I scheduled an appointment for my elderly mother, who is disabled and has significant difficulty…read morewalking. The earliest appointment available was approximately six weeks away, and my parents had to drive an hour to get there. The appointment was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. I arrived at 11:23 a.m. and informed the front desk that my mother was still on her way and would likely arrive about 10 minutes late. I also explained that, because of her disability, she needed additional time to walk from the parking area and take the elevator to the second floor. I specifically asked whether she could still be seen, and I was told that as long as she arrived by 11:45 a.m., it would not be a problem. The staff provided me with a tablet to begin completing her paperwork. While I was finishing it, my mother arrived. I briefly stepped outside to direct her where to go and left the tablet on the table. When I returned, the staff had already taken the tablet and informed me that the doctor would not see her, despite the fact that it was only 11:44 a.m. and she was literally walking into the office. After I explained the situation, one staff member indicated they would try to work her into the schedule, while another said the doctor had refused and that we would need to reschedule. We then spent another 10-15 minutes discussing the issue, during which time the appointment could likely have already begun. What is most frustrating is that I was initially told she would be seen if she arrived by 11:45 a.m., yet that commitment was not honored. Had I been told from the beginning that there was absolutely no flexibility, I could have made other arrangements or sought care elsewhere. My mother has a serious eye condition and now faces further delays in receiving treatment. Given her disability, age, and the effort required to attend the appointment, I expected a greater degree of understanding and accommodation. Unfortunately, our experience left us feeling that her circumstances were not taken into consideration.

LOVED Dr. Burt, however the office and the retail section's customer service is subpar at best…read more It's been one thing after another with the office staff- lack of customer service, not answering emails or returning calls. My favorite was Dr Burt was sick- cool, it happens we are humans. I get a text at 7 AM, fine, I call back after they left a message saying they had a spot for me. Male receptionist with an accent tells me he sees no spots then hangs up. I call back and ask to speak with Christina Pittinger the office manager. "I have no idea who you talked to or where they are but I have an appointment for you", alright, where's the ownership/apology/accountability piece. I had been waiting for two months to get in so fine, I'll be there. Show up, only to be guided through the office by three different people who had the personalities of wet dry wall. Dr Burt comes in and blows me away with his care, the amount of time he spent with me and him taking the time to educate me. I go to the retail selection, it wasn't great- selection was very synonymous and not for the fun or funky. The young lady was kind, spent the time to hear me and found two other color ways in the frames I settled on. I'm told it will be 7-10 days. Cool! I had work travel and had to buy a new phone amongst all of it so I call the office to check on the status. Paula, answers the phone. Paula is the "that's nice/bless your heart" kinda gal. Which fine. I start to explain who I am and asking for an update. She cuts me off and starts talking over me exclaiming that it hasn't been 10 days. When I start to explain I was told 7-10. She cuts me off with "we recently changed and it must be old habits or you didn't hear properly". Ma'am as someone who works exclusively in customer service it's all about ownership and accountability. As soon as I open my mouth to respond- she hangs up. I call back and get the sweet baby angel who helped with my eye wear! I feel hope! Then have to wait for Paula again, who is standing ten toes deep with no accountability for her office. Then says it's only been a week. I explain that if she had listened she would know I had been traveling and was told 7-10 days and wanting to be sure I didn't miss anything but she had hung up. She stated she was trying to be helpful and I was being rude. I explained she wasn't actively listening and she was being rude she just didn't want to hear what I was saying. I also explained this is why the reviews on yelp and google as well as social media looks the way it does. Then she hmmmpf me. I will be calling to follow up about her behavior on the phone with me but I guarantee the same office manager who talked to me previously when I was told there was no appointment is going to say no Paula works there or she has no idea who I am talking about. I'll go back for Dr Burt but moving forward I am taking my eye wear dollars to Sally's Optical Secrets in Charlotte.

When the assistant came in I asked, "Is that it? He didn't examine my eyes." She said, "Oh yes. He's really fast." And that was it. I was stunned. I didn't even know his name. I had to ask. Honestly, I was treated very wonderfully by the staff and by Dr. Colletto! They were all caring and understanding especially with it being so cold outside this morning that I was shaking, and my GPS was of no help (you have to love Siri). Everyone there was kind, attentive, and very friendly. I didn't wait long to get taken back to get tests before Dr. Colletto came in and they were busy! Keep in mind for some of the negative reviews just because your appointment is scheduled for a certain time, doesn't always mean you get in at that exact minute. No type of doctor gets right in at the exact minute. I don't understand the negative reviews, because I found my new optometrist and I won't be changing! Honestly, it was a 10/10 experience for me or should I say 20/20?

