Seeing we had chosen a winner, we added more and more projects to the list, to include some landscaping, redirection of water service, reworking our lighting and electrical service, replacing sidewalk sections lifted by tree roots, painting, window and door replacement, gutter and roof work, finish carpentry, and many other needs. After a couple dozen projects, we were rewarded by having things completed on time and for the expected costs. We had only a couple surprises, but they were unforeseen by both sides and reasonable for the kind of construction at hand. JAB Construction has done several projects for me over the past year. I started hiring Jeff, the…read moreowner, to solve a leak problem in my exercise room. Jeff was very knowledgeable in figuring out where the leak came from and recommended a waterproofing solution. As it turned out, the leak was coming from my big planter attached to the side of the house behind the exercise room. Once we scheduled the project, resources were assigned promptly and the job was completed over a period of 2 weeks. JAB is the best in waterproofing! Next, I asked JAB to bid for a complete remodel of one of my apartment unit in an old Edwardian building in San Francisco. The project involved a total gut of the unit, rearranging my kitchen and bedroom layouts, installing a brand new kitchen and bathroom, replacing all old windows with new ones, repairing and refinishing my original hardwood floors, and installing a new fireplace. JAB handled all permits required. JAB's workers and subcontractors used were very professional. They arrived on time each day and were very clean in the work area. Overall, I am very happy with the results. JAB's bids on both projects came in the middle range of my bids from other contractors. Jeff is a very knowledgeable contractor and easy to work with! His price is very reasonable comparable to the quality of work he delivers. I found John through friend's friend and hired him to landscape the whole front and back yards in spring 2019. We had no landscape done after the house construction and did not work with any of the hardscape designers. John took our input and did the initial design, and have gone through several iterations to finalize the design and got to work to actually execute. The whole process took ~5 months as it was a huge project with several design changes in between. John is very professional in communicating and also he takes a huge proud of his work, often suggesting different ideas that we haven't thought about that was super helpful. That's not without saying that everything was smooth for the whole 5 months. We had couple of conflicts that neither were happy about, but the real character shows when you go through these adversities; every time, we were able to close our differences and grew our partnerships. One example was his team did not deliver the quality work for the front parking strip concrete, we were unhappy with the outcome. John did not deny this and we agreed on a patch-work solution that we weren't still happy about. Next day, he told me he'd haul the whole 35' parking strip concrete and redo the whole thing again and he did. I know it cost him several thousand dollars but he definitely earned my trust and I can comfortably recommend him to everyone.
