Fabulous service at a busy Fridsy lunchtime. Since this is just down the street from the VA Clinic, it'll be my go-to eatery. Dennis could NOT have been friendlier or more informative. We were perfectly taken care of, the "we" being my small Service Dog and me. Food was a free TexMex Insider bean tostada, and a cheese enchilada plate with charro beans. Greeted and provided with wait time via text Once seated, hot chips and salsa cake out immediately The waiter was new but was very attentive and did not slack at all! I had heard the food here was really good and as I had been in Austin I was ready for some better Mexican food (my experience is Houston and San Antonio have way better Mexican and Tex-Mex than Austin although Austin has better BBQ). I was a bit reluctant as this is a chain but it is a small local chain with locations just around Houston. The restaurant ambiance from the outside to the inside can only be described as putting out the vibe of a LOT of fun. The place was packed for a later lunch time on a weekday which would seem to indicate local folks do approve. The complimentary chips were brought out immediately and came with two nice salsas. The Rio Grande Combo with the fajita option was a respectable amount of food and enchiladas, taco and black beans (you get a choice of three types of beans) were all nicely done. The only downside of my visit is that I had ordered corn tortillas to go with my fajitas and it took an uncomfortably long wait before I received them but other than that the service was on point. I was driving so unfortunately I was unable to sample any of their tempting looking adult beverages. This also seems to be a place that little kids would find really entertaining and fun as well as the bigger kids like me. Overall this is a good option for some good Mexican food when on a road trip as it is easy to access right off I-10. read more

We have been coming here for years because it's one of the greatest places to bring the whole family with the outdoor play area the kids can actually have a blast running around while we enjoy a nice dinner. But aside from that awesome amenity they also offer a phenomenal menu of tex Mex cuisine mostly, all of it is super tasty and the service has consistently been wonderful. I love that they offer so many signature cocktails but one thing that's unique is they offer gallons of their delish margaritas to-go so you can enjoy their authentic margaritas from home too. Excellent Mexican food that is incredibly flavorful and isn't greasy. We tried a couple of tempting items from the menu. I had the Plato Soldano, a wonderful combination of a taco al carbon, cheese enchilada and pork tamale. The taco meat was delicious with just enough seasoning to enhance the meat and tamale was also delicious. Even the cheese enchilada was out of sight! My wife had the Ribeye Street Tacos, which were the best we've ever had (I got to sample them) featuring incredibly tender and juicy ribeye tips. Even the guacamole was spot on. Topping it off was a fabulous Prickly Pear Rita that was just the right combination of sweet and sour. Brae did a great job of keeping up with our split table party of 6 (split thanks to COVID). Overall, a wonderful experience. We will certainly be back! read more

This chain used to be much better a few years ago. It has changed quite a bit. The food is absolutely not good. Fish tacos had fish bones in it. Vegan order came with beans cooked in pork fat (they did fix this later). In all it's far from being a good place to recommend. read more

I've heard that Jimmy Changas has delicious Tex-Mex food. I've also heard the owner does a lot of great things for charity. So, when I was in the restaurant row area of Katy, I figured I should give them a try. If they're good, I'll give them my continued business for years to come. We walked into a really cool-looking restaurant. The place was packed, but the wait was only 15 minutes. The staff seemed to be on top of things. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the beef tacos cabron. My friend ordered a huge salad (I can't remember the name of it) with grilled chicken breast. Tortilla chips, salsa, and queso were all delicious. The queso was a little too delicious. I could not stop eating it even though I knew I had to save room. Me being mildly lactose-intolerant, it really wasn't a good idea. Needless to say, we drove home with the windows down. My friend was really annoyed with me. Next, came the entrees. Rice was perfect. Borracho beans were perfect. Tortillas were excellent. Beef was very good. My friend's grilled chicken breast was darn-near perfect. Probably the best chicken I've had in any Tex-Mex restaurant. That may not be saying much, but is was amazing. We didn't try any of the specialty drinks from the bar. They looked really good. We will next time. The desserts looked delicious. We sure as hell didn't have any room. Service was good,food was HORRIBLE, fajitas were red and bloody when I asked for them to be well done, then I got my check which was well over 100.00 and the fajita meat was not deducted since I didn't replace it, I asked for a manager and no one ever came to the table. It was my husband bday and I asked for someone to bring a sweet and sing happy birthday, the waitress came and brought him a slice of cake and didn't sing she said it was against policy due to noise concerns yet the place was filled with people and extremely noisy so I didn't get that part. Coming a long way and then find a long line on a Friday night. My granddaughter said it was the best Mexican food she has had in a long time. So that's why we went. It was a nice night out so we sat outside and waited to be called. As we were sitting there I noticed that people would walk up to a table that was vacated and stand there until it was cleaned. They would sit down and a server would take their orders. (This was for the outside seating). We asked the busboy if it was just grab a table outside and we were told yes. The server came right over and took or drink orders. We perused the menu and our order was taken. Granddaughter ordered tamales and I did a change platter. Chicken taquitos, donkey wings, cheese empanada & chorizo empanada, tex-mex eggrolls and gorilla peppers. The taqueria were very very good. The empanadas were ok. Donkey wings, I don't eat wings and the peppers were not so good. I understand that the tamales were very good. I'll probably try them when we go back but it won't be on a Friday night!!! read more

