Where are all of the regular people who used to be in charge and you would see all the time? I suspect the restaurant has been sold and this new crop of people have come in. I only give it a one star because I can't go less! My wife and I went there to have dinner. The waitress was nice and we ordered one order of fried chicken and a side order for my wife of a side salad and a baked potato. The cost of the fried chicken meal is listed on the menu at $15.99. We ordered water to drink. When we got the meal I gave my wife the breast and I kept the tight, the leg and the wing. The chicken was way over cooked, the side of mixed vegetables was cold, the baked potato was yesterdays as well as the the baked potato my wife got. When we left to pay, the check was $28.67! For a side salad and a baked potato it was $8 or $10? I did leave the waitress a $5 tip because that isn't her fault, it's the management. Won't make the mistake of going there again! read more

This was my first time dining here. Hostess and very polite and sat me at a booth and promptly served my ice tea and menu. The restaurant was spotless. My server Reyna was 5 star! Having been in restaurant management for many years, I am somewhat "critical" when I dine out. This place is down home country cooking. Reyna suggested the beef pasta noodle soup, which was as good as my grandma's. I ordered the chicken friend steak (CFS) with mashed potatoes gravy and steamed veggies and garlic bread. WOW this is delicious!!! The customer service is very good, the restrooms are clean and nice, and the walleye is absolutely yummy!! This is our first time here and although they were very busy the wait time was not bad at all!! I like that the baked potato was brought in foil because it kept the potato very hot. The portions are very generous as well. My husband ordered the soup and he said it is the hottest (temperature) soup he has ever had at a restaurant! - Very good too. Everything about the look of JiMichael's would make you think it would be a pretty decent place for breakfast or lunch. The location is great, the building is well kept, the parking lot is busy. That is, however, where it ends. The greeter had the welcoming warmth of an ice cube. Made us feel as welcome as rain at the beach. The place was fairly busy, not packed, tables open, but service was slow. The food was long getting out of the kitchen, but hey if it was good so what. Except it was just about average, key is just about, as in not quite there. This is your basic diner type lunch spot in a market of many similar options. There are better options starting right around the corner, we'll be going elsewhere next time. They still had a nice location. read more

Jimichael's used to be located in the bowling alley that is now George's Cafe that is on the other side of the hospital. Jimichael's is a free standing budget family restaurant that serves up Greek, Italian, Asian and American dishes. They also serve breakfast and offer a salad bar. From just one visit here I can tell you some of the food is pretty good and some of the food is very marginal. The specialty here is anything fried, especially the fried fish and the selection of pies that include sugar free. I had the fried walleye pike. The fish was pretty good and tasty and a big fat bargain for $8.99 for decent walleye pike. The fish was tender mild and meaty with a tasty seasoned batter that seemed oil free. I had my choice of mashed potatoes or fries so I went with mashed. I can't say for sure but the potatoes tasted like they came from a box and sort of weren't good. The potatoes were very granular. However the cole slaw that came on my platter was fresh tasty and was house made. I added on the salad bar for $2.99. Same as the platter. Some things were good like the fresh salad mix and the broccoli. Some things were not so good. Some things seemed processed. At least two things seemed old. (not counting the other diners dining there) My husband had my soup that seemed house made and was ok. He also had the pork tenderloin sandwich. Customer service is excellent. Food not so much. I ordered the meatloaf. It was bland and cold in the middle of the slice. Ranch dressing might be homemade. It is thick and taste more like mayonnaise. They were able to make substitutions on the sides offered. I wouldn't return though. read more

