are just non existent, all the time. If we have the opportunity to shop at other grocery stores in the area, that is what we do. read more

I went out and got a chicken tender dinner with potato fries. $13.00 for 2-3 lbs of chicken and 2 lbs of fries. Frys were great, but chicken was almost not edible. If kids weren't as hungry as the were, I would have taken the food back. They were terrible. Also I noticed 4 young kids running the deli and food counter. They were talking about partying and un aware where they were. AT WORK! Maby bad chicken was due to then not being able to count. read more

In contrast to my fellow Yelper, I would easily count this as the best Jewel in all of south Chicagoland. That comes not necessarily from a costumer service angle, or from what the store actually sells, (same as every other Jewel) but by the fact that it's aesthetically amazing. Not only is this store in impeccable shape, but the lighting is perfect. Every other Jewel I've ever been in has the horrible habit of lighting up everything with stark fluorescent lights that make my face feel like it's melting, while this one has high ceilings with gentle, natural skylights. On Thanksgiving, our uncle sent my 23 year old cousin to this Jewel, along with myself and my two other cousins (all 18 yrs old) to get a pina colada mixer and rum and a young worker (who looked 20) rejected my cousins REAL LEGAL ID. She wasn't even allowed to purchase the MIXER. Bad service too considering they made us feel uncomfortable. All young, slow workers. read more

If I could give a zero I would. This store always has unfriendly stuck up people like we owe them something because you live in a rich area . The produce is always nasty and the staff subpar. Peyton Behind service is very stuck up like someone owes her a living. Very defensive when asked questions about jewel app and argued with me. I have seen plenty of bad service here. Lines are too long. Prices are too high. Also, they don't keep the lottery machine running right. It stole my dollar and shut off. It should be removed from the store. The only reason I give it 2 stars instead of 1 is that they are open late. read more
