Jimmy is a decent fast food chain for a healthier sandwich option. However o. My last visit I was disappointed to receive a bare a pretty empty sandwich. I don't know if they ran out of ingredients or changed the recipe, but the sandwich left much to be desired.

After years hearing good things about this Jimmy John's location on Northgate Way in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle (my home neighborhood in my American hometown), I finally decided I would make it the Jimmy John's location for my first ever time having Jimmy John's. Driving past about half an hour before opening on Sunday 29 October 2023, I quickly checked out the parking situation. There was a small stretch with a few parking spots for retail parking with a 20 minute maximum abutting the side of the restaurant. Beyond these spots was a larger garage for retail parking. Returning about opening time, 11:00 a.m., I opted for the parking garage and was able to find an open compact spot on the top floor (ground level). Walking to the restaurant entrance, I noticed a sign on the door communicating the location was short staffed and thus there might be long waits. However, I was one of the first customers in for the day and the wait was not too long. The worker took about 4 orders, then filled them all in one go. He was a clear and straightforward communicator and in good spirits. I went with the 8 inch (regular) Vito (Number 5) on French bread. My choice was largely inspired by a video by USA Swimming on YouTube that featured Drew Kibler sharing his commitment to Jimmy John's as part of his training regime. As a runner, I was hopeful for a mix of tastiness and good-for-the-body ingredients. Eating on-site in one of the booths, I was happy both with the sandwich and the amount of natural sunlight serving as lighting. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The meats (capocollo and salami) were salty, the cheese (provolone) creamy/soft, and the seasonings (basil, oregano), oil, and vinegar helped the vegetables (tomato, onion, lettuce) shine without taking away from their flavor. In terms of the food being a good fuel for training, I had good workouts later the same day as well as the following afternoon (today, Monday 30 October 2023), including achieving an all-time second best time for myself in my current training set this afternoon. So in that sense, the food was good training fuel (I find food choices can impact my performance up to 48 to 72 hours later, typically). Reflecting on my experience yesterday and today, I was pondering some of the signs posted in the restaurant, such as the shirt and shoes required by state code. If Drew Kibler wanted to come in and dine wearing the attire he competed in at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, would that then mean he would need to don additional clothing in addition to what he wore in competition... Left me with food for thought in terms of transferability of athlete competition attire to real life scenarios.

Wtf do you expect? To be treated like a noble? You are going to jimmy John's ain't no way you are reviewing a dining experience. You grab your sandwich and be glad you got a meal for $10. Also anyone that eats their sandwich like the picture here, is kind of a psychopath. The ppl that work here get that bread and get me bread too. Ain't no way I'm planting a hair for yelp clout.

There you can see a piece of hair that does not belong to me in my food while eating I pulled out.

The customer service. Wasn't welcomed in upon arrival and the lack of communication. It was my first time there and wanted to try something new. I was excited but disappointed in the customer service didn't seem to care about the service they provided for their company. They should be grateful for jobs right now in the economy I got laid off mine and I know a lot of people are struggling out there right now. And food experience in sub par. I found a piece of hair in my food. You can see the picture below. I would say go take your money somewhere else.

I love this location, i feel like it's really been on the come up again after a hard winter. It also helps that this most recent promo has been my fave!

They only had four people working during lunch. It took 25 minutes waiting for a single sandwich.

Interestingly, the meat came in two separate pieces, arranges somewhat like an X or a cross in the middle of the sandwich. This certainly wasn't the eating experience of a typical sandwich with a circular meat patty, and I appreciate the creativity here. The meat was insanely crunchy, oily, and quite plentiful. Each bite felt a bit like you were biting into a crunchy churro, but without the sweetness. I did think the outside of the pork did overpower the inside, though, as I didn't taste the meat or the fat inside much, and due to the amount of breading the pieces ended up being a bit chewy The bun was quite good as well - it was pretty soft, fluffy, and served as a really good bookend to all the ingredients inside. I thought the lettuce and onions also were good. I don't know if I'm a fan of the jelly on the sandwich - but again, I do like the creativity. What did shine here was the aioli, however. In a lot of places, you don't really taste the aioli on a burger - but that flavor was ever-present on this sandwich, and it was really fantastic. The absolute best part of the meal, by far, though, was the biscuit I have to start with how huge this is. This is certainly not the size of a typical Southern-style buttermilk biscuit - rather this biscuit makes no apologies in its effort to stand out from the crowd. Absolutely nobody would mistake this for a traditional biscuit - on the contrary, I think on first glance most people would assume this isn't a biscuit at all. It's shaped more like a massive pastry. I hesitate to say that looks are deceiving, because it does look great, but its taste manages to elevate past that. This was SO good. The edges are baked perfectly - they're oily, crispy, crunchy, and perfectly flaky. All four sides provide an amazing base - like the walls of a fortress that surround the soft, tender interior of the biscuit. You can see the different layers from the outside as well. When it comes to the inside, there was so much to get through but every bite was heavenly. So much credit here goes to the honey butter - which when spread onto the biscuit, raises the taste level of the entire thing. I put so much honey butter on mine that I nearly finished the whole thing. When it came to the jam, it was good, but since it didn't combine great with the honey butter I mostly ended up just using the latter This place was expensive - around 16 dollars for the sandwich and 8 for the biscuit - however, I was quite full at the end

The slaw was refreshing and cuts the heaviness of the meal (it has mangos!!). Add some of their spicy sauces if you want more flavor! It's spicy but not too bad. The highlight was the plantains and yuca fries. Plantains were soft and sweet. Yuka fries had a nice texture, crunchy exterior and fluffy starchy inside and with the dipping sauce !!

Checked out the menu and saw some new thangss including a loco moco? You know I had to try em out. I mean.... It's solid hahaha. Still comes w the standard slaw + beans + rice + maduros. Their version of loco moco is a patty + special gravy + one egg on top. I mean for $14 or whatever, it's not the worst esp when ya factor in quality + quantity. I just wish there was a way they could separate out the slaw/beans w the actual loco moco part of the plate. That way I could actually just taste the gravy, rice, patty, egg components alone.
