Venturing deep in the western suburbs of Chicago in search of a feed store (to buy cracked corn or oats to feed to geese,) we grabbed a snack here. Currently visiting my parents, we have been off the healthful diet and ...it's starting to show. Our snack today is precut fruit. It's yummy and I already feel delightfully sanctimonious-- or perhaps "snacktimonious?" The store is clean, the produce is fresh, and the woman at the self check was a delightful conversationalist. 10/10 read more

Don't know what happened to the jewel in west Chicago but it needs to be cleaned. I went in a month ago and there is so much product and garbage stuffed under the shelves it's just unsanitary. There was a bottle sticking halfway out from under the shelf and the isle for a week...same bottle...finally I picked it up. This store is only a few blocks from my home so I'm in there 3-4 times a week...took pics a month ago and the garbage and food is still sitting under the shelves!! The koolaid isle and pasta isle look like they haven't been cleaned ever!! Just gross....please someone clean up this store!! read more

The prices in this store are astronomical. When you shop here you absolutely get sticker shock. This is the most expensive grocery store. I've shopped in for a long, long time. I can't see this location being in business for much longer with their pricing. If you want to buy something on sale, you have to buy 2,3, or five of them that is absolutely ridiculous. Just another example of corporate greed, being put way ahead of their customers. What a shame. read more

We went to this location on a whim because we needed pasta and didn't feel like driving far. We didn't check the expiration date and bought expired pasta. Yes, it was somewhat our fault for not checking, but it's also not cool to leave expired food out on the shelf, especially after 2 months of being expired. My guess is that Jewel is trying to sell expired products to people, just so they don't have to take a loss. Either way, the employees should be checking the "best by" dates on food before stocking it. Final thoughts: if you can go elsewhere, you probably should. read more

Sometimes habits are hard to break. I'll stop into the Chefs Kitchen for a quick lunch, and that's the point...it's never quick! They have several choices of prepared chicken...hot wings, pressure fried, pressure oven, steam pressure, high pressure, low pressure and atmospheric pressure. The ovens line the back wall. Your choices are endless. The point is that the taste, texture and tenderness of whatever chicken preference you choose, the quality is respectable. That's a corporate decision. The service you receive is independent and a local decision. The inconsistency here is mind boggling. Hey, you can get 4 pieces of chicken and a half dozen of broasted potato wedges for around 5 bucks! Just came to this jewel to order pin wheels, they proceeded to ask me when I needed them, and then ignored me, and then sent some other lady out to tell me they don't sell them at this location, yet every other jewel in a 10 mile radius sells them as well as on their website it says they do... maybe don't have a sign that says you'll make wraps/sandwiches etc. above your deli if you're not going to do your job and make them. read more

I love coming here because the manager is so sweet I know some of the emlpyees might disagree with me but I have good eye of character the manager has always helped and has fix the mistakes the employees do by over charging me and returning my change back. I like the fact that on Wednesdays they have specials. Jewels have a big selection of Hispanic products so if I need milagro tortillas that is my place to get them. Just be cautious when you pay because this store has a late start on putting the sales signs. The register chargers regular prices on sales prices so if you are in a hurry all the time like yours truly I get home and realized I had been over charged. Darn it! Literally the service could not have been worse. 9pm on a Friday.....only 1 checkout aisle and 15 people in it. The poor cashier was asking for help and the lady at the front desk was on a personal call, ignoring him. When she finally came out to help, she had a horrible attitude. I used to do my late night grocery shopping here. Unfortunately, this store is no longer open 24/7. Now, I have to take a break from my nocturnal lifestyle whenever I wanna take advantage of any sales or preferred card deals. Oh well, so I can't do my grocery shopping late at night when there's nobody there. I can live with shopping with all the people that go to bed at a decent time. It's a clean store with friendly and helpful employees. I'm a fan of the self checkout & express lanes because sometimes I only need a few items, but I'll stick with my 3 stars until they return to being open late night. read more

Big store but gets awfully crowded at peak times; there aisles are very narrow and you can't stop without clogging up the crowd, luckily most people are nice. If they have all the checkout lanes open you will get out fast, if not watch out. Not many options for shopping in this growing area, hopefully there will be more stores to ease the congestion. I'm only leaving this bad review to let people know that if you are gluten free -- this location has absolutely NOTHING. They have a small 2 shelf section in the frozen department filled with only Udi bread. And Udi bread is disgusting. I'm sad. I just wanted g-free pizza. read more

I love shopping at this store. The employees have always been very friendly to me. I love that it's smaller then most Jewels. I don't have to search everywhere for an item, or fight other customers to get across the split Isles like at the bigger stores, and I can get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. The store building its self needs a little updating, but all in all I think it's a great store! read more

Don't order a party tray from the Deli online. What the Jewel webpage has listed online is not what this store will give you (but will charge the same price). I ordered 3 sandwich trays for a party in which they were missing cheese, and tomatoes and pickles on the side. After I complained the manager of the store insisted on telling me that cheese is extra. I had to read what the website advertised. He did apologize and give me a $20 gift card, however I don't think I should have had to explain what comes on a sandwich party tray. Plus the store is a dump. read more

Like most all other chains of Jewel this one has the self check-out and a TFC Bank available for its patrons. I agree with Ismael G. in that this store should be open 24/7 for those emergency late night runs for either food or medicine at the pharmacy. The store is clean and the employees are friendly, but my three star rating is due to the hours of operation, the logistical problems that occur with the cars from the gas station, and the need for the re-pavement by the entrance to Jewel. read more
