We went to this location on a whim because we needed pasta and didn't feel like driving far. We didn't check the expiration date and bought expired pasta. Yes, it was somewhat our fault for not checking, but it's also not cool to leave expired food out on the shelf, especially after 2 months of being expired. My guess is that Jewel is trying to sell expired products to people, just so they don't have to take a loss. Either way, the employees should be checking the "best by" dates on food before stocking it. Final thoughts: if you can go elsewhere, you probably should.

Since this location opened just a few blocks from our home, Caputo's quickly became our go-to…read moreneighborhood market. My husband shops there at least three times a week, which says a lot about how much we've relied on it over the years. We genuinely like this store, but lately we've noticed a decline in the quality of the produce. Things like tomatoes appearing shriveled or, at times, even moldy. It's disappointing, especially for a place we trust for everyday shopping. I also attempted to place an order for Easter dinner, something we've done many times in the past. Prices have increased quite a bit, so this year I decided to keep it simple and order just the lamb. The online system didn't allow me to select the date I needed, so I called for help. That's where things became frustrating. I spoke with Chef Jose, and communication was difficult. I asked if he spoke Spanish, since it's my native language and I thought it might help. His response felt dismissive, mentioning he speaks Italian and other things, but the interaction itself came across as borderline rude and unhelpful. That impression was later echoed by the front desk, who suggested I contact another chef. Chef Doug, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. Even though we played a bit of phone tag, he consistently followed up with a helpful and kind attitude, which I truly appreciated. Overall, this is still a market we want to love. It has been part of our routine and community. But between the recent produce issues and inconsistent customer service, it has been a bit disappointing compared to what it once was. I'm hopeful they find their way back to the quality and warmth that made them our favorite local market in the first place. BTW, one must place the order all the way to the paying screen to be able to select the desire pick up date.

I ordered the three beef taco dinner and my guest had a Harlem Sandwich which was Italian beef and Italian sausage. Both were delicious. They also have a bar area. After lunch we finished our grocery shopping! My tip, check out the bakery with the homemade Italian cookies and fresh bread!
