Horrible customer service. We bought frozen cod and after cooking it we noticed there were worms in EVERY single piece of fish. After I came here with screenshots of the receipt from the app they kept insisting I have my PREGNANT wife, who by the way was in the middle of eating that fish before we noticed, come with her phone so they can verify the purchase. What's the secret to having your order ready at the time you selected? Or having things ring up properly? Of obtaining good customer service? There must be a password to have these things but I don't know it. I've ordered to pick up a couple times here and gotten a message that my order was delayed, both times. I came here and went in to purchase some things, and watched to make sure they rang up correctly at the discounted price... when I asked the woman if it came off at the end she said they should come off now but wasn't sure why it didn't and that I could go to the counter with customer service to get them to fix it. I mean, that's really not super convenient (especially since some of the items I wouldn't have purchased if they weren't on sale) and it's not my fault if their stuff doesn't ring up properly. I asked if we could check or I should go and she just kind of looked at me so I went to find the item, asked an employee in the aisle who confirmed it was on sale for their name in case the cashier didn't believe that the sale price was correct, and when I went back they were just about to void my order (no one was in line) because I'd gone to do what they should have in the first place. Apparently it does come off after the end but the woman didn't know that. So I don't know, Jewel, either train your staff properly so they know how it works or have the sale price come off immediately rather than after everything is subtotaled? read more

I came to this Jewel and felt incredibly disgusted. For reference, I'm 18 years old and at the time I was in Jewel, I was shopping alone. While shopping for my food, this man kept giving me looks. He came to my isle and got very uncomfortably close to me. I also witnessed him go up behind a young girl worker and whisper to her. She was visibly uncomfortable and it made me uncomfortable watching the interaction. If you shop here, watch out for this man. He looks about 30 years old. He has a buzz cut, short, and his nametag said Ivan. I know this staff team are supposed to be kind and helpful but I felt the complete opposite while I was there. read more

It's still the most cramped Jewel in Cook County (probably), but this store has grown on me in the years that we've lived nearby, for three specific reasons: 1. Self-checkout terminals. Seriously, this increases my likelihood of using your store by 1000%. 2. Icelandic Provisions yogurt. Don't know why this is so hard to find, because it is the best yogurt ever made. Target and Mariano's sometimes have it, but this is the only Jewel I've found that carries it consistently. Just keep it in stock, mmkay guys?? 3. Selection of kids' carts. 70% of my grocery visits include at least one small child, and it can be a lot easier to get a kid to put on his boots, coat, mittens, etc when you dangle a fire truck/taxi/squad car/pink racecar ride in his face. They always have at least two available, sometimes as many as five. The Dempster Jewel has only a single broken one, or zero. read more

This is an a-ok Jewel-Osco and one of two near our home.  I like this one better than the one on Dempster near Greenwood due to a couple of factors.  They generally have a little better meat quality selection here, they have self-checkout, and they have a better grade of clientele here (meaning older and wealthier Park Ridge folk).  On the downside, it's a smallish but cozy Jewel, and their parking lot is a bit more congested than the other, but both have busy lots.  It's the week before Christmas weekend and a snow storm is brewing and it was quite busy in here today.  If you decide to shop here on the day of Christmas Eve, I think that is their busiest day of the year, and that's just an eyeball judgement from me over the years.  Bone-in rib roast was on sale for $5.99/lb (regular price of $14.49/lb) and that's a nice annual draw for us during Christmas party week.  But now they've added a $25 minimum purchase requirement, which they did not previously have for this sale, but it's also easy to achieve.  Unlike some Jewels, the lines also move relatively efficiently here.  But note also that my comments are based on us having the luxury of grocery shopping at usually non-peak times. read more

Decent store. This location is perfectly cleaned, floors and carts are sparkling. They sell lots of ready-to-eat food like soups, chicken tenders, wings, sandwiches, salads and parafit yogurts, even sushi is available in this location. Flower department is rich for colorful plants of all kinds... Great selection of coffee and tea. Many items on sale, yellow tagged. Good place fort daily or weekly grocery shopping. I'd give them 0 stars for Customer Service if I could. Stopped by to return something just now, and the customer service desk is closed. Mind you the store closes at 12a (midnight). Therefore for over 4.5 hours they have no Customer Service capabilities. I'm glad we do most of our shopping at Trader Joe's, there is always someone available for customer service during store hours. read more

Although this store is smaller in size the way the employees make you feel is worth it. I feel right at home when I'm talking to the cashiers and all department managers. They always seem to be nice and goofy with each other. I love going to their seasonal section. My grandmother says Mr.Linden is always so helpful and sweet to her. 100/10 recommend read more

