The old woman named Maria in the check out line with the Karen haircut is extremely rude. I shop frequently and asked if her lane was still open because I have seen her leave earlier before the other cashiers previously. She replied sarcastically stating "yes, that's why I'm standing here". I said "ok, I will be right back" to leave her lane because I was uncomfortable and she replied "whatever!". I have seen her be extremely rude before and figured she's just a disgruntled employee who hates her job or her life but at this point it's just ridiculous. This place must be under new ownership because the quality of customer service is zero. I went to the deli and ordered 2 pounds of mortadella cut in a specific way. She messed it up. Why? Because it turns out that she does not speak English. How can someone assist customers who does not speak English to understand the order and the kicker is that the other two deli workers let her go on with my order. Neither one offered to assist me, knowing full well that there was a language barrier. So I went up front to complain to the cashier staff and they just ignored me. They did not offer an apology or even to get a manager. What a disappointment because I've been shopping here for over 15 years....Am not going back. read more

Once you walk in here it s exactly what you expect. Produce side is really good they are really paying attention to what they sell (produce wise) Also I expect to buy products that are not expired. Unfortunately I never look for expiration dates when I buy anything, thinking that the store does their part. Well no they are not doing a good job at that I bought rice that was expired in 2019. I've been going to this store for so long and everytime there is something expired, or they take off the expiration day from the packages, or they put one, but the item is expired and very bad. The Environmental Health Division must be called on them, and will do it. This is ridiculous. read more

I made my last trip to Produce world on Cumberland today. The older woman at the deli counter was wearing her mask under her nose. I picked up a pound of ham and cheese but I'll probably be throwing them out. She may have contaminated everything in the deli and it just isn't worth the risk. I was going to make a complaint in the store, but the first employees I saw when I was going to ask for a manager to complain to were also wearing their masks under their nose. The store manager is terrible. He accused me twice of shoplifting although I did not steal anything. The first time he said he saw me take something from one of the shelves and put it in my cart which I did not do. The second time I walked to one side of the store to double check the price of an item I had gotten. I then went to a cashier and paid for my items. For some reason the manager thought this constituted shoplifting. After the second incident I asked to speak with the owner. The manager was there yelling at me in front of the owner even though I did nothing wrong! I have been going to this store for years but will no longer continue to do so. read more

When I need anything that's outside the apple/orange/tomato/onion realm, this is the place to go. Great selection and great prices on all kinds of fresh produce. It's normally very fresh, too. The meat selection varies but is usually pretty good. Free tip from your Uncle Patrick: start with the stuff in the butcher's case, then look on the shelves. The butcher's case has the best and freshest cuts. The rest of the store tends to specialize toward European products, with a few American brands mixed in, but only in some sections. For instance, the cookie aisle is totally made up of Italian, Polish, German, and a few Russian brands. No Keebler here, baby! The deli alone is worth the trip. Unbelievable prices on a great variety of domestic and international lunchmeats and cheeses. read more

Yeah... not a fan. I'm in this area often, and I've stopped in here for produce quite a few times. My first visit, I got a 2lb bulk bag of baby spinach for $2.29 and was so enraptured by the deal that (I guess) the overall dirtiness of the place didn't really register with me. But it became more and more apparent with each subsequent visit, and the produce started looking worse and worse (bruised and overripe, etc) and... well... I don't shop here any more. read more

