I fell in love with Jimmy John's in Austin as a hungry undergraduate student and the craving for a freaky fast sandwich still strikes occasionally. Their sandwiches are very fresh and absolutely delicious. However, service could do with some improvement. I ordered two large JJ platters last year for an event but they were prepared incorrectly. I specifically asked for no mayo on any of the sandwiches... every single sandwich was slathered in it. I sent corporate an email and was promised a "do over" tray by this location but it was never fulfilled. Definitely disappointed. Will return for sammies but probably not for large scale orders. read more

I stopped by to pick up two sandwiches for lunch today. When I walked in to order no one said anything to me. I looked at the menu board and began ordering to the young man at the cash register. I was using the side menu as I was just trying to look quickly. He says to me very very rudely, "maam, there's a menu above and I can't hear you". I continued my order, paid, and waited on the side. He took extra long as he wasn't very nice and seemed to be having a bad day. When he finished my order he took both sandwiches, didn't put them in a bag and slammed it on the counter in front of me and walked away. Hi went few days ago! It was my first time going after years to this location. I was confused how to order and what .... the Indian/Pakistani guy was very kind and helpful and patient while i decided . I ordered for my daughter and i and he made sure no jalapeños were on her side of the sandwich. I really appreciate his customer service. At time high schoolers were working here and just so lost or it's Thier first job i don't blame them. But i didn't come across that here this time. Sandwich was really good too! The #4 (turkey) is tasty, but I like my sandwiches hot or at least warm -- unfortunately, Jimmy John's serves all of their sandwiches cold. The food came out pretty quickly, but one time I decided to try a sandwich "Unwich" style (making it a lettuce wrap instead of using bread) (I wanted something lighter after having eaten a lot of heavy meals lately) and they forgot the cheese. so literally this was my lunch: lettuce + turkey + a couple of tomato slices. I'm not sure how they do it but they make their sandwiches so fast. Sometimes possibly too fast as once I got my sandwich without cheese and the lettuce was not "EZ" but any stretch but for the most part they do a good job. Their chips are awesome, each bag comes full. Only thing I'd suggest is getting a list of their toppings and options for what you can get in a sandwich since most of their sandwiches already have their suggested toppings so unless you tell them what you want you're pretty much getting whats listed in the description. For example you can get hot cherry peppers on a sandwich but unless you knew that you'd just get whats on the menu since you don't really watch them make your sandwich. Other options are: Italian Vinaigrette, Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard (this is the only type of mustard they have), Onions, Oregano, Avocado Spread, Cucumber, Tomato, Hellmann's Mayonnaise, Bacon, Roast Beef, Smoked Ham, Tuna, Turkey, Provolone Cheese, Vito Meat (Capicola/Genoa Salami), Capicola alone, or Genoa Salami alone. All these can be added as extra toppings to whichever sandwich you pick. Each topping can also be deemed "XTRA", "REG", or "EZ". Everything but the Avocado Spread, Provolone Cheese, Bacon, Turkey, Roast Beef, Smoked Ham, Tuna, Vito Meats can be added without an extra charge. Some things come out cheaper than Subway but the biggest sandwich also only comes in 8" rather than 12". #15 Club Tuna with chips and a drink goes for under $9, not bad. I ordered, got in my car and drove from Rosenberg (HWY36) to Sugarland only to find my order hadn't even been started on. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT! If I could give 0 stars I would. I work 0.5 miles away and ordered from this location through DoorDash because I was in meetings all day and didn't have time to leave for lunch ( side note: this location elects to use their own couriers, not Dashers, DoorDash simply placed the order for me). My order was placed at 11:42am and was projected to be an 18-20 minute delivery which made sense since they're only 0.5 miles away. Instead of 18-20 minutes my delivery took 50-60 minutes, what should have been a warm sandwich was cold, and what should have been French bread was wet mush and all the ice in my drink had already melted. Had I had the time in my schedule I could have walked from my building to theirs, ordered, eaten, and walked back in the amount of time it took for them to delivery a 0/10 sandwich and saved myself the $2.99 delivery fee and $6 DoorDash fee. read more

