I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Chuck Toben. I just wish every vet treated my dog the way…read morehe does. My dog is geriatric, medically complex, previously abused and used to hate but is now just pretty avoidant of most men. Within the first couple of visits my dog leaned on Dr. Toben's legs while my dog was feeling weak....I was absolutely floored. Dr. Toben has gone out of his way to help my dog, last minute, over the phone, with appointments, and has been just so insightful and helpful in a way so many other vets cannot do. Most primary care vets get super overwhelmed w/ my dog's health problems, as a lot of my dog's health issues have unknown causes. I went to see many primary care docs in the valley who I really could not trust w/ my dog, or tolerate myself (over 5). Dr. Toben has never even once snapped at me or my dog, gotten overwhelmed (in a way that was even remotely perceivable anyway), has never tried to nickle & dime me, and most importantly, has never given up on my dog. I just cannot place a value on Chuck's honest approach to animal care and kindness towards my dog and me. Chuck will keep trying, trying different things, is always open to suggestions, knows when to sort of make firmer recommendations and take control and when to give space for feedback. He's crazy smart, he knows about so many of my dog's issues in a way that usually only internal med docs seem to be able to discuss, and he is consistently genuinely compassionate and humane. Dr. Toben is just basically a freaking giant brained angel. My only regret is that I'm not loaded so I can't make a massive donation to this clinic. This is exactly what I think all vets should be like, I of course have been really very picky and have a dog w/ a very difficult medical status, and I definitely 1,000% recommend him. Chuck is the first doc I've strongly recommended, by the way, after seeing 2 primaries in MO, 5 specialists in MO, 2 docs in Mexico, 3 internal med docs in AZ, and more than 5 primary care vets in AZ....again, my dog is a very difficult medical case, and Dr. Toben is absolutely the doc for the hardest cases....and thank God that there are vets out there like Chuck who are so good for our poor beloved pets who were previously abused b/c these animals are so sorely in need of kindness and quality care. I'm eternally grateful for this clinic and Dr. Toben.

I have consistently had positive experiences with Apollo Animal Hospital, which is why this recent…read morevisit was so disappointing. I came in after my cat had passed away at home. The staff was already aware that my cat's condition had deteriorated the previous day and that I would likely need to bring him in. Unfortunately, he passed away after the hospital had closed, so I had no choice but to keep him with me until the following morning. Upon arriving, I was asked to wait in the lobby with my deceased cat. In the past, I had always been taken directly to a private room during sensitive situations, so I was surprised and saddened that this was not done. Instead, I was asked to complete cremation paperwork and pay for the services in the waiting room, in full view of other clients. During my previous experience with cremation services, payment was not collected until my pet's ashes were returned, so I was unprepared to handle that financial transaction while grieving. The entire experience felt insensitive and lacking in compassion during an already heartbreaking time. Having such personal and emotional matters handled publicly made an incredibly difficult situation even more painful. This was the first negative experience I have had with Apollo Animal Hospital, which makes it especially unfortunate. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future clients experiencing the loss of a beloved pet are treated with the privacy, empathy, and consideration they deserve.

My dog came in after being bitten and was having a serious allergic reaction with hives. We had already given him Benadryl before arriving. The staff told us they were going to administer a steroid injection, which we agreed to and believed had been done. Later, we found out that no steroid was given at all. Instead, they gave my dog another shot of Benadryl--something he had already received--while acting as if it was the steroid they said he needed. Because his condition didn't improve, we had to rush him to another clinic, where he was immediately given the steroid shot that actually helped him. Beyond the medical issue, the staff was rude, dismissive, and lacked compassion. They acted as though they cared about my pet, but their actions proved otherwise. This felt careless and misleading, and it put my dog at risk. Now I'm stuck disputing the charge with my bank for services that were either misrepresented or not properly provided. Please think twice before bringing your pet here. When it comes to your animal's health and safety, honesty and proper care matter--and that was not my experience at this clinic.

I utterly despise 43rd Ave Animal Hospital. While the vet techs are polite and kind, the doctors…read moreare nothing short of ruthless predators. They wear sweet smiles as a mask to manipulate and guilt you into accepting exorbitant, overpriced procedures. My chihuahua had a large tumor that needed removal, and they slapped me with a $10,000 price tag--an amount completely out of reach. Not only did they fail to offer any reasonable or affordable alternatives, they pressured me to take financing at an outrageous 26% interest rate. It was clear from the start that neither my pet's well-being nor my financial reality mattered to them. In the end, they pushed me into buying end-of-life medications, essentially selling me a slow, painful goodbye disguised as "peace." It's a cruel business disguised as care. Thanks to a friend's referral, I found a surgical vet who removed the tumor for $1,100--and now my dog is healthier and happier than ever. 43rd Ave Animal Hospital may have a polished façade, but it's infested with doctors who are more interested in lining their pockets than saving lives. If you're looking for superficial care and don't mind being exploited, maybe they'll work for you. But if you want real compassion and respect for your pet and your wallet, run far, far away.

The first time we got a same day appointment & this time it was 2 days out. That's pretty quick for a non-emergency issue. They are super fast and punctual when you get there too. Both times we were immediately taken into a room, talked to the vet tech, and the doctor came in 10 minutes later. The front office is really efficient from what I can tell. For our same day appointment, they had already gotten records from our prior vet. This time they did it while we were still there, so we were able to go home with at least one of our med refills. Exam prices are reasonable. If you happen to be a Midwestern student, there's a discount. They also do $25 credit for you and anyone you refer so that was cool. Both Dylan and the blonde/pink-haired tech we had today were super nice. My one dog was shaking and terrified, and Dylan spent several minutes just sitting on the floor getting him to relax. He was even able to trim his nails, which nobody has been able to do. Dr Balu is SO SWEET. Oh my gosh. She also sits on the floor and loves on them. She does really thorough exams and actually feels all over your pet. Our prior vets have been really nice but they really didn't do much of an exam beyond your direct complaint & a quick stethoscope listen. She's very patient and answers all your little concerns. 10/10, while we don't hope to need the vet, this is where we plan to go :)