The for U deals app is a joke. Half the time it is down and when you are in the store you can't access it to get the sale price. Also, the store employees that stock the shelves are inconsiderate. This review is about the deli at this location. Probably the worst customer service. The majority of the workers there seem miserable when they finally serve you. It's like you're bothering them to get what you need. They have a number ticket system that they occasionally use. It's as if it's an option to them. I've been shopping this store for years and know just about every employee/manager here. The service in the deli is absolutely sub-par. You're a full service counter meant to serve the customers. I stood at the counter for at least 10 minutes as 2 deli members were serving 2 customers. Another was looking at me then turning away just to do nothing. It's called customer service for a reason. I was totally blown off by all the deli team and I let the management know my disappointment. Hopefully they get on these members and they get their act together. read more

I've lived in Park Ridge for 8 years and disliked this Jewel for 4 of them, but in the end it is one of my two go-to grocery stores. I'm giving four stars although 3 is probably more accurate, but Benny and a couple of the other managers and employees always seems to be hustling and being so friendly and they have kids carts that my kids love (but should be cleaned a bit better). Comparing it to the two other Jewel stores in the surrounding area, this one is significantly better, but with an ambiance that is not as good as other newer nearby grocers like Fresh Farms and Mariano's, who seem to have much better lighting/decor. On the positive side, it is well stocked, fairly clean and the flower lady always makes nice bouquets for me. It also seems that the management is trying to do a good job, but are suffering from hiring woes. They don't have enough clerks (they do have self checkout) and some of the employees are crabby (especially in the deli dept) but when I do use the clerks they are usually friendly. The food selection is always pretty good and I think their produce section is significantly better than Mariano's. They've also redone their wine section too, which looks very nice. It's easy to be critical of grocery stores but it's such a tough business with small margins and for some reason it doesn't seem to be able to do as good a job as the smaller grocers like Tony's and Fresh Farms. Maybe it just comes down to the fact that Park Ridge has a wealthier clientele who eats out more often and when they do cook, they prefer to spend their money at Whole Foods instead. I want to see this Jewel succeed nonetheless so I will keep supporting it. read more

This is a smaller Jewel location located on Greenwood in Park Ridge. It is usually pretty crowded on weekends, but has a pretty large parking lot to accommodate the crowds. The main drawback here is the narrow aisles which can be hard to navigate if another customer is nearby. The back aisle is filled with pallets of promo items further complicating the shopping experience. The assortment in this store is somewhat limited compared to other Jewel locations. They made some renovations a few years ago, but it is still kind of a bare bones location in my opinion. The produce section isn't that great and I would much prefer shopping at the nearby Mariano's. Also, it seems like they have a disproportionate amount of floor space dedicated to general merchandise - the Osco side of the store is always a ghost town. Lines here get very long and stretch halfway down the aisles. It is confusing if you are coming from the back of the store and quite difficult to move lanes if you get stuck in a slow one. This location serves its purpose, but if I need to shop at Jewel I would rather drive to one of the Niles locations. read more

Tried to buy a coffee cake and use Apple Pay. Cashier couldn't find the item and selected a $8 cookie. When I asked how she arrived at the price she said she had two potential items and thought cookies best described a coffee (twist cake) . I asked to cancel and was told the order was cancelled. I left and 5 minutes later a $10.23 charge appeared on my Apple Pay. When I went back I was told the charge was the person behind me. WOW!!!! While trying to get a credit, the customer service desk person (Michelle) acted like I was inconveniencing her. When I asked why she was being rude she became angry. I did not feel like a customer but rather someone who was inconveniencing her. Jewel has the highest prices in Chicago and the worst service. I won't be back! read more

This is beyond a doubt the worst Jewel store, #3481, Dir Ken Luccese, I've been to in a long while. I just wanted to pickup a few items. The most important being a card for a wedding. The worst selection and the messiest, with no envelopes. I had to go to another area to take one from there. I also tried to go to the Deli and get some cheese. There were 7 or8 people behind the counter working at various jobs. There were 5 customers waiting and 1 server. So gave up on getting anything. The checkouts were also mobbed with only 2 open and long lines, ended up going to self checkout. Terrible store, very messy...Harlem-Foster in Chicago is clean and efficient. read more

I typically post positive reviews because people are quick to complain rather than praise, but this store does indeed deserve a dishonorable mention: 1. In recent years, the deli dept has tanked. The quality of the freshly sliced meat/cheese looks like Leatherface had a go at it with a dull chainsaw. Those slicers NEED to be sharpened daily. Don't bother asking for thin or thick, you'll get both in one slice and pay a LOT of money for it. 2. For the past 6 months we've noticed any soda pop, especially in cases, goes flat almost as soon as you open it. Again, way too expensive, which is why I don't opt for the "discount on multiples of three". 3. The produce. Oh, that lovely soaking wet, wilted produce. Do they know watering already picked produce does nothing except make it go bad faster? Maybe that's the idea for quicker turnover? Speaking of turnovers.... 4. The bakery department has broken my sweet tooth heart. Not a huge deal, but when one buys apple turnovers, one expects apple. Instead we received some nondescript red sweet goo. Still tasty, but with the amount of high fructose corn syrup and lack of actual fruit, we couldn't tell if it was cherry, raspberry, or if we were being punked on purpose. Bottom line, I enjoy the Just for U rewards and the staff are quite helpful, but your location has seen the last of my money. I heard Happy Foods has decent deli and Jerry's Fruit Market is great for produce. Shoppers beware! P.S. The Ortego taco shells are ALWAYS broken. This is my neighborhood Jewel-Osco and I love it. The customers are super nice, the workers aren't rude and the place itself is always organized and clean. I used to work there and I can truly say that the team work is amazing, we rarely had sidework to do because everyone did their job right the first time. I would definitly recommend this as a nice place to pick up a few groceries, it is pricey but that goes for every Jewel-Osco around Chicago. People there will always help you find anything you need and if they can give you a discount they definitly will. Please don't be a fussy customer when you go in because being nice there will get you farther than being rude. Their motto is "the customer is always right" so kill them with kindness (if you even ever have to!) read more

