This place delivered exactly what i expected when I saw an old sign worn that said "famous burgers" with a tiny counter and few table seats and a cash only sign in the window. A darn good, thick patty burger. Served piping hot , with great caramelized onions and a side of crispy diner style fries. Took a look at the flat top while i sat at the counter , chef was pumping out grilled cheese sandwiches, beacon egg and cheeses , omeletts and everything else you'd expect from a dinner type spot. Menu has everything a dinner should, homemade soups, wings, more sandwiches, pancakes and waffles etc, definitely slept on this place my first year living in the neighborhood. I have a LOVE-HATE relationship with Jimbo's. Sometimes I love it... other times I hate it!!! First, I only get three things from here... bacon cheeseburger deluxe, a grilled chicken gyro platter or a bacon egg and cheese. The bacon cheeseburger always hits the spot... the bacon is always cooked nicely! The french fries with the white sauce and ketchup... A1!! -- That is until you call for take out and they sneak CHEAP french fries, instead of the classic! The grilled chicken gyro tastes nice and clean... Now I know the times have changed but, Went into the jimbos at Dykman since my man in I were hungry and hadn't been there in years. One of my favorite hood spots...Jimbo's. You have to appreciate a classic. Jimbo's is one of those long time diner/burger spots that when you haven't had it in a long while and are just having a regular day in the hood that you appreciate more and hope that it never goes away. If you have never had a Jimbo's burger I suggest you get one...is it the best burger in the world? No. Is it the best restaurant in the world? No. Is there anything spectacular about this place? No...but that is where the appreciation comes in. You don't always have to be the #1 place to get loyal customers. But good service at a neighborhood restaurant with good food is sometimes all it takes which is part of the reason why Jimbo's in NYC has been around as long as they've had. Their burgers are not on the level of an In & Out or Smashburger but it's GOOD! You need good, to appreciate great but you also have had to experience mediocre or bad to appreciate good and this place is good! I will always appreciate Jimbo's because it caters to locals and has what you need right there and then as far as a burger, basic finger foods or your rush of a muffin, bagel or cup of tea or coffee in the morning when you're headed out to school or work. I've been coming to this place since I was in junior high school . Back then it was called wimpys. They seriously have the best chicken sandwich and one of the best cheeseburgers in NYC. The price is low compare to other places. A chicken sandwich and a soda will be six dollars. I recommend the cheese fries and chocolate shake. They have changed Alot, used to be the best place to order breakfast after a long night however now everything is overpriced, tastes like the grill and skimpy. A blt is $7 and it comes with 3 pieces of bacon that taste like a burger because of an uncleaned grill. I've ordered from jimbos since I was a kid, this was back when they use to wrap everything in aluminum, including the fries! They have some amazing burgers! You could never go wrong with a classic cheeseburger deluxe or a pizza burger with a side of fries! Basic burger place- I ordered the milkshake with the grilled chicken salad. The place is actually pretty small and when I went I saw only one person eating there. The milkshake wasn't extremely anything to rave about but I liked that the salad came as a pretty big portion. This place is really cheap, which is one thing I really like about it. It's definitely a cheap, greasy diner. So if you're a vegetarian or even slightly concerned about cholesterol, stay away! (They technically have vegetarian options...but such options are limited, and not good.) I think you really get what you pay for at this place. Stay home and make it yourself-- it'll be a lot yummier, not dripping in quite so much grease, and slightly cheaper. . I ordered two Hereros with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon, two coffees and two oj's to be delivered. When I received my order there was only one sandwich. I called and spoke to the guy that took my order and just said one of the sandwiches were left out of my order. Instead of being apologetic and willing to assist in getting another one delivered The guy was argumentative and told me well it's because I didn't order two, he said I just asked for two scrambled eggs. The burger was incredibly THIN and lacked any flavor the bun was STALE wonderbread .