I really love this Produce World! I am really amazed at their service! All of their staff is friendly, nice, decent, helpful, and professional. They will greet you once you enter the place and also they are willing to guide you around the place. They are working so fast and quickly. They all know how to treat and serve the customers so right. All of them are professional and personable. Produce World's place is so huge, they have a big parking lot, and the whole place is well-designed and organized. You will absolutely love their ambiance. But the only problem is their cashiers. It has long lines and moving so slow. Maybe it is because so many people really love their place and keep visiting. But still, Produce World is exceptional! Evey time I come home on vacation this is one of my first stops. Not only do they have a huge selection of all the yummy imported food I grew up on at Grandma's house, but they actually make their own Greek yogurt that is most likely the best thing I have ever had on this earth. Produce world has just about anything you need from deli items, fresh (and reasonable) produce as well as imported beers and liquors. Hate to only give a two star review because it seems like a family owned place with nice cashiers, but many of the items I wanted to purchase were either expired or would have been in just a few days. The worst was a coffee creamer that expired in June that was still on the shelf, we shopped in August! I gave up on major supermarket chains a while ago. I only shop at two or three area independent places now, one being Produce World. This place has a great produce section (hence the name), lots of dried pastas, and an impressive imported/domestic fresh cheese selection (like Parmigiano Reggiano). I also like this place because they have both a butcher and sea food counter. When I don't have time to go to my regular butcher (review coming soon) they slice or ground meats at my request. Once I needed some catfish for dinner and the fish guy helped with the figuring out the weight and filleted it too. Although I rarely buy deli meats but Produce World has a great a wonderful deli counter that includes fresh olives and feta cheeses along with the usual meats and yellow/white cheeses. They recently rearranged the layout and now have an area with pastries; while I haven't tried any of them they do look tasty. I love this place for the little things they have that other places don't. I often need stock and they carry 8 oz. boxes of beef, chicken, and vegetable stock. Need anchovy paste or Greek olive oil? They have them. Looking for butter from Poland? They have it and some from Ireland too. I only wish I could read Polish so I could enjoy all of the things this store has to offer from candy and juices, to yogurt and desserts. This is a one stop shop. They even sell wine and beer. When I walked in the door and saw a table stacked high with trays of black figs (not the little pint baskets I get at Pete's, but trays), I got the feeling that I was going to dig Produce World. Their produce section is indeed impressive. Everything looked very fresh, with great prices, and outstanding variety for a store that isn't all that big (six or seven varieties of apples, white, red, and rainbow swiss chard, for those who like to color-coordinate, as well as organic dandelion greens, which I don't think I've ever seen at Whole Foods). Places like this make me wish I was a better cook. Full-service butchers shouldn't be as scarce as they are. A banner advising customers to place orders for lambs and goats is always a good sign. The offerings at both the butcher and fish counters looked (and smelled) very fresh and appetizing. The imported groceries make this place the most fun, though. Greek, Polish, Arabic, Filipino... so many interesting things to take home and try. I picked up some tea, my favorite Sicilian olive oil (that's becoming harder and harder to find), almond syrup for when I want to pretend I'm a barista, a lime squeezer that cost $5 less than the ones at Whole Foods, sour cherry and hazelnut jams from Italy, wildflower honey from Wisconsin, chocolate-covered dried strawberries and blueberries from the bulk section... they even carry Kalona Organics milk. Basically, I went a little crazy, rationalizing my purchases by telling myself, "when am I going to be back up this way?" read more

I came here with my close pal KS, and I love it. The prices are great -- they have a great fresh produce section with the regular fruits and veggies, and some more unusual ones. My favorite aisle is the bagged bulk section -- I got dried kiwi, organic oats, cornmeal, yellow raisins and a bag of walnut meat. The nuts are cheap here~!! (and I need them for protein and omegas.) I would come back here again definitely but the drive and traffic is a bummer. read more

Great store! Clean, a little cramped, but they need to get all of their goodies in. Absolutely great selections and good prices. They are a grocery store. They have many items that would be considered specialty, large bags of flour and rice. No need for big stores like Sam's Club. The only thing that bothers me are the lines to check out. As a resident of the area, we have Aldi's, Jewel, Butera and a handful of small ethnic places worth digging for (and, YELPers, we should do a tour of them around here this summer). PRODUCE WORLD has a great, great deli, tons of foreign (Polish) foods and the feel of a large, crowded village store. always find something good to eat at the deli and they do have a good sale paper, so get it or not, but honest, every time I go for a haircut across the street at Rocky's, the day becomes a trip to Ace, Produce World, comics from Atlas Comics (john, the owner, not only sells comics but drew them for many years) in the same mall, and brunching at the Phoenix (very fast service and very big breakfasts). I effin love this place!! You score big cause you save money, and can pick up some imported delicasies for CHEAP! Last night we tooled on over there and got octopus fresh from the butcher, scallops, and some pasta. MMMMM it was sooooo good. Their seafood sction is great, hamburger meat ok. They also have a freshly baked goods section (if your like me and LOVE italian cookies) and they have imported cheese too....also freshly baked foccocia breads. My new go to store. One of the best hot meal to go counters anywhere. Reasonable priced delicious foods. I love their turkey legs and wings, don't forget the cranberry sauce. The beef short ribs keep me happy too. There is nothing I have tried I have not continued to rebuy and enjoy. The pre cooked Greek chickens are perfect. I break them down still warm at home Before putting them in the fridge. Re heat them in a Hot 400 oven with a splash of Greek marinade and dressing and Opa! A favorite new meal. Why cook harder? Buy a pice of smoked salmon and the baked salmon next to it in the cold Deli and add veggie cream cheese, honey and you have the best salmon salad ever. Fresh fruit and fish and meats too. I make the best guacamole (my grandma's recipe) and my friends ask me to bring it to every backyard party, birthday party, house party, etc. What costs me $30 at Jewel or Trader Joe's, costs only $11 at Produce World. Produce world you need to spend money on educating your employees on handling food. I was just there today and about to take a sample from the white woman serving cheeses and deli meats. I then see her with her gloves on blowing her nose with her gloves while standing over the samples, she doesnt leave to take her gloves off, she puts her soiled tissue away and keeps handling the food. Seriously this is how illness is spread. Completely disgusting imagine if an old person ate that sample and got sick. Everyone avoid free samples there and be cautious of and food handled. read more

Water was dripping all over the store apparently from the roof. Not very safe or hygienic if you ask me. Fish was old and was thrown out by me when I got home and smelled it. Their prices are a little too high too. Owners need to recondition and repair the roof of this worn out store and close down when it's not safe for customers and unhealthy too.
