Imagine walking in to your kitchen and finding this instead. It's the kind of thing you'd think a contractor might warn you about first...

We had a horrendous experience with Jim Black Construction. JBC subcontracts every piece of the project, and there is little communication between teams, so repairs were delayed for days, weeks, then even more weeks, while we were effectively left homeless. The initial estimate had to be followed up by a new estimate 10 days later, at which time Greg promised us we would have a project timeline at the end of 5 more days. When we inquired 5 days later about the timeline, Greg threatened to delay the project further if we were going to "keep being like this." Meanwhile, a subcontractor might come to the job site for an hour or two, then the house would sit idle for a few days, then a completely different team would come for an hour, and then nothing would happen for another week. 21 days after the first estimate, JBC had to draw up a new estimate (which involved gutting the entire apartment rather than just fixing the floor) because they suddenly "found mold behind the shower." It is worth noting that the reason they were called in the first place was because a pipe burst 2 feet away from the shower. Looking for mold behind the shower should have literally been the first thing they did. But the main reason I wish I could give negative stars on this review was because of what they did to the kitchen... From the very first visit, we asked them if we should pack up the entire house, or just move items to a different room (or just off the ground - after all, they were supposed to just be repairing a small section of floor). We were told we could leave things in the kitchen, since the cabinets and counters wouldn't be affected. So, with no other safe place to store our valuables, I moved all of our wedding gifts, artwork and fragile items into the kitchen cabinets for safe-keeping. One day, I returned to the house to pick up more rice and coffee filters, and the kitchen was completely GONE. Appliances, counters, cabinets and all of our belongings inside them had been removed, with no warning, and without our permission or consent. I was horrified to find our possessions carelessly thrown into a back room, with fragile glasses, houseplants and paintings crushed under heavy tools and leaking bottles of cooking oil. What kind of monsters would do something like that??

What was once an uncomfortable, underutilized area is now a beautiful basement with a dedicated office, a workout space, and a much better-sized, well-organized utility room. In addition, they replaced all of our carpet with hardwood floors throughout the main level, and the results are amazing. The craftsmanship and finish quality exceeded our expectations -- the house feels completely elevated and refreshed. Noam was exceptional throughout the entire process. He worked closely with me on the overall design, offered smart and practical solutions, and truly understood what we were trying to accomplish. He came by daily to make sure every detail was executed correctly and was always attentive, responsive, and proactive. His hands-on approach gave us a lot of confidence that the project would turn out right -- and it absolutely did. I can't say enough good things about Noam and the A2Z team. If you're looking for a contractor who is thoughtful, detail-oriented, and genuinely cares about the final result with a great value, I highly recommend them.

We first hired him back when he was known as "Steve Beam Handyman," and it's been amazing to see him grow and expand his services with the launch of Denver Remodels Inc. Over the years, Steve and his team have tackled everything from small repairs (like anchoring heavy drapery hardware into our finicky plaster walls) to major renovations (like restoring the exterior of our 1908 Craftsman). One of our favorite projects was transforming our mudroom by removing a wall and building a custom breakfast nook. This was a complex project, but Steve's expertise and creativity shone through. He even suggested a design element in the booth walls that perfectly complemented the Craftsman lines of our home - it's those little details that make a huge difference. What we think truly sets Steve apart is his incredible craftsmanship, creativity, and his consultative approach. He takes the time to truly understand your vision and offers expert guidance throughout the design process. Whether you're tackling a small project or a major renovation, Steve's deep knowledge and experience are on display with every project he does. He's always there to answer questions, offer suggestions, and steer you in the right direction, ensuring that the final result is even better than you imagined. His team is equally fantastic - professional, efficient, and incredibly skilled. If you're looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and truly exceptional remodeling experience in Denver, look no further than Steve Beam and Denver Remodels Inc. They're a standout and I'm so glad we found them.
