Ultimately a disappointing experience. There was some miscommunication on some tree work, and I was told they would be returning that afternoon. I had immediately agreed to the additional charge. Then I spent the afternoon waiting for them, for them to then tell me they could come in the morning. Everything before that was done well, and the person who is in charge of the office really tried to address the problem. Unfortunately being told "they'll be there later"' then, "I'll call you when their on their way" then "they can be there tomorrow morning" to "I'll let you know by 4" to "yeah they can't make it today" while trying to coordinate with access to my neighbors yard was very stressful and upsetting. read more

Requested a quote got back to me very quickly and they did a great job cutting several trees and several stump removal. Family owned tree service, and very reasonable! However, there was a stump that was missed, and they said they will get back to me a time they would send the guy back out to remove. We returned this year to Jimmie's Tree Service to trim our large Japanese Pear tree in front, three King Palms in the back, and remove 3 giant Bird of Paradise and one evasive tree that was getting too big. Jimmie's did an excellent job removing a 65 foot canary palm tree from a tiny yard and a 40 foot ficus grown out of control. Call them if you want a safe, reasonably priced company who actually shows up and gets the job done. I called six companies for estimates. Jimmie's showed up the day I called and sent me an estimate the next day. Two of the companies never showed up and two other companies saw the job but never got back to me with an estimate. Jimmie's came through and put my nerves at ease. The canary palm required an enormous crane to lift off the crown which the crane operator told me was 10,000 pounds. The company was punctual and professional for the estimate appointment. To start with the positive - Mona was quick to reply to initial texts and get the work scheduled. The actual tree trimming was fine. They didn't put furniture back but not the end of the world. Mona also told me to give the cash in a sealed envelope to one of the workers, and when he tried to open it in front of me, I told him I was instructed to give it sealed. Then he asked me how much was in it. I told Mona what happened and she said it was "none of his business." So that was just an awkward position to be in. As for the real reason of why 2 stars - the experience definitely could've been better. My internet went out while the guys were working but I was in the middle of a meeting and just used my phone's hot spot in the meantime. A few hours passed and the internet was still out and it turns out the guys cut the cable that runs internet to our house. There was literally a long, loose cable just hanging off my house onto the patio. We contacted Frontier and it was going to be 2 days until a tech would be available. Accidents happen, that is completely understandable. But when I reached out to Mona, things weren't handled well. I first tried to call but no reply so I sent a text (which is fine). However, I asked for a phone call back and informed her of the issue, sent a photo of the cable, and let her know that I work from home and our tv & lights run off our internet connection. I also said that Frontier would charge $150 for the technician service. Mona's reply was solely focused on the $150 charge and how they've cut many cables before and have never been charged, and how I should contact them to get it waived. I was told Tony would "contact me shortly", which never happened. Once the service was fixed today I mentioned that I was not contacted and was told "we were waiting for it to be fixed and now it's fixed." OK.. but you said he'd call shortly (2 days ago) and STILL no one has called, even after I've told you it's fixed. So for 2 days I've struggled in my Zoom meetings with unreliable connection using hot spot on my phone and will probably have a nice bill from the phone company for exceeding limits. My family and I sat in a dark living room for 2 nights, my daughter had no sound machine at bedtime (runs off Alexa), and we had no TV. These things aren't the end of the world in the big picture. What really bothered me is there was zero apology or ownership of the mistake. Just focused on getting that $150 fee waived - "We've accidentally cut wires in the past plenty of times and have never been charged." So, just a warning that apparently cables getting cut is not uncommon and you will be inconvenienced with scheduling a tech + making yourself available for 4 hour window, possibly be without internet for days, and not have anyone at Jimmie's contact you or own the mistake. read more

I am editing my original rating from 3 to 5 stars and my review below (I feel like I was overcharged...) because Jimmie's immediately addressed my concerns and took actions which I feel has mitigated the issues I had. I would definitely use Jimmie's Tree services again in the future and would recommend them to others. I feel like I was overcharged. Considering the cost and how quickly the project was completed, and the overall quality of the work that was done, I feel that I was overcharged. Today, a few days after the Jimmie's crew were at my home, I was able to spend some time in the yard. I found several low-growing plants trampled, branches I asked to cut that were not, and lots of cuttings that weren't picked up. Overall, I spent close to couple of hours "cleaning up" after them. This was disappointing considering the cost of the project and the relatively short time they took to complete it. On the upside, Jimmie's staff and crew were friendly and easy to work with and overall, they did what we agreed upon. Hence, 3 stars. Maybe I should have more diligently checked their work before I let them leave? But that's not my responsibility, especially considering the quality of work that was promised when I hired them. read more

I recommend them for jobs both big and small, which is exactly what ours was (one live oak, a carob and a pittosporum). Jimmie's quote was more than fair, quite reasonable, actually, and we would definitely hire them again for future work! And please remember to tip them. The crew worked for 6 hours in 90+ degree heat. And even if they didn't they deserve the extra love! 1. They did not show up at the time we agreed upon, and never bothered to call and let us know they would be late, or when they would arrive. We called to find out if they were even coming. They showed up 1 1/2 hours late. 2. Jimmie, who came out to look at the job, told us exactly what he thought our trees needed and we agreed. However, he never came to the site on the day of tree trimming and the workers did NOT do what we had agreed upon with Jimmie. They did an "okay" job, but not exactly what we wanted. For example, one small elm we just wanted the TOP shaped, keeping all the lower branches. We went outside at one point and found them cutting off all the lower branches! The person doing it, and the one standing by, did not appear to understand English as we tried to tell them to stop, and they just kept smiling, and nodding, and CUTTING! 3. They did not give us a receipt. They took our email address and said we would receive the receipt via email. WE NEVER DID. We still have not. Although the cost seemed reasonable (at first), you get what you pay for. The two stars is because they were friendly, and they did clean up very well. They left the property even cleaner than when they arrived. Not recommended. read more
