Spring is here and we are now seeing the damage left by winter. Leaky roofs, flooded basements and…read moremessed up cars. The latter for me. I wanted to write this short review as a follow up on the great service provided by Tom & son's at their great establishment. So, I went into Philly a few weeks before the big snow storm and possibly hit a speed bump, and possibly caught some air with a not so smooth landing. Two weeks later we had the biggest storm of the year. I had to leave my home and I drove on a street near my home that hadn't been plowed yet. After that I started hearing a scratching sound every time I left my driveway and occasionally on the road. When I checked I saw I had dented a panel that covers the front end of my car. I decided to head to Tom's one day while doing some errands to see if he could take care of it. Just a pop-in. I told what had happened and he could actually see it from just looking under, so he can let me know when to bring it in and all that. He figured the part and asked if I had bought it already cus I did bring him my fog light before. He remembered. So I told him no, he'd have to order it. He said to bring it in and they'd use the lift. In my head I was like, really now?! Cool! A young man I believe his son, asked for my keys and drove it in and put it on the lift. He said the damage was minimal and nothing else seamed to be at all. He took out the panel and reworked it back to normal. The whole experience was only about 20 min and the cool part was they let me stay inside while doing it! They brought the car down and asked Tom "How much I owe'ya?" He said "Nah, don't worry about it." I said really? Let me at least give you something for lunch or something for you guys. And he said you're good don't worry about it. I thanked him with a firm handshake and hug and thanked his son as well and went about my day. It was a minor thing but it had a world of difference to me, not only that he didn't charge but just giving that feeling of how my fellow man could help me out in a time of need. I was very relieved because had that not been fixed other issues could arise (Think of Newman when he hit that sewing machine on the highway) that's what I was worried about. Hahaha! This business is truly in my heart and should be in yours too, so stop in, they are local! I said I'd be visiting them again, and I was riiight! :)

DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!…read more On 10/3/25, my husband paid Lee Wiles / Common Vision LLC $1,020 (plus a $281 tip) for axle and brake repair. Less than 24 hours later, the car broke down in a dangerous way. AAA confirmed the repair was unsafe and improperly done, and another certified mechanic verified this. The axle came out and nearly caused a serious accident. When I contacted him, instead of refunding the payment, he admitted in text messages that "the axle came out" but refused to return the money. He also tried to deflect responsibility by making inappropriate comments about race and insisted on "fixing" it again -- despite my clear statements that I no longer trusted him after such unsafe work. I have full documentation: receipt, CashApp payment, AAA confirmation, mechanic statement, and text messages from his phone. This needs to be on record to prevent him from scamming and endangering others. He is also not listed with the BBB as a registered business -- but I have filed a complaint so there will now be a record. If he scammed you too, REPORT HIM. Businesses that operate this way do not last. Add On: It's not harassment to ask for my money back after a repair failed in less than 24 hours and almost caused an accident. AAA confirmed the axle came out because of improper work, and a certified mechanic verified this. I provided proof: receipt, CashApp payment, and text messages where Mr. Wiles himself admitted "the axle came out." I made it very clear that I would not allow him to touch my car again after such an unsafe repair. At that point, the only responsible action was to issue a refund. Instead, he refused, deflected responsibility, and made inappropriate comments about race. This is not about being "nice" or "polite." It's about safety, integrity, and accountability. I stand by my review and documentation. Others deserve to know what happened so they can protect themselves. DO NOT TRUST HIM!!

RE: Common Vision. Lee is the kind of mechanic who is passionate about diagnosing car problems and…read morefinding solutions. I found him here on Yelp and hired him for a PPI to look at a 2003 Tiburon. A family member is an enthusiast for these old cars which they wanted to make into a "hot hatch". I met Lee at the dealer, which was a long drive to the dealer for both of us. And of course the car was in a back lot 3 or 4 rows deep. So while waiting for the dealer to find the car and bring it to the front, Lee noticed some teenagers who were there to look at a Civic SI. One of them was checking for rust by knocking his knuckles on the car body. Lee smiled at this and went over to chat with them and before you know it, he was reviewing the car with them, explaining how you really check for rust, opened the hood and began digging into how to tell if this Civic was running well or not. He looks underneath the car by getting on the ground and actually looking. I noticed all the other guys, both the dealer guys and the buyers, were hesitant to do this. I think they were intimidated because he obviously knew much more about engines than they did. I was impressed that Lee has the instincts of an educator. He really wants to not just evaluate the car but to teach others how to examine a car. Eventually the Tiburon appears and then Lee quickly went through his process. He focuses on the engine and doesn't move on from that until all issues are covered. In this case, he zeroed in immediately on the coolant system. It wasn't holding pressure. I watched as he carefully tested and retested and showed the dealer technician that the system was bad and that it was leaking. We had already been there for an hour and a half so it was decided that the dealer would pull a hose from another car ( the dealer was close to a salvage yard) and repair it and then Lee would return to test it again. In the end, even the dealer gave up on this car, he didn't complete any repair and we moved on. But I will have Lee examine any car we are considering. He is an excellent mechanic, fair and honest.

I'll start this review by saying that in my opinion Willow Grove Auto is THE BEST automotive…read morerepair/maintenance location in this area by FAR! For years my boyfriend, mom and I had been taking our cars to places like Pep Boys. Where the service was average, the cost was pretty steep, and well, it's overall just very impersonal. Half the time I felt like there would be a major problem WITH my car AFTER taking it to them for something routine. Luckily, about 8 years ago we found Willow Grove Auto. And I can never imagine taking our vehicles to anyone else now. First off, its a family run business located right by the Willow Grove Mall. The owner Bernie is a great guy who clearly prides himself on giving customers excellent care, fantastic customer service, and the best price he can give you. In fact, there are always deals or specials, like coupons for inspection, etc. The mechanics there are AMAZING. They are VERY experienced and are great at both older cars (like mine which is a 99 Plymouth Voyager) or newer vehicles. So many times I have described a problem over the phone or when dropping off the car and before they even look at it, they have a good idea of what the problem may be, and what I can expect to pay. They are also excellent at figuring out more complicated issues. I've run into some pretty odd issues with my van after a car accident and they do everything to take care of the problem at a very reasonable price. There's been many times when we have needed help in an emergency. For example, we got a flat tire while leaving for a vacation. We dropped by and they were able to fix it within a half hour so we could get on our way. Growing up I always heard things like "you can't trust mechanics". Or since I am a girl "Make sure you bring a man with you when taking your car in". LOL These statements are just RIDICULOUS when it comes to Willow Grove Auto and do not even SLIGHTLY apply. They do EVERYTHING they can to give you a fair price, an honest evaluation. I can't tell you how many times they have talked to me and explained EXACTLY what they were going to do so I wasn't in the dark. They are always upfront and honest. If they recommend something, it means you need it. These guys aren't gonna go and sell you new tires just to make money if you don't need them. But they WILL do everything they can to keep your vehicle up and running smoothly and safely. And finally, they make the experience simple and pleasant. Everyone is friendly. They take the time to get to know their customers and familiarize themselves with your needs. I'm often surprised by how much they remember without even looking up the details in the system! They also know money is tight for me, so they ALWAYS call with an estimate before doing anything major to the vehicle. I could go on and on about how great they are but rather than do that, I urge you to take your vehicle to them just once. Because I have a feeling that after one visit, you will never want to go anywhere else again. Thank you to everyone there for being so great!
