Come on Jewel. Your personal shoppers must hate working there, or hate your customers. Tell them to shop like they're shopping for themselves or their family. *NOTE TO BUYER-Smaller avocados are usually picked prematurely, which is why you see all the brown, hard fiber lines throughout. (Check photos) Typically the produce appears to be pretty good, UNLESS you're buying avocados. I'm tired of wasting money weekly, waiting for them to ripen, only to realize it's aerated, brown, premature, moldy & fibrous. It's not like these things are cheap either. For the record, I buy them when they're green & hard, then allow them to ripen over the next 3-4 days. Why pay $2 and only use 1/4 of it? Clean, organized store. Friendly employees. save yourself the time and headache by driving to a different location. Flash Grocery Delivery is hardly ever on time, usually arriving more than an hour late. Plenty of out of stock items and bad meat quality usually expiring within a day or two. I wouldn't recommend nor will I continue to patronize this location. read more

The Taco Dip is unpalatable... Jewel should make sure the employee knows what goes into the recipe. It lacks cream cheese, and sour cream. Never again will I buy this dip in Frankfort Jewel. read more

This store has the worst deli counter, They have people standing in the back but only one or two help at deli counter. Horrible, Horrible. It is not that busy but the deli counter is so slow and no one helps out. They had a big Boars Head roll out today and I waited for 25 minutes and 3 numbers were called. Also the store is constantly stocking shelves at busy times of the day. There are carts of stuff to be stocked in every aisle, then add to the customer and the rude personal shoppers that push these big carts around i already crowded aisles. Store manager has serious issues. I believe his name is Patrick. Made me very uncomfortable while in the store dealing with him, very condescending, always an angry scowl on his face. I recently moved to the area and decided to shop at this location due to it being close to my apartment. I made the mistake of asking a gentlemen for help around the store. The man was very snide, rushed, and just plain rude. What shocked me was when I read his name tag right before the end of our encounter. His name was Patrick and he was the Store Director. I was a bit undecided on going in the store after what I have read in yelp but I have a no choice. When I was in the store, I was surprised. I haven't had a problem or a negative experience. The store was clean and bright. Everything seems organized and well stocked. The selections on most departments are in a good condition and their produce was fresh. They have organic options on every products which is a good thing. Customers seems to love their baked goodies, it was almost gone and it was still early. Been shopping here 20+ years, I have amazing things to say about the pharmacy , they deserve 5 stars, as far as the deli, I literally hate getting lunchmeat from here, not only are they slow as turtles, the guy with dark hair young is so rude . The young girl who is at night doesnt ever listen to my order even after she repeats it to me . I get home & it is wrong amount and sliced wrong . She does this time after time & at first I thought she made a mistake , 2nd time I thought she was overwhelmed cause she goes into a back room & takes about 5 mins before she comes back out to slice my lunchmeat ( no idea what she is doing back there , goes in with nothing comes out with nothing ) but tonight was the last straw 3rd time she messed up my order after repeating it to me. I dont know if she does it on purpose she never smiles seems crabby , I will not be getting my lunchmeat from here anymore & now I am being inconvenienced over people who cant do their jobs correctly . Please TRAIN THESE PPL !! After shopping at Jewel for many years now spending a few hundred dollars every time I go today the 11 of July will be the last day I spend my hard earned money there.this will be the 3rd time lines are out the door, multiple check outs not open and customers bagging their groceries. Rude people in the meat department. And self checkout. I realize it was New Years morning and there were probably a lot of hangovers, but you should never be treated rudely as I was. From self checkout where I was waiting for my receipt because the machine was slow and an employee walks up to me and says "what are you going to do stand there all day? And she starts telling me to enter my phone number insert my card which I already did. And I told her I was waiting for my receipt. Receipt finally prints out then she replies there now that wasn't too hard was it? And before that the meat department. I asked for a three bone prime rib roast, about 6 to 7 lbs. I was told ten minutes while the butcher cuts it. 1 minute later some young kid comes out with a 11 pound roast and looks on a list gives me somebody's name who has ordered it probably a few days before. I told him it was not mine he replied yes it is and put it in my cart and walked away. I waited around for 15 minutes and a lady walks out with my roast and I showed her the 11 pound roast the kid bought out and told her what happened. Her reply was just put it on a shelf. You know if people despise their jobs so much I know several people that would happily take that job. Pathetic customer service and communication skills. read more

