This review is for the Lee County location. Don't go inside- no service- employees talking in back instead of serving customers. Drive-thru is slow, slow, slow. Ordered a mix of all the way dogs (chili, mustard and finely chopped onions), and slaw dogs on split top griddled buns. Toaster bun and sauce.. I have been eating there since the 1950s.. Always quick service.

Not a fancy establishment but you know that going in. You go in, place your order, pay, and a few minutes later you are handed your completed order to go. Mom often got dinner here for us on weekends when we were coming back from the cousins' house in Thomasville. I never miss an opportunity to drop in when I'm in Albany. There is no indoor seating and the staff has always been friendly on our visits. read more

Proudly claiming the crown of King of the Hot Dog, Jimmie's Hot Dogs have been a long time establishment feeding hungry patrons who have crossed the threshold of their humble establishment. The hot dogs are small, possibly 12/1, but in their defense, a chili dog all the way will set you back $1.25. They taste to be a beef/pork blend. So ultimately, I am glad I stopped by, but would I return? I can't say that I would go out of my way, but if I needed a meal for barely above a buck, I could do worse. read more

Jimmie's is a very well known hot dog spot to everyone who is from Albany. It's almost like the Varsity to Atlanta (I hate the varsity though it's disgusting) Jimmies however is historical and just a MUST when I come home. It's not my favorite hot dog spot but hot dogs are my favorite food so I eat them ALOT. One thing I love about Jimmies is the history of where it stands and how it has survived all these years and all the floods of Albany. Inside there is a lot of history on the walls. Even the Paula Dean photos () She went to Albany high school way back when y'all. ANYWAY Jimmies hot dogs are affordable and I usually get the same thing every time but I switched it up this time just for this post. My normal is slaw dogs all the way (meaning mustard and onions) add Jalapeños. But I got a chilli dog all the way, chili cheese dog all the way, and a slaw with peppers all the way. If you want fries they have them but I don't bother with items I'm not going to eat. They also have snacks like chips, sodas, honey buns,and candy. It's like a little corner store in there. They aren't requiring masks but they are only allowing a certain number of patrons inside at a time. The staff has changed from when I grew up going there so I'm not familiar with the women who served me but they were nice enough. This spot get 3 stars for historical and traditional but taste wise I like another hot dog shop in Albany more. Snack time anyone? This place meets the definition of "divey." Park across the street, walk over, and stand in line. I got two hot dogs with cheese and chili, total cost of $3 tax included!!! I wouldn't go here for a meal, but if you crave a hot dog this is a cool option. Place has nowhere to sit and no public restroom, and at these low prices I understand why it is cash only. I used to love going to this place because the people were so friendly... on top of the good food. I had the opportunity to stop by this week, and sad to say, the customer service was terrible. Out of the two people that were working, no one greeted us when we walked in or even made eye contact. I stepped to the counter, and the workers never asked how they could help or could they take my order. They just sat there and waited on me to say something. I immediately looked at my mom and said I wouldn't be back. That's sad after speaking so highly of the place over the years. My mom was ordering as well, and the young lady at the cash register completely ignored her order and then shortly after said "what did you want again?" The young lady then proceeded to help the guy that was fixing orders while wearing only one glove. I ordered my hotdogs all the way (chili, cheese, & onions), only to get back to Moultrie and be missing cheese from all of them. I've heard the location in Leesburg is better. Just by virtual the amount of time this establishment has been open they must be doing something right. The service is great, I was welcomed by the staff with a hardy southern welcome as I entered the store. The food came out hot and fresh. I can recall eating this as a kid and gladly buy a bag of 12 or more. Oddly things have changed over the years and unfortunately not for the best. On this visit I ordered 10 jimmies 4 with onion 6 without. I bit into the 1 dog/ no onion and it was gone immediately. But into the second and couldn't swallow it to save my life. Decades ago when I would spend summers in Albany, I remember having these delicious hot dogs...fast foward to adulthood nothing has changed. These dogs are the absolute best Ive ever had. The bun for starters is so soft and squishy inside and perfectly grilled on the exterior. I recommend getting chili, cheese and onions..yes it sounds decadent but its so worth it. This place has been a staple of downtown Albany for decades now and it still does not disappoint. They sell in bulk and singles, and they have a pricing chart conveniently located near the register. The buns are toasted here. I like the chili dog with mustard and onions. Those definitely hit the spot. You can customize it any way you like. This place has... the BEST DAMN HOT DOGS! I am from California but my Dad's side of the family lives in Albany. It is a quaint, little old school place. Stand in line (for there will be one!) And check out the quirky signs. This place has been around forever, and while I am one to get full off of one "regular" hot dog, I could probably chow down 3 of Jimmie's hot dogs!!! Get a pack of them and it won't last long, lol! They are known for their pink color... don't be thrown off. It's just how they roll :) I haven't had the chili dog yet because I can eat them PLAIN. I'm guessing they were boiled and probably something like McEvers hot dogs and who knows what's in those. The buns and chili were good.
