So, felt like a short drive. My posse (most of them today, some were MIA)...drove up to Ojai and whoa!-Music Festival and Pottery Festival going on. Traffic all around but we did get out and walk around. Someone said, "I'm hungry, anyone else?"...Of course they were obliged by ALLLL of us! We decided to walk a few blocks from the crowds, came upon Jim & Rob's Fresh Grill + the cantina. We went in and ordered. The service was very good and a few of us saved a large booth as the others went next door to the cantina...there was a good number of folks in there already eating...some locals, you can just tell-made me feel better. Our food arrived: Smash burger I had ordered was great. The pickles as someone else mentioned were a very tasty yet the meat flavor was still there. A chicken burger, some tacos, and some buffalo wings, fries..Cold beer(it was a warm afternoon)-rounded off the 'posse' order. Everything was very good. Jim & Rob's serves some very tasty food. Nothing pretentious, just down right good food. I will stop back in next time I am in Ojai-good food. read more

We went there for lunch on Sunday. While it was busy, we were able to find a nice table outside. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The staff was very friendly and professional. The place was comfortable bd had a cool vibe. There is a bar connected to it where you can get drinks. The food was brought out very quickly. We ordered a Carnitas burrito and a Taco salad with shredded chicken. The homemade iced tea was fantastic. The burrito was large, but the carnitas and beans lacked flavor. Luckily the salsa bar had a nice green salsa that helped spice it up. The taco salad was fantastic. The chicken was very flavorful and plentiful. I gave them an extra star because of the salad. Upon walking in the place is small intimate it does have a second half that actually is a bar. The pricing of the food is actually very reasonable, the place is very clean and the service is excellent, overall highly recommend eating at this place as you won't regret it. read more

I'm an Ojai local so you know I hate to leave a negative Jim and Robs review but recently it's been falling off. The kitchen and FOH both messed up my tonight and recently at least one or the other has been happening. My black bean no pico de gallo tostada was swapped with a veggie, pinto bean one with pico. My boyfriend's burrito had a toothpick in it too, he's not from here so I hate to see yall representing yourselves like that. I simply have to switch my restaurant choice guys. What a delightful place! The staff was friendly and welcoming, after a hike my daughter and I were famished and craving yummy food. This is a nice little gem we found during a weekend getaway. I had never been to Ojai before. What a treat! We stopped in here to get some grub and I loved the vibe. It was cozy and charming. This place was poppin' when we arrived! There were lots of people inside enjoying their massive burritos and lots more coming in to get their hands on some. It's an order-at-the-counter style place and not a lot of room for a line to form. It's a bit crowded because the building is split into the cantina next door and Jim & Robs. But everything is very clean and the history on the walls is really fun to read while waiting for your food. And I love the split building idea too. It's fun to be able to grab and drink and a meal. The employee we ordered from was not so festive, but the employee who brought our food out was such a pleasure. So lively and spirited. Our food came out in about 15 minutes. I ordered the Alota tostada because it's not easy to find the large tortilla bowls anymore! That makes this place a winner in my book. They put a big ol' glob of sour cream and guacamole on top which I'm all about. I was actually most enjoyed the pico de gallo in it. Super fresh and was a great lightening note. I did notice that the ingredients are all very "simple". They don't do a lot to spice things up which I like and so does my tummy. Just like the toasted I make at home, except for the tortilla bowl :). Unfortunately I had a lettuce butt in my salad. Overall, a great tostada. No special flavors but pleasing. Oh, and I got the pork on the side and they give a great portion! My husband ordered the chimichanga, per my recommendation, and it lived up to its pictures and reviews. It had a great crunch on the outside and was jam packed with all the goods. Again it had giant globs of sour cream and guacamole. My father-in-law ordered a wet burrito and devoured it all. Very good. Similarly, my mother-in-law got her favorite: the chicken tortilla soup. She knows a good soup when she has one and this was it! They give a great portion too. Downside that you have to order chips if you want them. And the salsa at the salsa bar was watery. It's in a good location; has parking in the back; and a nice outside patio. I would definitely come back. They have a great menu with lots of options and their food tastes simple and clean which is my style. read more

This unassuming little restaurant at the end of the main strip may look like the equivalent of a Baja Fresh, but it's much, much better. Service is quick and to the point. There is no dilly dallying here. My husband enjoyed his asada tacos. My daughter was pleasantly surprised at the massive size of her child's bean and cheese burrito. I've eaten at J&R's many times & always enjoyed it. Today it was raining. As I entered the hallway to use the restroom I slipped on the wet floor and fell. 3 very nice guys came to make sure I was ok. The lady working there (manager?) came to look & without asking if I was hurt told me it was my fault because I had brought in water on my shoes. She then left me to get help from the 3 guys. Yikes! I would normally beware of a place that was voted both best burger and burrito, but this place really surprised me. The burritos are beyond huge, so we decided to share and it was really fresh and tasty. The side of guac was generous and very fresh too. Wish the chips were warm but they said they were homemade and I'll believe them. The menu is vast and I would try a burger next time. Nice little bar next door that offers the same menu but via waitress service. This feels like a locals only place and it might be missed otherwise, but it was a solid choice. read more
