Came to Ojai with the family for an adventure day. Setup at Libbey Park and walked over. Got there midday on a Monday. They were sold out of a lot of items already. Burrito was great. I loved that it had crunchy lettuce/slaw in it. That added flavor and texture that you don't always get in a burrito. Burrito is decently big, could have shared with my toddler. Will be back again!

Stopped off at the Ojai tortilla House for the first time ever. Their hours are 11am to 2pm everyday so it's always been outside of my window but today after a quick farmers market trip I was able to stop by. The line before opening caught me off guard so I immediately had high hopes for something earth shattering. It's a small space that can fit maybe 5-6 people so depending on how many people you have with you it could just fit one group. The menu is straight forward and simple. One thing I've know was that they hand make all of their tortillas so I was pumped for that. I got the chicken burrito with everything, mild sauce and no cheese. It was a hefty burrito for $12 so well worth the value. The burrito though was lacking some flavor. The chicken had a nice Smokey flavor but it just seemed to miss the wow factor. The onion and cilantro was even super mild in flavor and didn't pack that aromatic punch you'd expect. The tortilla definitely kept this score at a 3.5 for me if it was store bought it would be a mid two burrito. I'll give it another shot with a different protein choice and ask for salsa on the side as well to add more to each bite for the next go.

Got the steak burrito. The meat was so flavorful and cooked well, which I love. The refried beans and rice were just ok, a little bland, but the other fillings were fresh. The price is great! $11 for a good size burrito these days is pretty rare. The drawbacks: The employees could've been a tad more friendly, and it's cash only.

Try to get there before Noon as they sell out of items. I got there at 11:30am on a Wednesday and there were already sold out of the steak, so I ordered a chicken burrito with salsa. There is not a lot of seasoning added to the meats so be sure to get one of the salsas added to your taco or burrito. The other parts of the burrito that did not have salsa tasted pretty bland. Cash only, no paper receipts, to-go only. There's a public park nearby with table benches to eat.

Just off of Ojai Ave on N. Signal St, there's a little hole in the wall taco place. I'm here driving a charter bus and had a few hours to wait, saw that shop and decided to give it a try for dinner, just because it was super close to where I parked. Frankly, I thought it was probably just another taco place and wasn't expecting much... but BOY was I wrong! One pork and one chicken soft taco and they both knocked my socks off. I'm not even a chicken taco fan, but that one was mind blowing good! The owner whose name I won't even attempt to spell because I would just butcher it, was very kind. He only takes cash, but I didn't notice the sign. I was a dollar short and he took care of me anyway. Trust me though, his tacos are worth more than he charges and worth every penny! Definitely give him a try! You won't be sorry! TWO HUMBS UP!

This place always has a line out the door during the few hours they are open. And we heard many customers had come from LA and other areas to make the stop at their "favorite burrito/quesadilla" stop. They are quick to move the line along so don't worry about the wait. They keep the little hole in the wall clean and you can see the tortillas being rolled out and made fresh right behind the counter. It's a small but effective operation they run. All the food is simple and authentic. The rice stood out to me as most authentic feeling along with the tortilla. We each got a different item. I got the chicken burrito and we also got a steak burrito. It wasn't "knock your socks off" flavorful or really anything special, it just tasted very fresh and left my tummy feeling very clean with the cabbage contents. It's also nice that they don't overload it with rice and beans and cheese like a lot of other places do. It had a perfect combo of the components. That's the best part about the meal is the clean feeling. Other than that, nothing special besides the small town good people vibe of this little food spot. We also got a steak quesadilla. The difference between the burrito and quesadilla is the quesadilla gets cooked and cheese melted and does not have rice and beans in it. So I'd opt for a burrito so you can get more goodies! But then again, people love those quesadillas on the fresh tortillas. The burrito bowl gets the same amount of ingredients as the burrito minus the home made tortillas, which I'd say is part of the star combo, so maybe save this one for last. The watermelon agua Fresca is delicious and refreshing!

CASH ONLY, TO-GO ONLY, quick service, long lines, delicious tacos, great prices. Arrive at opening at 11a to avoid waiting in line. We enjoyed the steak, chicken & al pastor tacos. We ate our food at Libby Park across the street, there's plenty of picnic benches.

And everything we've ever ordered has been delicious. Last night I got a carne asada burrito and was hesitant. I feel like at a lot of Mexican restaurants it's overly stuffed with beans and some unseasoned meat. Not here! A large portion of carne asada was in the burrito and it was seasoned so well! Enter Agave Maria's Restaurant. First of all, I have no idea why this place doesn't have higher reviews. Maybe people came on a full moon in retrograde or something, because our experience was five stars all the way. We got seated immediately, and before I could even say "where's the salsa," chips and salsa magically appeared on the table. Instant happiness. Of course, margaritas were required (weekend getaway rules). They came out fast, tasted amazing, and didn't knock us on the floor. This has perfect balance enough tequila to make you smile, not enough to make you start texting your ex. For food: I went with the beef enchiladas and cheese tamale with rice. Holy moly. The beef was shredded so tender it basically fell onto the fork by itself. You can tell it was cooked slow and with love. My husband got the street tacos , it had corn tortillas, cilantro, onions, rice and beans on the side. He didn't talk to me for five minutes straight, which is the international sign of this food is too good to pause for conversation. Service was super fast and staff were super attentive. Food came out quicker than expected. Prices are a bit higher. Remember, when you're on a weekend getaway, calories and budgets don't count. Bottom line: If you're in Ojai and want Mexican food that makes your tastebuds sing, come here. Order a margarita, enjoy the vibe, and you can thank me later for this recommendation

I am definitely surprised by the lower reviews as our experience on a Sunday evening was pretty stellar and hopefully the reviews continue to be more positive if the restaurant and staff are making adjustments to the feedback. We stumbled in on a Sunday evening after wine tasting. We truthfully wanted round two of drinks and a clean bathroom lol. I had heard about this spot in the past and their curb appeal drew us in. Love their signage, the name/logo on the front wall, and once we walked in the bar seemed very cute and inviting. Probably what would have been an initial red flag was that it was dead inside but we just wanted to sit and enjoy a cocktail. The outdoor patio seemed cute and did have like three tables full. We looked over the menu and were actually very impressed. They have an extensive cocktail menu with fun looking drinks and ingredients. The food menu looked pretty appetizing to me if I'm being honest. Based off of the menu alone I'd come back. Happy hour during her weekdays seems legit too. My group only ordered cocktails but the drinks were pretty and a generous pour! Three of us ordered the prickly pear margaritas and we loved the tall glass they came in. We really loved how the female bartender whipped our drinks up super quickly. My other friend got a Smokey cocktail and we all agreed we really liked our drinks. Had we not already been drinking all afternoon I would have definitely ordered another cocktail. The staff were actually very nice and sweet (going against other reviews). The bartender again was really quick with the drinks and made them very tasty. The waitress who checked up on us was darling. Me and my girlfriends were deep in conversation and I appreciated how she would check in on us but also was mindful to not seem interruptive. She also gave us recommendations on what food is popular and to order next time. While I only experienced the bar area I was very pleased with our visit. Drinks were good, the decor cute, and nice staff. Hoping more people will give them a try as we really liked this spot. Clean single bathroom too in the back which was helpful as we all needed a pit stop and refresh. Definitely keeping this spot in mind next time I'm in Ojai and needing a margarita.