I always say set your expectations low so you can only be surprised. Surprised, but not, as it turns out, as you always expect. When I was young, my father thought it would be a good idea to have an entire steer butchered and stored in a freezer in the garage. Beef for the family for a whole year. Well, one day, there was a terrible storm and it threw the breakers in the house. No one thought to Check the garage because those breakers never throw. Then my brother decided to cook a a frozen pizza almost two weeks later. This was his Vietnam. With shirts tied around our faces, our mother made us attempt to clean out that putrid freezer, one purple and green stinking rotting bulging bag at a time, like a couple dumpster barons in the heist of the century. My father, once he got home from work and with greater sense, at least, had us roll the whole freezer to the curb, trailing a line of fly water behind it. To this day, my poor, dear brother can't change his own children's diapers. The smell of this Jewel brings those memories flooding back to the ol' olfactory glands. It's immediate and subtle when you walk in the door. I think it's always there, just masked by the bakery. It's like a steak was dropped behind a cabinet by accident and no one could find the smell. Like they throw the spoiled fish into a nearby trash bin and leave it perpetually for the next shift to take out because no one wants to do it. This remodel made things worse not better. Whoever designed changes needs another line of work. Manager constantly moving displays around like he has nothing else to do. Put temporary displays in aisles where there are posts so it is difficult to get out. Never enough baggers or cashiers. You would think summer they could easily get help from high school kids. Always out of items as they seem to only stock 4 of some things based on empty shelf space. Soda aisle is too narrow difficult for people to get items then get out. Something that was always in certain space on shelf moved to another aisle not just after remodel but continuously. Osco pharmacy keeps auto filling my presriptions even though I tell them to stop. Only reason I still go there is the TCF bank but that is becoming problematic now. I go to 159th and 94th Ave. for my groceries now. read more

Let me start by saying I have shopped this Jewel store for over 30 years. Today is my last time there! I was returning an item with the only receipt I have for item in question. Was not treated well by the customer service person. Backing up a bit, I through out all my spices and wanted to replenish them. With the help of a customer at the time I was able to get a multi mix by McCormick. Did not use the product till a month later and to my surprise the seal was broken. I've never had a bad experience with anyone there. The staff is nice enough, and willing to help. The pharmacy is awesome, though. They are very caring, and informative. I am very disappointed with this location. There was only one register open, the line was down the isle and all the people in line were upset. The guy that was at the register kept saying, I'm tired I'm tired, then he had to keep calling someone to checkout the liquor and that person just looked at the line and walked away. Poor management. This Jewel on 171st and Harlem he's got to be the worst Jewel I've ever patronized. Every single time I have ever gone in there for something at the deli I give here to wait at least 25 minutes it does not matter what time of day or what day you go they never have enough help on there!!!! I have talked to the manager there are numerous times about getting more help for what they could pay one employee for a day of work , they could have had their whole week salary in my one transaction. I live a few blocks away from this Jewel and I'll go out of my way to do my shopping at the Jewel on 127th and Harlem. This place is understaffed at all hours of the day. The checkout lines are ridiculous no matter how many items I have and the parking lot is a mess. They need to find a new location in Tinley where they can upgrade the size of the store and the size of the parking lot. And also hire some more bodies. This Jewel is exceptionally bad with staffing. I just ran in to get 4 things and waited in line for 19 mins. Called the store from my cell while i was waiting in line to ask of he could get another cashier. He very abruptly hung up. Never saw another cashier. This happened at about 9pm on todays date. I'm very disappointed in my shopping experience at this location. On a recent shopping trip I had a disturbed experience with a cashier. This cashier was very agitated and out of nowhere he started banging the screen as well its back panel. I thought he was about to break it. There was nothing wrong with computer, it was the cashier who was not in the right frame of mind.The cashier then started banging on the conveyor belt with his fist. The customer in front of me looked towards me as if we are witnessing this meltdown before our eyes. Then the cashier grabbed the coins wrapped in paper and cracked it hard over and over again. His frustration was noticeable and I was getting nervous of what was next. I wasn't sure if the cashier was actually coming off something? I only had a greeting card to buy and I left quickly. I nearby big box store with a bakery screwed up my order and did have nor were they willing to make sons graduation cake! I could walk to this store - it's that close to our house - but instead I drive the 5 minutes to Meijer. I only shop here in an emergency and generally it's an unpleasant experience.
