Dont blame me. We are not dive bar kinda people. This was Mr. B's pick. Not sure what he was thinking. But he figured this is the kind of place to find good greasy spoon kinda food. He is getting out of hand now that I taught him how Yelp works. So, we came for breakfast. After spending the night at the exclusive Hilton downtown, we had to shake off some of that snobbery. Smelled like smoke when we walked in. There were at least 10 TV screens in this dive bar. Big and roomy, a local gathering place for watching those all important football games. I would describe this as a "period place". By that I mean it was probably new in the 50s. And not a whip of change since. You know, "If it aint broke dont fix it." Stucco exterior, dirt parking lot with large holes disguised as puddles of mud. Even the ladies bathroom had that old fashioned towel dispenser with the continuous roll of blue cotton. Not paper. A real Pinball machine and several other video games, a crane game for winning a stuffed animal. 6 lottery machines and a carnival popcorn machine. A lot of forgotten caps and jackets all hanging on 4 hooks by the door. Two pool tables. Set up area for live country (?) music or (shudder) karaoke. And don't forget we are in U of O Duck country. The sign said GO DUCKS! So, "Go Ducks" (I just said that so I wouldnt get jumped. God help me if I said something about cute little beavers). So, for starters their coffee is good. Not thin and nasty like many a mom and pop cafe tries to pass off. Mr. B ordered a hamburger, me a veggie omelet. Both were real good. Generous amounts of delicious vegetables and cheese in the omelet. The hash browns were crispy good. You know, heart attack crispy. Even the toast was real good, already buttered. The hamburger, overdone (he requested medium rare, but delicious regardless. And he opted for a plateful of healthy alternative salad instead of the obligatory fries. Good job, honey. So, other than the strange looks of "hey, yew ain't bin here before" from the guys at the bar, this was a good spot to kick back and get real food.

Big City Gaming and Home Team Kitchen- 4 stars…read more Big City Gaming is a Sports Bar in Eugene. I went here on the 4th of July which is hella less annoying than 4th of July in the Mission in SF aka my hood. So my beloved Lotus Garden aka vegan Chinese food that is fab that I would frequent in the day when in lived in Eugene was closed on the 4th despite their website saying they were open and walked there to find out they only are currently doing take out. Damn like Kendrick Lamar So I walk back to Big City Gaming and the friendly bartender tells me that they have an all vegetarian menu even though it isn't pure veg aka they have non veg too. It's all good baby, baby. I am starving after walking heaps in the hard sun like Eddie Vedder. So I get some water and check out the all veg menu. Upon the bartender's suggestion I go with the jackfruit tacos. They were quite alright aka two corn tortillas filled with generous portions of fajita style grilled jackfruit, topped with cabbage, pico de gallo and our signature avocado crema sauce sprinkled with queso fresco. I decided to add vegan crema and non-dairy cheese for a buck. It hit the spot. I did feel like a fish out of water with all the screens showing baseball as basketball is my jam. I am a huge Warriors fan and sad we lost Donte yet he is going to the Knicks. Cool atmosphere with screens for sports and games such as shooting basketballs in the hoop etc. Recommended for sports night!

The menu is what you'd expect as well. I came in for dinner with family and got the Diablo Burger with tater tots. The burger came with pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, and a chipotle mayo. It was relatively spicy with a nice seasoning on the burger. I was happy to try a unique burger at the bar. It didn't blow me away, but it was decent. My wife got the standard cheeseburger with bacon and said much the same. The food here is really just part of the experience -- and honestly, that's fine. Wetlands isn't trying to be fancy or upscale. It knows it's a sports bar and is okay with that! Halfway through our meal, a trivia night started at the bar and we signed up as a team. Winners got gift cards for the bar. Even though my team did horribly, coming in last place, it was a blast. So fun to randomly be looped in to a game like this. So, yeah. Is there better food elsewhere? Totally. But I'll for sure be coming back if I want a casual meal with family. And I'll hope trivia is happening again!

I am pretty sure most of the items that were previously taken off are back. I went immediately for the Southwest egg rolls. My Dad ordered the corned beef hash, and one of my boys had steak taco's. Not sure if that is new or not. He said he really liked them. I can't wait to get a steak salad again. I didn't get it today because I already had my heart set on the sweet chili wings, to go along with my egg rolls. The layout of the menu looks clean, and great. I snapped some pics, they were not the best as I had my 4 year old Grandson reaching across me every few seconds for his Dad across the table. Thank you Barger Grill for bringing the favorites back. This is the first restaurant I have been at in Eugene that serves a proper patty melt. They use a wonderful marble rye bread with a good melted cheese on a good hamburger patty. This is a good place to watch sports games or just to get together with friends. Staff is friendly and professional, and make you feel at home.

On the weekends starting Fridays they have the eggs Benedict, which I like to order some times. They are really good here. They also have a good prime rib breakfast special some times. I can't remember the day that falls on. The ham breakfast is also really good, and also another one of my go to's. For the lunch's I like the steak bites, or their sandwiches. Also they have great chicken. I always hear how good their pizza is, but I am never in the mood for it when I am here. But I know soooo many friends, that love it, and my kids (grown) do too. I like showing up on prime rib night once in a blue moon. It is pretty decent. You can bring your kids (young) under 21 until 3:00 pm I believe. We have met my Son, and Grandson here for breakfast. Definitely be back.

The place was clean and wasn't too loud even though there were some other people there drinking and talking too. The drinks were good but we didn't get any food so I can't speak to that at all. There are two bathrooms so there can be a line when there are a lot of people, so time your trip wisely. There's no parking lot since it's downtown, but there's a decent amount of street parking. There's also a paid lot a block east of the bar, it's a 24/7 paid lot so there are probably better options that are free after a certain time. While we didn't plan to go here initially, I'm glad we did. It felt like a safe space for myself and my queer friends and we genuinely had a good time.