Went inside to order at 12:45pm, typical lunch time. My order was taken then I was told I would have to wait for my order because THEY RAN OUT OF BREAD!? Aside from the humor of a sandwich chain running out bread, why would someone take my order knowing they don't have ANY bread to make my sandwich and purposely avoid telling me until I've paid! My experience at this location was...less than pleasing. I had never been to a Jimmy John's before and told the woman at the cashier this, because I'm sure I looked a little lost when I walked in. I eventually ordered a #1 just to see how the food was. I was never asked what I wanted on my sub in terms of veggies, etc...but I just assumed that meant that what I ordered was already stacked with specialty items specifically for that sub. When I got the sub, I was a bit shocked. It was literally bread, a little bit of meat, some cheese and a massive amount of shredded lettuce. I went up there to ask if I could put some other things on my sub...(pickles, peppers, mustard, etc.) and she handed me some mustard packets. What???? I've been a customer at this location for over two years now and keep convincing myself to go back thinking the experience will change. My kids love their sandwiches and they're decently priced so it's a quick lunch pick up after Saturday morning activities but despite their motto that they're quick it's always a whole to do to get a sandwich here. The team is pretty unfriendly to start with. If you ask a question it seems that you bothered the cashier and today was no exception. It took over 20 minutes to get my order because a large order had been placed prior to my arrival. That's fine I get it but maybe instead of having three or four people work the same order have one of them do the order for those ordering at the restaurant. My sandwich was also completely wrong, I can't have onions and specifically said "no onions" and it was in the receipt but there they were. There's not much I could think of to improve my experience here. They create a decent sandwich, and definitely live up to their name out of being super fast. I literally by the time I pick up my chips after paying for my food my sandwich is already ready. That is amazing. When you walk in, the ship selection is actually at leg high-level just below the register. They make your sandwich by the time you start ordering. And your food is ready by the time you're ready to grab a drink. The interior this place is a decent dive. And the cool thing is there is an entry at the front and the rear of the restaurant so it's easy access in and out. There is outside umbrella seating and if a friend would rather have a burrito, they can get chipotle next-door and you can get a sub sandwich and meet and sit outside together.But I would encourage you to tell your friend to order chipotle I had a time, because by the time they get their burrito you could've already finished your sandwich because of how fast they make it. I boycotted Jimmy John's from 2003-2008 because of this terrible hippie tramp in Austin who had a shit attitude because of what I ordered on my sandwich. Back then, I didn't have much of a preference for all the toppings so I told her which ones I wanted and she said something to the effect of, "Why didn't you just order the Turkey Tom??" to which I replied, "I've never been here before, how would I know what that is?" Then she threw the bread on the prep station and tossed in the ingredients with a scowl on her whorish face. Fast Forward to late 2008, I finally came back but to the Sugar Land location. Well, their service is great and so are the sandwiches. I prefer the Gargantuan fully loaded with extra hot peppers. I usually go every other Saturday when I'm in the area but I have only been to this location. All is well at Jimmy John's now except the Gargantuan still isn't half as good as my DiBella's sandwich in Rochester! read more

I've heard so many people rave about Jimmy John's so I thought I'd give it a try one day. I got the 'vegetarian' sub and was very underwhelmed. I love cheese, but the provolone overpowered all other contents of the sandwich and even though there was guacamole, I felt like the sandwich in general was very bland. I can't speak of the other sandwiches, though. As far as the atmosphere goes, it's a very chill and small place. Turkey Tom(Healthiest thing in the world besides air and water), with Salt and vinegar Chips added to the sandwich and a ice tea. The staff today 8/30 was amazing!!!! I had a drive by baby shower set at 11AM and we live about 20 mins from Sugarland. It's a weekday evening. It's 4 o'clock, and you've been studying. Downtown's far and you're not feeling Japanese, Taiwanese, Lebanese, etc. So you go down to your classic deli and order up a 8 inch Vito (Italian sub w/pastrami) for under $6 that is prepared in less time than it takes you to fetch a few napkins and find a seat. Everything's lovely, but then when you're in the middle of your sub, an unpleasant incident between employees unfolds before you. One of them has a complaint with the other being overly voluble on the job, and things get tense. It's understandable - you're on the job, it's the time of day when the lighting makes you irritable, and there are only a few customers trickling in and out, but I've always been particular about the vibe of an eatery. If there are internal issues, it's advisable to keep them internal, in the sense that they're not out there for customers to bear with listening to. read more
