First off special thanks to the dream Team Melvin, Alejandro, Miguel, Alex for making our home landscaping look 110% beautiful! We were interviewing 5 other landscaping and hardscaping companies and not only did Xavier fit our personalities but he also helped us budget our outdoor project into phases which helps us financially. He even worked with us without a designer (due to our tight budget) but if you need one Xavier suggests Grimes Natural Landscaping. If you're not willing or don't have the time to learn plants and paver layout then hire a designer. Although Xavier has great natural instincts and experience on all landscaping design (I feel he should also incorporate being a designer). The Team is clean, thorough, communicative, careful (with gas pipes, waterlines, etc.), and they are actually certified to do more (previous GC messed up our master bathroom pipes and they fixed it: plumbing). E.g. Xavier touches basis with you on a daily basis and when he says they will get it done a certain day it gets done rain or shine unless it rains too much. I have worked with Xavier and crew in two projects. One project involved creating a French drain for a sloped walkway that received a lot of the neighborhood's rain water. This review is a bit overdue but wanted to give a big shout out for a job well done by Lemus Landscaping and Excavation. Xavier and his crew expertly converted my empty koi ponds into a little zen retreat and couldn't be happier with the results. Tried contacting several other excavation companies with little interest. Either they considered the job not worth their time or they weren't interested in helping me preserve existing landscaping around the area. However, Xavier and team were able to expertly break down and fill in the all three ponds while totally preserving the existing, landscape perimeter. Little if any 'collateral' damage was experienced. An added plus was that they were able to do the job without having to take down a side fence to get equipment into the backyard. Was also very impressed that he provided job photos throughout the process. Friends, trying to find a quality landscape company in the Bay Area may sound like an easy task but I assure you it is not. I worked with a landscape designer and had my plan in hand before interviewing landscaping companies and the pricing was all over the map (if you could even find someone to come to your house and give you an estimate)! I found Lemus Landscaping on Yelp and Xavier replied immediately. We had a few exchanges over text but he came to the house within a day or so to review my design, take necessary measurements and give me a quote. He was able to start work within 2 weeks of the initial deposit. Almost every other company had hidden fees, or "oh, you want that? wellll.... that's gonna cost extra!" In fact, most companies I interviewed wouldn't even pick up the plants on our list versus having us get them on our own. Who wants to deal with that? Lemus managed everything from demolition, to ordering plants and mulch, to installing a quality irrigation system, to then execute on our design perfectly. He also warranties his work. I was thrilled that he was familiar with the Santa Clara County low-water/grass replacement initiative and was able to ensure the materials he used were compliant with this program. Yes, there were a couple things that adjusted the pricing, but weren't included in the initial quote. When the adjustment was made, I was shocked how reasonable it was. I had a follow-up issue when the job was complete and he came by personally on the same day to ensure things were working properly. Were they the most expensive option? I wanted the overgrowth removed, but all the intentionally placed plants to stay/be trimmed, and Xavier and his team definitely delivered on that. I shopped around for awhile to find someone who could put everything back together, fix mistakes, and carry out the remainder of the design. We found Lemus on Yelp when we were looking for someone to finish incomplete work from a previous landscaper. A message was sent through Yelp and Xavier responded right away. We met him within the next few days and we went over what we needed. He was very helpful on helping us decide what to do to clean up the front and back yard. We've always had a huge problem with weeds growing everywhere ever since we moved in. Even after multiple previous landscapers cleared out the weeds, we never did anything to prevent the weeds from growing because we weren't sure what we wanted for our front and back yards. Xavier and his team ripped out our previous artificial turf in our front yard because weeds were poking through. They prepped and added weed barrier before the new artificial turf, and then added small pebbles between the turf and cement floor. In the front and side of our house, new soil was mixed in with our current soil before shrubs were planted, and then organic bark placed around the shrubs. At the front of our house along the sidewalk, cobblestones were added. In our backyard, they removed tons of weeds again, put in weed barrier before the organic bark, they added another 2 rows of pavers next to existing ones, installed an irrigation system, and put down more weed barrier on the large area where we only had dirt. They even placed weed barrier between the fence and cement floor before adding the bark. Xavier and his team was always friendly, punctual, and they cleaned up after themselves. We never had to worry about them going off track or making a mess. What we loved about Xavier was that he gave us great suggestions without being pushy, and every time we needed to add or change anything, him and his team followed through. He even stopped by a few times after the work was complete to make sure our baby shrubs were doing well. We are really happy with the work and will definitely reach out to Xavier again for our future projects. I had an amazing experience with Xavier and his crew. Xavier stood out in the way he estimated his bid, guided me on material selection, executing the job and then following up conscientiously afterwards. I had gotten lots of bids and Xavier was only one of two who asked me detailed questions about dimensions, materials and construction methods. There's like a gazillion ways to make walls..he talked through the options, made recs and then honored my choices. When it came time to select materials, he connected me with a vendor and then followed up with him to ensure we got it in time. He has a sharp eye for aesthetics and nudged me in color choice directions that would match my yard. Xavier is detailed oriented and remembers the small choices we made. During the execution of the job, they were quick, effective and did great work in my opinion. In different stages of construction, Xavier would ask for some feedback as well as explain what he was doing. It was always clear what I was paying for. Lastly, the guy really does follow up. We had some sprinkler issues and he came out after the job to check it out. Turns out it wasn't him but he helped me find the problem. Same for a drain pipe thing where I needed an extension. He couldn't come out but directed me to the exact part I would need. I was looking to get my dead backyard landscaped and was recommended to Lemus. Xavier responded to my email within a few hours on a Friday. He came out early the following week and we discussed a couple options. I was looking for something that didn't require much water but still needed a small patch of grass for my pup. He started work that weekend and was done in a day and a half. He would have finished in 1 day but the sod he ordered was sold to someone else. He drove around for 2 hours looking for new sod. Lemus Landscaping completed our front yard transformation from unattractive dying lawn to beautiful drought tolerant xeriscape in August of 2022. This project included excavation/disposal of lawn & old cement walkways, movement of existing river rock for use in a new location, removal/disposal of shrubs, placement of full yard landscape fabric, placement of tanbark and river rock with metal landscape edging, and conversion of a sprinkler system to a drip-line watering system. Xavier Lemus was our main contact and he had great communication with us from start to finish through all phases of the project, including checking in a few weeks after the completion of the project. We researched and gathered 3 bids which were all within $1,000 of one another. We chose Lemus for the following reasons: 1. Thoroughness of the itemized bid, 2. Excellent communication, 3. I don't usually write reviews but these guys deserve 5 stars and beyond. I needed some landscaping done around a hillside pool. Xavier came out promptly and gave me some great ideas and a very reasonable quote. The access was challenging and there were tons of piping from the pool to carefully negotiate while doing their work. The workers did a masterful job of accomplishing the goals of the project and made it even better than I had envisioned. When the pipes made it difficult to do things the traditional way, they called Xavier and they came up with creative ways to get the job done. This speaks to their experience and skill level. Xavier even threw in a couple of additional features that we had not discussed beforehand and drove around to pick up the items to make it happen. He is also a very pleasant and engaging guy beyond being fair and skilled.
