First visit here. We chose to sit outside on the patio to enjoy the fresh ocean air. The beach is about 500-600 feet from the entrance. We came at the brunch hour so we ordered off their brunch menu. I got the Breakfast sandwich and my friend got a breakfast burger. We opted for just water today. My breakfast sandwich was as you imagined an egg sandwich to be. Cooked egg, 2 slices of bacon with aioli sauce on a toasted brioche bun. I got a side of hash-browns instead of fries. I would have preferred my hash browns to have a bit of a crisper crust but they were bad. My friend substituted sweet potato fries for the regular fries. The service was pretty good. Our waitress did check on us once our food arrived but didn't bother to refill our waters at all during our meal. I loved the low key vibe of the place. At least the patio seating. Just as we were about to leave there was a large party coming in which was a reserved table because we saw "reserved signs on it" and I heard the waitress asked how many dogs were there and the said 3. So I guess it's a pretty dog friendly patio which is a plus for dog owners. read more

I don't usually review "meh" experiences, but the inconsistency here was too much to ignore. I came in expecting a solid meal, but the execution was underwhelming. The chips and salsa were served refrigerated with the salsa tasting more like unsalted tomato sauce than anything fresh. The sausage was pale and greasy rather than charred, and the omelette was dry and missing toast. On the bright side, the pancakes were actually quite good, though the single strawberry and tiny portions of butter and syrup meant I had to keep flagging down service for more. The biggest letdown was the coffee--watery and lukewarm. Ugh Service was pleasant, but the kitchen needs to step up the quality control to match the atmosphere. read more

Overall a very mediocre to disappointing experience. I hate giving poor reviews (as evidenced by my review history) but there were just too many issues to not warning others. Service wasn't bad but definitely not good. Drinks were unimpressive. For a place with "tap" in the name, they should have a better beer selection. My Ventura County's "best Bloody Mary" was meh- kinda watery. The food was not great but mostly tolerable. The Brussels sprouts were overly charred and sent back, the fish in the fish tacos and fish and chips was terrible (my husband and sister basically ate them just to prevent bringing down the mood by sending back more food). Positives were the buffalo cauliflower and the back patio seating that had space heaters. Maybe it was just an off night, but it felt like Social Tap is relying on its location to bring in customers. Nice sports bar in Ventura with many tvs to watch the game. Our servers were very nice however it was extremely slow to get our drinks. They were super busy which is understandable but also they should prepare for crowded game days. Food was good. Nachos were just okay in our opinion. It's incredibly disappointing to see how much The Social Tap has gone downhill. We used to be regulars, dining there two or three times a month, but we gradually stopped coming because the food and service became so inconsistent. We decided to give Happy Hour a try last night, and it only confirmed our concerns. My usual order--the double patty Royale--arrived lukewarm with noticeably shrunken patties overwhelmed by a massive bun. The normally generous side of fries was so small I could have quickly counted them. My wife's salmon fared no better, served on a bed of cold rice. To make matters worse, our server was friendly at first but then completely disappeared. She never checked on our meal, and we had to flag down a different server just to get assistance. Finally, to top it off, they tacked on a $2.00+ credit card surcharge to the bill. I know it's probably in the fine print, but it still feels like a frustrating nickel-and-dime tactic. Great location in Pierpoint with plenty of seating. They have a lovely patio with heaters and plenty of room for dogs. Lots of big screen TVs showing sporting events make this a great place to hang out. The servers are very nice and accommodating. The food is a mixture of really good to so so. My clam chowder was amazing and my shrimp taco was delicious. My friends seafood burrito was also delicious. Unfortunately my friend who had the chicken fingers and my other friend who had the fisf and chips said they were both a little dry and not as good as they used to be so I am giving 4 stars. I came here to watch the World Series. There are many TVs, which is an excellent place to watch the game! Lavender Lemondrop (but I ordered a mocktail). It was delicious. It tasted like lavender lemonade, and some lavenders were in the drink, adding more lavender flavor. The service was excellent, and the servers were friendly. I had a table outside. They only had a few heaters, but that was okay because I had my blanket. Parking is in front of the bar but limited. I parked my car on the street. It's close to the beach, so during the day, you may want to take a walk on the beach before or after lunch. read more