I have lived in park ridge for 8 years, I've been going to this jewel for almost the same amount of time. I have stayed loyal to them for 8 years however my last time in there was the end for me. The fruits and veggies are old most of the time. The veggies are wrinkled and the fruits are bruised. On my last trip there i didnt purchase any fruits or veggies. My wife wasnt happy with me when I got home. I had to explain how the carrots were slimy and the appples were all bruised. Like others have commented, make sure you check experation dates. Some of the items they make in store are 5-7days old (pasta salad). The carts are hit or miss, most of the time we get a cart that vears to the left. Lastly the parking lot is always filled with garbage, I expect that in Chicago but not in park ridge. I had a falling out with this jewel right before covid for the same reasons. During covid I supported park ridge buisnesses. Also the deli closes at 7pm now due to low employment. Other patrons I spoke with are having similar issues. I know the owner reads these reviews. I'm hoping you take to heart what I wrote and fix this situation. I do not have a problem paying more money for quality products. The products have not been quality for some time. I have been putting off finding another grocery store for a while hoping these issues will be resolved. read more

I called to ask if they needed any help to support efforts in protecting their staff and shoppers as I noticed that the baggers were not wearing gloves or masks. The answer was very defensive and I was told they have all the supplies they need and the employees have the option to wear these protective articles. In the crisis we are in, I believe these should be mandatory to protect the employees who are doing an amazing job and the shoppers. Additional comment- Why are the stockers wearing gloves and masks but the people coming into contact with our community, including our elderly community, are not wearing masks or gloves? Recently this Jewel had a grand reopening, but it was already quite pristine even before the upgrade. But I wanted to point out that for the 2nd year in a row, I got my Thanksgiving turkey here. Believe it or not, for the last 2 years the Dempster-Greenwood Jewel did not have any 20+ pound turkeys. I came to this Jewel and the meat dept. guy took the time to find me a couple of big Jennie-O birds from the storage freezer in back of the store. I knwo where I'll be coming back for my turkey next year. And the cashier Hannah, who looks a little like Hilary Swank and works the 6 AM shift on Saturday is very nice and polite too. This is one of the worst grocery stores I've been to. And I've been to Winn-Dixie. I'm usually okay with most Jewel-Oscos, but this one is a wreck. The layout is way too cramped, with large support beams in too many aisles, taking up too much space. I wind up in shopping cart gridlock at least 2 or 3 times each visit. Also, the employees seem miserable. In particular, there's an old guy who works in the deli who is always pissed off. And it's not just me. I've watched him be curt and rude to several customers in line in front of me. Look, I get it, man. I'd hate your job, too. People are the worst. But I promise you...not being an asshat will make everyone's day better, including yours. It sucks, because I just moved around the corner from this place. The store is ok - The Deli doesnt even deserve 1 star. The service is terrible - Tonights "OK-Here -Bye !!" when I took my order from the lady behind the counter - I was taken aback. They also treat the high end Boars Head like the garbage safeway brand deli meat - They need to use the better bags and if its down close to the stump to open a fresh one. I have spent thousands over the years with Jewel,Safeway,Albertstons over many years in Arizona and Illinois. Shopped here today for the last time! Went to the butcher area where once again, the one person working it was in front of the fish section working on re-icing the fish section. He asked if I needed something and did not look happy when I said yes. There was a sign in front of the bacon that I ordered that said buy one, get one free. There was also a sign on the chicken next to the bacon that said the same thing; and yet another sign in front of a third item further down. I asked about getting the "free one" and the guy said it didn't apply to the bacon. The meat manager came from the back and was the obviously upset that he had to waste his time with a customer. He actually said that anyone would know that the three signs were all for the chicken and not the three items. He was very belligerent! He asked how could I possibly think the bacon was bogo - buy one get one? I said because you have a sign in front of it. He said the sign was for the chicken. The store manager came over and was very apologetic and said the sign was misleading and offered to give the bogo deal. I thanked him but said the was his meat employee and manager acted was unacceptable! I went to Mariano's, got fresher and cheaper food and will continue to go to Mariano's thanks to the rudeness and ignorance of the Jewel employees! read more