Let me preface my review with a little background. I have been wearing eye glasses since I was 3…read moreyears old, and I am now 65. So this review comes after a lifetime of experience with eye professionals and opticians. I have never been so satisfied with an eye doctor, optician, or office. First, the professionalism, depth of care, and individual attention are unsurpassed. Dr. Foust spends a great deal of time making absolutely certain about the health of the eyes and about the corrective prescription. If you like learning more about your eyes, their care, and the science behind the procedures, this is where you want to be. I learned more about my eyes, about undiscovered issues, and about the eye care profession in one visit than I learned in all my previous visits combined. This past weekend I had a fall and started having some retinal issues with one eye. Once I checked out the symptoms and found I needed to have a doctor look at my eye, I called Dr. Foust's office, and they got me in extremely quickly. Dr. Foust conducted a thorough exam, explained my symptoms, gave me instructions for care, and helped me understand what to look for in case my symptoms worsened. Again, he also provided a wealth of background and scientific information to help me understand more deeply. It doesn't hurt that he is friendly, welcoming, and patient. The optician, Robert McBee, is just as amazing! I have a wide head, and searching for frames is always stressful and frustrating. Robert took one look at me, picked out 4 frames that were lovely and fit my head comfortably. That's how well he knows his stock and his clients. He also does all the jobs of an optical shop - no assistants that might make errors or sell you the wrong frame. He fit the frame and lenses to my prescription carefully before he ordered the glasses. His philosophy is that when you pick up your glasses, they should perfectly fit your face and eyes without adjustment - and they did! His knowledge of lens technology is amazing, and I left the appointment with a great deal of information. I will continue to use this business for the rest of my life!

Here's my…read moreupdated and response: Rebuttal to Dr. Dutson: Dr. Dutson, I am absolutely a former patient of your practice, and I stand by every word of my review. It's disappointing to see you respond not by addressing the concerns I raised, but by questioning whether I was ever a patient at all. That's not only false--it's a deflection from the real issue: I paid for new designer frames and was given used/demo ones from your display wall. I wasn't even provided the proper designer case they normally come with, just a generic one that didn't fit properly. That is not acceptable, and it certainly isn't ethical. You claim to have searched your patient database but couldn't verify me--yet somehow you sent me a private message on Yelp with direct contact info. That doesn't align. You also claim I would have responded if I were a real patient. I did not respond because I already attempted to contact your office directly before ever posting a review, and I was ignored. Only after leaving honest public feedback did I receive any acknowledgment. This pattern of dismissing concerns and redirecting the narrative is exactly what motivated me to leave a review. My intent was not to harm your business, but to protect future patients from the experience I had. That is the purpose of reviews. I hope you will take accountability rather than attempting to discredit dissatisfied patients. Charlotte.

This office refused unless I scheduled and paid for another appointment I do not need. They lost my entire household as patients today. Then I asked for my medical records so I could take my care somewhere that actually respects patients. They wanted $35 per chart and tried to pressure me into paying over the phone. When I said I needed the records today, the response from Haley was no promises, maybe 24 hours. Then the office manager bumped it to 48. Medical records belong to the patient. Charging predatory fees and slow-walking the release when someone is trying to leave your practice tells you everything about how this office operates. The DMV form refusal is a billing strategy dressed up as policy. Find a provider who is not running their front desk like a toll booth.

Dr. Coletto's office never did fix this so we had to pay out of pocket. We stopped going there because of this for a couple of years. Decided to give them another try and the issues continue. This time my son and I went for an eye exam. We both ordered contacts. Mine came in in about a week. My son's took a month. I kept calling and asking about them and kept being told they weren't in. Finally after a month I called and asked that they could give my son another trial pair of contacts as he had now been wearing his current pair for a month since the ones we ordered have taken so long to come in. I was put on hold and after a few minutes, the lady came back to the phone and stated that oh they had indeed found my son's contacts and I could come pick them up. How they all of a sudden found them when I asked for another free trial pair is pretty suspicious. Fast forward to this week, my husband goes for his eye exam. It is a disaster from the beginning. Apparently they have had a large turnover in their office employees and most are new (not at all shocked given the clown show this place is). The appointment took over an hour, no one knew what was going on, and to top it all off, my husband's debit card was double charged for his $70 copay. When I realized this the next day after checking our bank account, I called them to ask that the second duplicate charge be refunded. This was at 9:00 am. I was told the manager would have to call me back. 3:00 pm comes and I have still not received a call. I called back - had to call 3 times in a row because they don't answer their phone either. I was told they would write my name and number down and the manager would call me back. I told them we've already tried that and I need to speak to the manager now. I was put on hold and finally the "manager" got on the line and told me that she had spoken to Dr. Colletto at lunch and he said we have to wait 24-48 hours to ensure the double charged isn't just pending and actually gets posted. Now, I work in AR. I deal with pending and posted transactions every single day. I also know how to read my bank account which clearly states what is pending and what is posted. Both charges posted on 9/2. I offered to send the manager a copy of the statement to prove the charge was duplicated and posted and she said she would have to talk to Dr. Colletto "next time he walks by" to approve the refund. I told her she had until 5:00 pm and that if she didn't call me back I would file a dispute with my bank. She never called back. At 9:00 am today I decided to give them one more chance to do the honest and right thing so I called back. I was told the "manager" wouldn't be in the office until 2:30 and she is the ONLY person who can do refunds. I hung up and proceeded to file a dispute through my bank. I have also filed a complaint with the SC Board of Optometry and the SC Division of Consumer Affairs which I also told the lady on the phone this morning. She couldn't have cared less. No apology- nothing. Lo and behold at 12:30 my husband received a voicemail stating they are trying to refund him and need to speak with him. Too late. The dispute has been initiated. I guess the "manager" isn't the only one who can do refunds after all since the lady that called was not the manager I spoke to and it was before 2:30 when she was supposed to be in the office. This place is a joke and the most unprofessional medical office I have ever been in. Everyone should double check their bank statements too if you have paid for anything with them. Apparently they like to double charge patients without taking ownership of their mistake and trying to make it right without first giving people the runaround. I will be taking my business to a reputable optometrist from now own.
