While I was there they were turning away walk in customers since they did not have enough bread made I believe. Looked unorganized and there was definitely no effort to speed things up. We were in need of a quick bite that we needed to get to go, so we stopped in. Placed our order for 3 regular sandwiches and it took about 5-6 minutes to get our food. Not exactly what I'd call 'freaky fast', and seemed like a bit long with no line and 6 people working. Food was ok, but loaded with a massive amount of shredded lettuce that kind of overtakes the sandwich. I don't eat at JJ often, so wasn't aware you can get onions, peppers, etc. if you let them know. That would have helped, because the meat with a couple of tomato slices, mayo, and a heaping of lettuce lacks a bit of flavor for my taste. Bread was good (we all got wheat). read more

After my really poor experience at the other JJ location on Ankeny Blvd. I tried this location. Not only were the staff super friendly they also sold me the French bread they offer on the menu without some lame excuse. Like most Jimmy John's the air conditioning and the radio are turned all the way up. That said lkke most Jimmy John's- this is a decent place. The other reviews mention the S Ankeny Blvd location which as they say really is an awful restaurant. This place is fine. No real complaints except the blasting radio. read more

Ankeny has several Jimmy John's...most with excellent customer service/delivery...all but this location. I called in to check on my order for delivery (which was never delivered) and after 5 minutes of stammering and going to talk to his manager, I was told I was outside their delivery area. Now, this was the first thing I asked when I called in (verifying I had the correct location for my delivery area) to place a delivery order. I asked if they could look up my transaction info...I was told it was voided and sent to another store, so they couldn't look it up. I asked what he was going to do to make it right? (Since I've been waiting for close to an hour) and more stammering. Since I could clearly tell that he had no idea what to do, I stated I would call the SE Delaware location myself and they made it right. To the store owner of the Oralabor location...I think you need to teach the meaning of true customer service and how to be proactive to rectify a bad situation. Bad situations happen...and your staff needs to know how to deal with it in a positive manner that doesn't mock the customer. I got nothing from the man (boy) I talked to. I will start this review by saying my lack of lunch is totally my fault. Now the backstory. I love Jimmy John sandwiches. This particular location got my sandwich wrong three times on the same visit. Finally got it right on the fourth try. So I have gotten into the habit of checking my sandwich before I leave on every visit. Well of course the time I didn't check......ordered an Italian with no oil and no mayo. Got back to the office 15 minutes away and guess what! Covered in oil and mayo. Drive all the way back and got a new sandwich. Checked it before I left aaaand had to have it remade because of oil and mayo. The bread is really good and they make a great sandwich, if you stand over their shoulder and verify what they are making. read more

Busy location!!! But very convenient near Oralabor road, State street, and DMACC campus. Service here is just like any other Jimmy John's, freaky fast. They get your sandwich put to you quickly even during a lunch rush. You will pay a little more here than some other sub shops but the quality is so much better!! The beach club is my all time favorite. Turkey, provolone, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and best part avocado spread!!! Their kettle chips are great and so are their cookies! Horrible customer service. Didn't mark any sandwiches when we ordered 7 sandwiches. Gave super annoyed attitude when asked for napkins. When credit card wasn't working because of their scanner the idiot working announces that it's probably because we didn't have enough money and gave some final attitude when asked for napkins. I love Jimmy Johns period. I am a Subway kind of guy, but I love changing it up to Jimmy Johns on occasion. Their food tastes a bit more premium than Subway, but you get a bit less. This location has a drive-thru which is very awesome! I just discovered the "unwich", you basically order your sandwich and tell them you want it as an "unwich"and you get it without bread, but as a lettuce wrap! Their stores are always clean and smell great! Their staff members are friendly and fast at making subs. I'm glad Ankeny is beginning to explode with restaurants and new shops on this side of the area! Ankeny is getting big! read more

Usually there sandwiches are amazing but today I got one and it was absolutely awful.. the bread was hard and looked burnt the lettuce was soggy and it was an absolute waste of money.. if I hadn't ordered delivery I would of asked for a new sandwich. I wish I could rate it higher than five stars but unfortunately that's all I'm allowed to give on yelp, LOL Whatever you're paying those inshop workers isn't enough, seriously! There's one teenage-looking worker who especially brightens my day every time he makes my sandwiches- think his name was Jon or joe, I don't quite remember. Kinda cute too if I do say so myself.....