I was originally very excited about this restaurant. We are always looking for a new brunch spot. They advertised Coconut Shrimp. I was super excited when I had seen it driving by earlier. I came way out of my way after my appts with clients, to check it out. Huge disappointment on service. I'd do 0 stars if I could. I gave 1 star because of Spring the hostess, who tried her best. First time in. Seated quickly, but seated at a dirty table. Short staffed cafe. 1 server for the entire room. So overwhelmed by the number of tables at 2:45pm she took it out on me. Took the server a long time to get to me for even initial drink order. (Over 10 mins). Hostess noticed my dirty table, and offered to get me a drink and quickly cleared my table. I saw the server gabbing with a customer. Wouldn't have cared except we had not even had an initial contact and I had menu questions. When she did come to my table, Reina, initially seemed friendly enough. But got snippy quickly when I asked about the hollandaise sauce (because we don't like Powdered Benedict.) She said it was fresh made but they don't serve it after 11am. I was confused since the menu stated Breakfast All Day and the classic Bene was listed. I asked why it said all day but wasn't available. (Not trying to argue, just confused.) At this point Reina got argumentative and aggressively pointed at my menu and said, "Look the specials say to 11". I pointed out the "breakfast all day" section where Classic Benedict was listed. She continued to assert I was wrong. I chose to let it pass and placed my order for my lunch. I had been looking forward to the coconut shrimp anyway. She took my order with a false smile. She must gave realized she was being snappish because she decided to tell me 'If I seem short, it's because I have all these tables and as you can see it's only me". I hadn't asked for an explanation and she hadn't offered it to any other customers. I could see it was busy, but offered her, "Sorry, it's my first time here and I had questions about the menu." She took my order and left to go handle other tables. She eventually came back and "tossed" my salad plate in front of me pretty rudely. No word, just turned, flipping her ponytail and walked away. No asking if I needed anything else. At this point I got mad. I asked Spring, for the manager. One wasn't on duty. I told her I didn't appreciate how my salad had been "tossed at me" rudely. I told her I was canceling my order. At this Point Reina came up and started arguing with me that she was projecting the vibes back to me that she was getting from me. I have to say it is pretty rude of a server. No matter what a customer is doing, or how they appear, she shouldn't make assumptions or behave so unpleasantly and unprofessionally. She didn't know me, and had no idea what was going on with me. She made an assumption that I was purposely being rude and decided to pay me back in kind. Not good for a first impression. read more

I like coming here for the salad bar. It has all kind of goodies on it. Yummy. Today, I was very disappointed. They did had the salad bar but it was not much on it. It has a Lettuce and few vegetable toppings and salad dressing. That's it! I was so surprise. I went back to my table and told her that I did not want the salad bar and that is why I came here for. I'm sorry, I don't write negative reviews but this place is trash. I have no idea why there are always people in there eating. My in-laws might be why. They said they frequent it because they live in Sun City and it's close. Here's why the review. Four of of dined there for lunch. Mom-in-law was excited to take us there. Everyone ordered burgers except me, I ordered a "French Dip" with a cup of cream of broccoli soup. The soup tasted like they put way too much corn starch in there to thicken it up. The texture was simply gross. My French Dip sandwich came out and immediately the presentation looked very non-impressive. Hardly any meat. The meat looked off to me. I took my first bite and immediately recognized the meat as Pastrami. Not Roast Beef as French Dip should be. The Au Jus was flavorless brown liquid. Paired with the pastrami sandwich they gave me, it was almost inedible. I brought the meat discrepancy up with the waitress who admitted the meat didn't look right. No offer to take it back or remove from my bill. She came back and said the kitchen ran out of roast beef and used a "different" kind of roast beef. Well ma'am, that "different" kind of roast beef is called Pastrami and it taste nothing like regular roast beef. I am not at all a difficult customer, and frankly probably should have complained a bit more. The waitress walked away without trying to fix the issue and left me with my pastrami sandwich and brown flavorless liquid to dip it in. I did take a bite of my wife's burger since I wasn't really eating my sandwich. I can say the burger for the price was very mediocre or even sub-par. I think I would have preferred Burger King. The meat was dry and overdone, she ordered medium, and the bun was stale. This place seems to make it just fine but for out of towners looking for the best that Peoria has to offer, this is nowhere near it. I'll pass next time. read more

The ranch dressing was very good and can tell it was homemade . The cucumbers on salad was bitter that's the only complaint. Hubby loved the soup of the day Navy bean soup. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all times of day,so if you are hungry, there is plenty to eat. Masks are worn by all workers, tables ,chairs and booths are wiped down after use. The restaurant was extremely clean. I was seated as soon as I walked in. I was waited on as soon as I set down. The waitress was cheerful, smiling, and very friendly . I ordered liver and onions and an appetizer of fried onions . I received first the appetizer , a salad, and then the food. The quantity of the food that I received was more than I could eat, and I wound up taking some of it home. The one thing I wanted to bring up was that I noticed tables were being cleaned as people left, there was no dirty tables around and the floor was extremely clean. I started to notice the young boy, who was taking care of all the dirty dishes was very efficient and kept the place really clean. He even swept under all the booze as people were leaving just to make sure it was clean. The food was excellent and I will continue to go back there on a regular basis. This was the first time I ever left the tip for the young boy that was cleaning the dishes up because I thought he was doing such a great job. The cost of the liver and onions was $16. Last time I was there they didn't seem to be adhering to Covid distancing and cleaning recommendations (after someone left, table was given a normal swipe but seats etc were not properly wiped down). Our first time here. First thing I noticed is the service. It was very slow. We were seated quickly but ordering and getting our food took more than 30 minutes. I do need to say the servers we did have were very nice and apologetic for the slow service. Someone may have called in sick, who knows.