I've been here so many times yet I always forget to write a review. Probably because whenever I do go, I get a food coma afterwards. Their portions are huge! We always come for dinner around 6-7, which of course is a busy time for them. But the wait time is typically only 15-20 minutes, so it's not that bad. When you're seated, you get fresh chips and salsa to start you off. They also give you a creamy cilantro sauce that is to die for (very similar to Chuy's). Food (4/5) : After trying most of the menu, my boyfriend and I decided that our favorite is the Del Rio. It comes with a beef tamale, seafood enchilada, two empanadas, a crunchy taco, rice, choice of refried or charro beans, and a cheese thing that I forgot the name of. Everything was perfectly seasoned and the flavors were very present. But then again, most of their food items are satisfying. Price (4/5) : some might disagree, but I think their prices are very reasonable. You can't compare it to a taqueria of a family-owned Mexican restaurant. This is a Tex-mex restaurant that offers good quality food in big proportions. My only complaint is that the drink prices are pretty drastic. A margarita for $12! Service (4/5) : Honestly, service is a hit or miss for me. Most of the time, it's been good. Their waiters are very attentive and polite, but some of them seem sick to be there. Like they would check on you and offer refills, but they look annoyed and won't smile at all. It's not a big deal, everyone has their stories. All that matters is that we were serviced nicely! The food was good but unfortunately I had to sit in the curbside pickup for about 10 to 15 minutes and no one came to deliver my online order. A few others had to get out of their cars and head to the takeout counter and grab their food and get back in their cars and leave. i tipped for curbside pickup but probably won't be using this anymore if I'm going to have to still walk in and grab my food. read more

Came here on a Friday during happy hour, so was able to beat the dinner time rush. The margaritas were good, and of course, the complimentary ice creams at the front. There is also a kids play place at the front of the restaurant outside for people dining with children. My kiddos & two friends of mine came here for a late lunch. We all ordered the "El Jefe" and that came with rice, beans, the lettuce/tomato/onion thing, sour cream and some queso. The entree was a rolled chicken taco in a flour tortilla, a chicken flauta and a ground beef enchilada in red sauce. I'm not a fan of red sauce but I'm sure if I asked for a green enchilada it would have been better. The entree was a great price (11.99?) for what was included. We sat outside so the kids could play in their little playground. Although it's a first come first serve basis, there was plenty of seating and it was a great day to be outside. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure our water was always full. I also ordered a regular lime Rita $5.49 on the rocks and it was decent. My only thing is, I wish that the outdoor seating was fully secured because at the entrance and by the fountains, it's open next to the streets. So if you have littles, keep them close in sight because they could easily run out to the street. You also get free ice cream at the end! read more

However , after my friend took a bite of my for ( after sending hers back because it was BRICK HARD) she SPIT IT UP ... immediately . The new offerings for Hatch Grren Chilis are great! We had the Hatch Queso with Chicharones and the Hatch Green Chili Chicken, The Hatch Green Chili Enchiladas are delicious as well. He enjoyed it, the only issue was they forgot to bring out his cold plate until after he was finished with his hot plate. I had the shrimp tacos with elote instead of beans and rice. The elote was well worth the 60 cent up charge. The shrimp tacos made my mouth and tummy very happy! The slaw gave a nice crisp contrast to the soft corn tortillas and shrimp cooked to perfection. I ordered the Triple Threat to drink (3 small small small different flavors of frozen margaritas). If you like super sweet, thats the drink for you. I don't so I won't order that again. My cousin did have the Watermelon Margarita- sooo good!!! For my entree I got the Street Tacos- 1-Pork Carnitas 1- Shredded Chicken 1- Beef Fajita. A long with a side of Elote. The chicken had no flavor at all. But the Pork and Beef were perfect!! And the Elote- LISSEEENNN YUMMMMY!!!! And cheap!! Overall this place was average.
