Omgosh what happened to this place ! How did they manage to serve is a cold baked potato's ! When We moved to Franklin this was a regular restaurant ! You sat down they took your order they brought your food ! Now you stand in line to order and they give you an electronic device but they don't seem to work & the numbers don't line up they brought 2 orders out that were not ours and couldn't figure it out whose was whose ! Not sure what happened, but both the service and quality of food have gone downhill since our last visit. Everything was just off today. Maybe because was Sunday and not crowded, but really didn't seem they had their A team. Potions were smaller, cole slaw was off, fries were cold and the beef brisket didn't have much taste. Service wasn't great - despite promising to keep or bread basket full, never refilled. And speaking of which, had to remind on our drinks. Ugh! Not good. We were staying in the area visiting friends who live here, and actually drove 20 mins especially to get to this place because they fam was raving about it. So, expectations were pretty high. First fatal error. I ordered the half baby back ribs thinking these would be tender succulent and juicy. they weren't they were dry and gristly and so bad. Sides were OK but completely not memorable. The service was good here and our waitress did amazingly considering we were a large group, bless her. She did forget a tea that I ordered but never showed up, but it was no biggie. But what you go for here should be excellent bbq but this was poor. I have way better at every bbq place I've ever been to in Berkeley and Oakland, CA and those places aren't even known for their bbq. However other diners at our table were very happy and they live in TN, so Jim N Nick must be doing something right, it was just lost on me. Maybe I made a bad menu choice, but ribs are usually a total crowd pleaser, so IDK what went wrong on my visit. Oh, the pies though, are out of this world. Last time giving this chain a try. Went from good down home BBQ to just another chain that will fail do to not paying attention to what matters. Pickup only the day we ordered. Not very busy lately but wanted to support one of old favorites. It sure has gone down hill over the last year or two. Quality of the meal was subpar, and that's being way to polite! Missed the cheddar biscuits from our order and put so much bbq sauce on one of the sandwiches that by the time we got it home it was complete mush. read more

I have enjoyed Jim N Nicks drive thru for several years but am so disappointed with the fast food order set up inside the restaurant. A few of us come in to to enjoy a relaxing FULL Service restaurant experience . We ended up leaving without eating and went to a different place after waiting in line to place an order . I understand staff may be hard to find but in my opinion having guests standing at a counter to place an order and fill their own drinks is a fast food restaurant and should be labeled as a fast food restaurant with the prices to match. This location has changed to ordering as you enter the restaurant. You do not order at the table anymore. You get your own drink. There is no server. Only a food runner. We ran out of napkins and had to get paper towels from the bathroom. Food was good as usual but the service was non-existent. No server. No station to get sauce or napkins. Not sure why they asked for a tip. And it was requested before we even got the no-service. Felt like Burger King. Unimpressed. 4 stars for the food. 1 star for the rest. read more

Jim 'N Nick's has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I have always enjoyed the service, the atmosphere and to top it off EXCELLENT food. This was my 1st time to visit this Franklin location since it changed the dine in experience. It's mid at best!!! You feel rushed to place an order at the counter when you walk in, which feels less than welcoming. Our total was still over $60 for 2 people...next you fill your own drink and pick a table. On the plus side of things your food is brought out quickly. We asked the guy who brought out the food if there was any habanero sauce or salt and pepper. He said, "Yeah we have that!".... Ummm ok He was gone before we could ask where or do we get that ourselves. You get your own refills... I had to wait until very 10 minutes to see the next employee to ask where I could get a to go box. Summary was subpar food. Meats were all over cooked. I stopped by after work one day to try out their Nashville hot chicken. I know, hot chicken from a chain? Well I'd read a little article in the Nashville Scene where they did a blind taste test & this place came up number one, with Boltons coming in a close second. I went the drive thru around 5:30pm & ordered the number 3 drive thru combo, the chicken tenders (3 in an order) with Nashville hot chicken seasoning, macaroni & cheese as a side & a drink. The person in front of me must've ordered a massive meal because it took about ten minutes for them to get through the drive thru. My meal was $9, so right under ten bucks with tax. I was surprised with how large the soft drink that came with the meal. The tenders were average size. Same goes for the macaroni & cheese. I might liked it a little better if there were 4 tenders, but I'm a fatty sometimes. The Nashville hot chicken was hot, but not were it burned my mouth. It's been a while since I've had the Nashville hot chicken staples, so I need to them again, but I didn't find the chicken too hot at all. I got blue cheese to dip & thought it tasted kind of oniony. The macaroni & cheese were delicious, almost like it had ricotta in it too. I could eat a whole bowl of that stuff. I liked the meal I had, I'd have it again, but it's not something I'll be craving to get again next week or anything. read more

