I wavered between 2 or 3 stars and landed on three because of the effort put forth to stay humble and true to the past. I owned a similar restaurant in the mid 70's in a small town. On the way home after a couple of days eating mostly German food in Helen, Georgia I was in the mood for a good ole 'Merican hamburger and fries - well maybe not since the hamburger is supposed to have originated in Hamburg, Germany... My wife did a Yelp! search and I have always wanted to try this place, so we took the short detour off I-24 to give it a go. To be fair, there burgers as "made" daily, but... The menu says grilled which is technically true - a flat-top is a grill, but that description just gave off backyard grill vibes with grill marks. Now, I love a good flat-top grilled burger, but these had little flavor. I remember mine back in the day was a deep brown from daily use and imparted an amazing flavor that was missing here. The fries? Standard old institutional crinkle cut fries OR you could get the battered fries or onion rings for an upcharge - I did as did my wife for the onion rings. Disappointed as both were institutional frozen fare as well - and they were NOT cooked to order made worse because we got it to go and went to Sonic to get a milkshake. You read that right - Jiffy doesn't sell milkshakes. At least they were not on the menu. I'm glad those that love it have a place like this - it does have a great vibe but fell way short of my mouth-watering expectations! Bummed, because after tip and two shakes from Sonic, this detour cost us close to $40.00. We did get the platters which also included a salad or slaw - my bad. I had the grilled bacon cheeseburger served on grilled toast with tots, comes dressed out with lettuce and tomato and pickles. You can add onions if you like. My wife had the cheeseburger platter with fries and coleslaw. You can change the fries to tots or battered fries or onion rings for an up charge. read more

We live near this place and for the longest wanted to try it as it's always got cars filling it up. This is the second time eating here and food is consistent which is a good thing. Their cheeseburgers are a decent size and comes with mayo , tomato, lettuce pickles. Fries don't come with it but can be ordered separately. The wife had a BLT which she enjoyed. I only order one burger from here as first time got 2 and couldn't make a dent into the second one. Prices are decent and dining area is filled with memorabilia and a Betty Boop. They also do car side. Car hop makes a come back !. They have a a lot on the menu to choose from. Worth a try if in the Manchester area . Best grill cheese burger I ever had. At first it looked super skeptical because it was giving like 1940's Jim Crow vibes. Like the black people should go around back to get their food. I didn't go in - I sent my fiancé in. Plus I was half sleep. Unfortunately there are places that do exist where they aren't inviting of brown skin. He said it was "historic" in there . So yeah... A local diner with a sonic like drive up option too. Be warned that it's cash only and doesn't accept credit cards. The workers here have the southern hospitality and you can tell it's homemade food at reasonable prices. Very nice lunch spot after hiking at Old Stone Fort Archaeological Park. I don't know if it's nostalgia but the tater tots were my favorite part of my meal. My double burger with everything was well cooked and well built but I needed more seasoning in the beef patties. Absolutely loved this place. The food was great and they had a good selection of different things on their menu for it being an old diner type of place. They only take cash but they have an ATM inside their restaurant so that's not an excuse for anyone! I got the double bacon cheeseburger with the batter dipped fries. It was all great! Toy vehicles on the shelves, little league pictures on the wall and old signs all help give Jiffy's a nostalgic feel. Sometimes it will be crowded and a small wait might be in order. I got lucky and found a table that had just vacated when I arrived. The #1 Burger is 12oz (uncooked weight) and was still a slab on a large bun when it was done. The bacon was crispy and there was plenty of it. I got the Bacon Burger along with a small order of crispy tater tots and it was more than enough. Keep the napkin dispenser close at hand; you will need it because the burger is a mess. I cut mine in half to get a handle on it as I didn't want to lose it onto my lap. Frequent visits from the waitress kept my drink full. I will definitely return as there are other items I saw that looked tasty. Don't forget that this is a cash-only establishment. read more
