Nice small butcher shop in a strip mall off 159th Street ... the same mall that Mayan Palace is in. This was a nice stop for those special events when you want to serve beef ... high quality with prices to match, but the quality justifies the price. This is not a general store with a wide selection of items. It is more of a specialty house where you'll find typical butcher products. If you are looking for beef ... you've come to the right place. Relatively limited offerings of other items, but the main thing they do is done right. Sometimes they can be closed when you'd expect them to be open, but that probably comes with being a small business without a huge staff. We suspect they also supply some restaurants in the area and that may be their biggest customer. Good place for those special occasions. read more

Picked up a couple of Prime Ribeye Steaks cut to order @ 2 1/2" thickness for the men and four 8OZ Prime Filet Tenderloins for the gals. Grilled hot over lump charcoal with Pork Mafia's Buckshot Seasoning which is also sold @ Freedom Butchers. After reaching 120F on the grill, each steak was blessed with a globule of a garlic and herb compound butter. Steaks enjoyed a ten-minute rest, and the grill man enjoyed a frosty lager. I cook A LOT and am primarily carnivorous. I've cooked lots of meat in my time and I can tell you with a straight face that this is the best quality meat you will find in this entire state. The prime is like wagyu, the choice is like prime and I'm not kidding. Then there is the issue around pricing. I can't even believe how fair Joe is. He's not in this to nickel and dime us, he's in this because he has a passion for giving people wonderful meals to enjoy as a family. The last 5 times I've purchase from him (once an order of over 250lbs of various cuts) he literally raised my eyebrows when he told me the price and I had to ask him if he was sure he didn't forget something lol. I'm telling you, if you want to take your cooking game to the next level and try some of the best meat money can buy, go here. Pro tip: get yourself a duroc hog belly and make some burnt ends and pork belly tacos with lime. You guys keep getting that meat and I'll keep coming saying take my money. P.S. Meat, great quality. Business hours, questionable. I went there 3 times since the holidays, closed each time. I respect small business and sincerely appreciate and want to support them. Please be more transparent with the hours. Excellent shrimp, chicken leg quarters and brisket. Breakfast sausage is too salty for my taste. Although I kept hearing about Freedom Butchers from friends, I had never tried them. Then, I met the owner Joey while out with friends one evening. Very friendly guy and since he was wearing a t-shirt with Freedom butchers logo, we struck up a conversation with him. I love supporting small businesses, but as usual, 'life' happens... and months passed before I thought about it again. Then I saw a post on facebook about heart-shaped ribeyes. My son has been very helpful to me as I have struggled with health issues since Christmas, so I thought I would treat him to a steak for Valentine's Day. My son is a carnivore and knows/enjoys a nice variety of meats. He called me after he lightly seasoned and cooked this huge steak which barely fit in his cast iron skillet. He could not stop talking about the taste/tenderness of the steak. I will definitely be going back !!! Support small businesses, their prices and their customer service is superior over chain stores. Absolutely LOVE this butcher shop. I've never bought anything here I didn't like or love for that matter. Their chuck roasts are to die for, the best you'll ever find. Excellent high-quality butcher shop. I stopped in to ask about ground lamb, which he does not currently carry (he does seem to have some other unground lamb products), but he does have a wide variety of beef, pork, chicken, some seafood, some deli meats, etc. There was a woman before me buying fresh Italian sausages, too. I got a couple choice t-bones that were on sale at an amazing price. Those are going on the grill this weekend. He carries both choice and prime meats. I should add that the steaks and chops are cut to your preference while you're there, I got mine half-inch. there is a freezer with some stuff in it too, if you just want to grab and go. This is the real deal. The owner is a really nice guy who was welcoming and eager to talk about his new business. He's a little hard to find, but if you go to the same mall where Mayan Palace is and head towards the hookah place that burned down, it will be on your left, eventually. Watch for the small sign. Very Clean place to get fresh cut meat. They were extremely informative on what meats have a certain amount of fat on them and how the taste is different. I went in for some pork chops and came out with beef patties, polish sausage and Italian beef. We came home and made the hamburgers on the grill and they we amazing! I highly recommend! read more

Repeat customer here. Purchased the Prime bone in Ribeye steaks for our anniversary dinner. My husband requested steak again for his birthday. Since we just had the ribeye steaks two days ago - which by the way were outstanding - I decided to try the Prime strip steaks as recommended by at least one other review. This cut did not disappoint. The steak was delicately firm with a rich beefy flavor. I typically avoid this cut of meat due to the "toughness" I have experienced from purchasing it from the grocery stores. Joe again displayed patience and grace. It was getting a little busy and some of the customers were newbies like me who were not used to the personalized service of having meat hand cut for our needs.