We've only eaten here twice but enjoyed the food both times. You get nice size portions and the ribs are big and meaty. Pulled pork tender and moist. Biscuits are cheesy. Its family friendly and your not cramped. Bathroom aren't all that clean so it makes you wonder about some of the other areas. But all in all delicious food and good service. I ordered the ribs without reading how it was made and I regret my decision.because it wasn't that good I didn't care for their BBQ sauce either. Their customer service was great the people were nice and I enjoyed eating their sides the beans and mac n cheese. I wish I had made a better decision my order. The restaurant has completely changed up the format. It's not a sit down restaurant with servers, and say goodbye to the unlimited cheese bread muffins. It now operates like an upscale fast food restaurant--at $20-$25 a plate. We used to go twice a month, but don't plan on going back. We have eaten here before and it was great. However now I guess with all the new poor quality of the workforce or the lack there of, things have definitely deteriorated. Okay getting to the point, Restaraunt was only a quarter full and had a 1/2 hour wait... The bar was closed due to the ceiling leaking.. While waiting, decided to go to the restroom.. walked past the kitchen and it was a total mess. The floor was covered with dropped/walked on food. There was trash/ debris and standing water puddles. God help them if the health department decided to make a visit. The hallway floor to the bathroom was filthy. The bathroom was no different. No telling when the last time it was cleaned. It was filthy as well with so much "whatever" caked on top of the metal container. By the way, don't use the urinal because when the door is open people in the restaurant can see you. (That one is just a poor design issue). Anyways, told my wife no way was we eating there and we left. It's sad really, the owner deserves better I think. I guess being from KC and living in Houston for seven years may have something to do with this review. Being around outstanding BBQ most of my life has my palate spoiled. On a day that I had a hankering for good BBQ, wandered into this establishment. I looked at the menu to find the sausage and none on the menu. Seriously? You gonna call yourself a BBQ restaurant and no sausage. I ordered the Turkey and Ribs. The Turkey was good and juicy but didn't really have the smoky flavor I was hoping for. The ribs were embarrassing. No meat and little bark. Just fatty and grissley pork. I paid extra to get the ribs too! I saw a sign walking in that they were advertising a full rack of these so called ribs and two sides for 34 dollars. Good grief man. I'd keep clear if this place. I guess the rating is not so high because this place is crowded and a tad noisy. I want to give you this from a Colorado visitor that knows something about good food since I used to live in the south years ago. The food was absolutely fantastic! I brought my family here and we all had something different. I will say this and listen up management, I understand there is inflation but people feel warm and good with soul comfort food and it's found with this type of food! DONT FORGET THAT! Also, I speak up when a side is 1/2 full and you betcha I'm going to tell you to get back there and fill that sucker up especially for what I'm paying! They also forgot my dozen biscuits too which I had to tell them. Take care of your patrons and they'll continue to take care of you! Deviled eggs, potato salad, and baked beans seem to all share the same sweet seasoning. Potato salad was mashed. Interesting variation. Eggs were good. I'd order those again. Ate there Thursday night 4-23-21. In the last 66 years I have sent a dish back two times. Ordered babyback ribs from Lou (nice guy). They had no rolls at all. When the ribs came they were rock hard and very over cooked. Usually babyback ribs fall off the bone. These were so hard the dinner knife could not cut them. I asked for a steak knife. Struggled to cut them. Informed the waiter who was apologetic. Brought us another order that was just as tough and overcooked. Our dinner companions were already eating their meals so we sat and tried to eat. My companion said to complain to the manager and refuse payment. That's not me. So I paid and left. Jim n Nick looks and feels like a chain. I don't love that. I know for sure that great bbq is found in small hole on the wall places, and roadside trailers where a guy named Bubba is adding wood to huge black smoker all day, has about three things on the menu, and runs out of everything by noon. Not a place with a hostess seating you and 27 TVs. That said, this not bad at all. I would probably go three stars if it wasn't for the cheese biscuits and the Mac n cheese. Oh, the cheese biscuits. Kids only know this as the place with the cheese biscuits. (You can buy the mix and make at home btw) The pork bbq is good, you can definitely find better in the Nashville area, but it's solid. But what do you do if your pork bbq is average but you make a mean Mac n cheese? Put the bbq on the Mac n cheese! Brilliant! Loaded Mac n cheese definitely recommended. Smoked chicken is good. Hard to believe, but last night they were out of pork, beef and chicken. They only had turkey so I ordered a turkey sandwich with potato salad. Was served fried turkey fingers and onion rings.