We came here visiting the area from Massachusetts. We figured we'd give this place a try because it looked like a nice place to grab dinner and drinks and it had an outdoor patio. The food wasn't great. The toppings on the nachos tasted similar to ingredients you'd buy in the canned food aisle at the grocery store. My girlfriend liked the sweet potato fries but felt as though her grilled fish sandwich could have been better quality for what we were charged for it. Drinks were good. Service was good. If you enjoy bad food, this is the place for you. Last night, I ordered a grilled fish taco and a carnitas taco. I eventually found some bits of fish in the wet, tasteless fish taco. There was nothing "carnitas" about my carnitas taco: I'm sure that the pork came from the same pot as their pulled pork and half of the tasteless serving of "meat" consisted of a 1/4 cup-sized glob of disgusting fat. The food was so good here! We ordered the pretzels with cheese dip & mustard as the appetizer and the pretzels were so buttery and fresh! The cheese dip was packed with flavor and has a good queso taste. For the main, I ordered the double royale with cheese, onion rings, and ranch. Everything was delicious and the ranch is house made so it's the good ranch! Also went during their taco Tuesday promo and tried the house margarita with the Tajín rim. I'm a margarita enthusiast and I will say this was a well made drink! Would definitely come back. They have a few other items on their menu I am curious to try. Even the fries were terrible. How do you mess up fries? The bar tender could not have cared less about us. No interaction what so ever once we got our food. The pretzel bites with whatever that cheese sauce was, wow. It tasted like a watered down cheap pasta sauce. Then our bill, for 2 lunch items and 3 drinks was $103. GTFO. My husband and I were drawn to Social Tap because of all the TVs. If you're a sports fanatic, this is a great place to gather. They have a variety of good food, a good bar, and a relaxed atmosphere. For food we ordered the gordita burrito and it was a sizable portion. Pretty tasty and the barbacoa meat was well seasoned and tender. We also ordered the ahi tacos and these were really good. Great quality fish and it had a great sear on it. Special shoutout to their garlic fries, I'd say some of the best in Ventura County! The service, however, was really subpar. The restaurant was decently filled, but the service was painfully slow. Slow as in waiting for 15 minutes just to get a water after being seated. Not only was the service slow the server also forgot part of our order and we had to ask another server to help us. Not only was the service slow, it seemed like the kitchen was slow too, since it took an absurdly long while to get our food. I will say overall the staff was friendly though. While service usually wouldn't knock off a full star for me, unfortunately seeing what another table experienced did. I don't typically write reviews for other customers, but when we were seated we overheard a couple asking about an order they had been waiting on. After a good 20 minutes, they had asked again. We received our food and then saw that they finally received theirs. When they did get their food (which wasn't a complicated order, just a couple of burgers) they had onions on it when they asked for no onions, they didn't complain and just scraped it off. At the end of the meal, they asked the server if they could mention it to the kitchen just for improvement and the server said "sure" in a short manner and kind of brushed it off. My grands and I ate a takeout order from Social Tap last Sunday. We ordered to go cause we were wet and sandy. We ordered the kids grilled cheese sandwich, shrimp and chips, and the kids chicken strips. The grilled cheese sandwich had been grilled with seasoning which didn't go very well with the sandwich. The chicken strips were pretty good. But.......the fried shrimp was not fit to be served out of the kitchen. The cook or chef should have been so embarrassed to send out burnt crispy fried shrimp. The shrimp was tough. The servers didn't seem to care if we were there, what our food looked like or if the food was edible. We stay at Inn on the beach about 10-15 times a year.
