Gentlemen came out who was not a tech, took the temp of the air coming out of vents, looked at the compressor clutch then depressed the schrader valve on the system to see if there was refrigerant. I didn't expect them to do much for free but thought they would at least put it on a gauge to check pressure. Total waste of time as I already knew my ac wasn't working. Next step would be a $400 drain and recharge.

I ended up paying a little over $1200 for the diagnosis which also included a charge of $250 for spark plugs, $250 for radiator coolant flush and $250 for brake fluid flush. The technicians diagnosed the problem as a knock and I needed to replace the engine but with nothing to back up their diagnosis. I went to another shop and got the same diagnosis, again, with the same diagnosis and nothing to back up or guide me to the problem. Finally, I called Angel Car Medic (via Yelp) and got a very detailed diagnostic report including cylinder pressures. They pulled the spark plugs and showed me how bad they were - even after just being replaced. Long story short, the diagnosis Christian Brothers provided was correct but they charged way too much for the other services. I was so stupid to select them for this!

Absolutely terrible experience with Brake Check -- avoid at all costs…read more I brought my truck in for a simple alignment after installing new tires. It still pulled slightly to the right, so I returned and was told to "drive it more and then bring it back." No big deal. When I took it to another Brake Check location closer to my daughter's school for a quick fine-tune, things went downhill fast. The tech spent an hour and a half on my truck, only to eventually tell me they didn't know how to get it aligned. When I got my truck back, it was noticeably worse than before: a loud clunking sound, a hard pull to the right, and my front tire was rubbing the fender badly, something it had never done unless at full lock. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I took it back to the original location hoping they could at least return it to the baseline they had set. They worked on it for maybe 10 minutes and handed it back still in terrible condition. At that point I had no choice but to take it to a reputable shop--NXT Up Offroad & Performance--who thankfully fixed everything. They immediately found a loose bolt causing the clunking sound. Yes, Brake Check literally sent me on the road with suspension components not tightened. They also confirmed the alignment was so far out of spec that it would've ruined my $1,900 tires prematurely. I contacted Brake Check asking them to reimburse the cost of repairing their negligence. Even with clear evidence, their Vice President refused and gave me a bizarre analogy about buying a taco at one restaurant, not liking it, and then asking another restaurant to replace it. Not only is that analogy terrible, it completely ignores the fact that Brake Check's work was unsafe and caused additional damage. Bottom line: I wouldn't recommend Brake Check to my worst enemy. They do sloppy, careless work, don't take responsibility for their mistakes, and their negligence could cost you thousands--or worse, cause an accident. Save yourself the headache and take your vehicle somewhere reputable.

The building itself isn't rundown, but by no means is the building brand new. I expect a mechanic shop to have grit to showcase they actually work and they don't mind getting dirty. I forget, every year, to do my yearly inspection. Surely enough, looking at the blue sticker in my window showcases my forgetfulness. There are a multitude of places in Houston metropolitan area that does this inspection, but I wanted close to home and in & out service. I called these guys and they informed me they had an open slot. I show up and was nicely greeted and was asked if I was the one that called. They took all necessary information and got my vehicle right in and out. I can only gauge them based off the service I needed and the quality of service I was given. If any other work is needed and I utilize them, I'll adjust my rating accordingly.

Rico is the primary maintenance technician that I've come in contact with. The first time I visited, he got me in and it took only 5 minutes to get the oil changed. I've been to other locations and I'm there for 45 minutes or more. Rico never over tops the oil and only puts in the correct amount. Yes, the price is quite expensive, but you don't want cheap going into your car because you might be without a car. In this day and age, it's best that you have a car. I feel like I get my money's worth. I've gotten my cabin filter and more coolant changed here. I know I could get it elsewhere cheaper, but I will not remember to do that once I leave even though I would always tell myself that I am. Rico, he is the man that you can trust.
