The things I've always loved about this store are: 1) It's old-school and maintains that vibe, in all the good ways. The lighting isn't harsh, the aisles aren't crammed, and there are no annoying TV screens. 2) Unlike most grocery stores, this Jewel does NOT rearrange their aisles every six months! This alone makes me choose it over any other grocery store. In a previous review I wrote about this store's too-loud PA system and untrained baggers. The volume was so loud that customers would wince when announcements came on. And the groceries were often damaged by untrained baggers. (Who puts a carton of eggs through the loophole looped bag handle and leaves it there to be upended when the bag is picked up?) But since that review, both of these things have improved dramatically. The PA volume is better and so are the baggers. But my bread is no longer crushed, my leafy vegetables are no longer pressed up again frozen goods, and fragile items like cakes an eggs are no longer bagged sideways. Thank you, Jewel, for making these improvements, whether it was intentional or not! This store is just about perfect now. read more

My vegi tray had all rotten radishes on it and the snap peas were pre frozen so all had white spots on them. My mini shrimp ring--all the shrimp were frozen and soggy when thawed. Waited 10 minutes to receive the pre-ordered internet quick pick up items. When the guy put box in my cart you could hear things spill over in tray --one of which was the pepper filled with humus. The worst produce I have ever seen. It seems to have deteriorated steadily over the last two years. The strawberries are unavailable frequently, and when available the quality is terrible. Green mold, discolored, runny juice as an example. The peaches have been terrible all year, soft and even rotting on the inside. Tomatoes are even disappearing with very few to pick from. The vegetable wall is usually the only area that seems to still have decent selection. read more

Always come to this Jewel instead of Hickory Hills. On this shopping trip I saw a variety of items SKY ROCKET in price. The following day I compared prices at another retailer and I don't know what it is...price gouging or what. You come in for special sales then regular items are astronomically high. As Jewel food stores go, this one is pretty good and remodeled to boot. Shelves were stocked, aisles were clean, staff was friendly ... so what's not to like. Good deli with loads of selections, but they could devote another person or so to working the counter ... sometimes the wait is long. I'm specifically referring to the deli and bakery department- I absolutely LOVE all of the fresh food options that they have and honestly felt like a kid in a candy store! I was met with very friendly staff and had a quick and simple checkout experience even during the lunch hour rush! read more

So twice I went to Jewel to get items that were in their "digital coupon" and both times the items rang up incorrect (different items). And to make it worse, the cashier said it was MY FAULT! I showed them the app on my phone and the phone number I used at the beginning of checkout, and showed them the "clipped coupons" also .....and still they said it was my fault. The person that came up with digital coupons should be shot!!!! read more

This Jewel has the most disgusting conveyor belts at checkout that I have ever seen. Wet and dry puddles of white liquid (maybe milk), puddles of red liquid (probably meat blood), and totally covered in other dried up patches of other gross looking material. I hate to put my food down on these belts. Sticky gross and who knows what bacteria is there too. When I complain about the lack of cleanliness, d cashiers always get angry. Then I go to any other jewel, or to Marianos, and the belts are always spotless. Why is this jewel in palos Park so fifty? I'm done. Not going back.​ read more

On my way home from work today I stopped at this Jewel and I figured I'd get some chicken from the deli. I don't know what the problem is in these Jewel delis but the service is horrific. As I waited to get waited on by one clerk one of the clerks felt it was more important to fill the Hawaiian rolls than to wait on customers. Meanwhile there were two other employees behind the counter that were too busy to wait on me. Ugh. It's dinner time and people stop to get ready made meals such as the chicken. I HATE the deli at this Jewel and the one in Orland Park on Wolf and 179th. Ridiculous. You just lost me as a deli customer. I'll go to KFC to get my chicken. One bright spot was the cashier when I checked out. Made my visit a bit better. Maybe she should work in the deli. read more

Very friendly and helpful staff. The deli isn't great. More often than not I leave with just a mountain of lunchmeat versus actual slices, makes it very difficult to separate. I also have to take a star because, On Wednesdays(the only day I can get to the store before closing) it seems that everyone above the age of 70 is having a meeting in the store. That wouldn't normally bother me except for the fact that they are extremely rude. 4 times the same older woman ran into and acted like it was my fault... WHEN I WAS STATIONARY. She must be attempting to qualify for the grocery shopping Olympics with how fast she is trying to move. I'm also not the only person she's run into. I usually have to go out of my way to go to another store if I don't want to leave completely bruised. AVOID ON WEDNESDAYS. read more

Not enforcing mask policies with shoppers or employees...I saw two pregnant women walking down the isles by people with no masks . Announce the policy over the loud speaker if you want to avoid confrontation. The fact that employees are also not following the policy shows a lack of regard for the community. Really frustrating and disappointing. read more

I don't know what is going on over there in the deli section, there were only 2 people behind the counter and a line of people waiting for service. (On a busy Sunday) Management needs to change! I've been going here for 20 years and have noticed that ever since they remodeled, I can't find anything in the store and now the deli service is shot. This is most like ly going to be my new grocery store come mid-March when we literally move 1/4 mile behind the store. Once the snow melts it would actually be a safe, short walk. This store has been around for a quite a while and it does look it's age, it is in dire need of a face lift but the shelves are nicely stocked with good looking meat and produce co I really can't ask for more being so close. read more

Every time I come into this store using the entrance in close proximity to the greeting cards. I say what is that awful smell? They usually have stacked beer cartons or something else on each side of the door interior. I finally take the initiative to investigate and low and behold I look down and behind the cartons, there are steel mice/rat traps hidden on the floor. Empty the damn traps of rotting rodents...this is a health hazard. read more

Jewel has come along way since the new ownership. The store is very clean and price are competitive now. If you shop the ads wisely you can get pricing better than Walmart, and service that blows them and Meijer away. read more

I am surprised I haven't yelped about this Jewel yet as it is the one I go to the most. I came in to get ingredients for a special pizza. I have found that some of the selection that Jewel has to offer is to my liking but their prices are a bit high, but not as high as Whole Foods. I found figs for the pizza which were $5 and they only had one brand. For the cheese, I needed asiago and bought a brick for another $5. Although it seems priced a little more than it's worth, I will be back here. read more

This jewel osco has the best selection on everything. My grandma had passed away the night before I went. Mary was so kind and generous and made me smile even though I wasant happy. Then, Debra saw I dropped my face wash and she brought it out to my car personally. read more
