The staples like Pad Thai and Crab Rangoon are just so good, but I try to be adventurous and try new stuff all the time. Never had a bad dish. I eat a lot of tofu as my protein and they do a great job with making the tofu the perfect texture. My favorite is probably the Pad Siew with tofu. Visited Jimmy Thai during a weekday to try their lunch special. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken mixed vegetables with crab rangoons and crispy egg rolls for appetizers that came with the lunch special and Thai iced tea. Thai iced tea was great! Thai iced tea is generally a very sweet beverage. So don't get it if you don't like sweet drinks. The appetizers were good as well. Flavors is what you'd expect at a Thai place. Ive had different versions of the chicken Pad Thai at many Thai restaurants in the lake county area. My favorite kind of chicken Pad Thai has chunks of egg pieces and shredded cabbages on the side with peanuts. I also like my pad thai noodles a bit more soft. Jimmy Thai's version of the pad thai does not have eggs or shredded cabbage on the side. The noodles were a bit Al Dente for me. But was still good. It was missing some "wok" flavor that I'm used to when ordering Chicken Pad Thai elsewhere. If you're looking for a lighter lunch option, the Mix Vegetable dish might be the one for you lol One thing I do want to mention is how clean the restaurant is. The staff are all still wearing masks. Tables are cleaned right after customers leave. Jimmy and staff was very friendly and welcoming and checked up on us to see how lunch was. I don't see many restaurants following precautions like that anymore so they deserve 5 STARS for this! They are also serving bottled waters instead of tap water to their customers. This is a great little a Thai restaurant. This was our 2nd time and it didn't disappoint. Ambiances are low key but, it works. Family friendly restaurant and also like the fact they have reasonable hours so the staff could get to there family on time. Food is absolutely delicious sticks the authentic flavors. I've made two visits to Jimmy Thai (takeout and dine-in) and I gotta say this place is outstanding! This is probably one of the best Thai restaurants in the North Suburbs when it comes to food and service. Their food is fresh, delicious and overall healthy. I normally order pad thai or pad see ew but this time, I went on a recommendation made by fellow Yelpers (Rafi and Gerry) and went with the pad woon sen. I ordered mine with with Tofu and Chicken. I like to get mine a little bit on the spicy side. It has a healthy amount of veggies, noodles and protein seasoned just right. Pad woon sen is now my favorite go to when I order from them. When I told Ben I was going to Jimmy Thai, he didn't hesitate to order and requested his favorite pad see ew with tofu. So far we haven't had a dish there we didn't like. The best time to go is during lunch hour. Their $9.95 lunch specials are excellent. Their select menu provides an ample portion and with appetizer included, the price can't be beat. My interactions with the staff have been nothing but positive and for takeout, your order is ready on time unless notified that they are running behind. The feel of the place is one big room with plenty of tables that get filled with patrons (so we waited in a couple of chairs by the entrance for 5 mins for a table to open up). We just moved to the area and were on a hunt for our new local Thai place, and I think we've found a great staple to add to our list of regulars. I ordered what I always get when trying a new Thai place, and my husband did the same - cashew tofu and pad see ewe beef. We also ordered a side of fried rice. We ordered both main entrees to be on the spicy side, but found we needed to add to it ourselves, which the waitress brought to our table in the form of spices and sambal oelek (Thai chili paste). We appreciated that we could customize our entrees to fit our own spice preferences, though my husband said his was fine as it was made. Our food was made quickly and delivered to our table fast, so we didn't have to wait long. We also liked the short list of traditional Thai and Japanese beers, though we missed our usual favorite for Thai dine-in: plum wine. Normally, when we get food from here, it's really good. I can say that the eggrolls while small I did get three and they're very tasteful. They're not greasy at all, but the pad Thai I had gotten the noodles were all clump together and I was still to pick it up in 15 minutes when I got it it was cold. Amazing Ramen! I got the Japanese beef with the pork broth and it came out amazing. It's tough to find good ramen where I live so, it was great coming here and having some of the best Ramen I've ever had. The service itself was great. It's located right next to a Dept. of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office so I'm sure they must have a steady stream of customers - under normal circumstances. The Service was great as the employee was very informative on all of the dishes for lunch. She was very welcoming as we were first timers to Jimmy's. The food serving size per dish was also great. The veggies were bursting with flavor and the chicken and beef were nice cuts of protein. Safety precautions were followed by social distancing and mask wearing. Hands down the best ramen I've ever had! I've been coming here since 2017 and I still love it just as much as my first time here. They also have Thai food and other Asian food as well. We ordered: Pad See Ew - 1/5 - There wasn't much flavor, and the typical Pad See Ew sweetness didn't come through. Quality of the chicken didn't seem great, though this isn't super unusual for Thai food. Pineapple Fried Rice - 4/5 - this was definitely the best thing we ordered. It was unique and pretty tasty, but we found the chicken to be rather chewy so I would order it without a protein. It is a pleasure to review Jimmy Thai in Deerfield, IL; it is in the upper echelon of places at which I have dined in many years. Our family of 9 enjoyed a celebratory dinner here on a Saturday evening. I can say without hesitation that it was an outstanding experience: superior cuisine, excellent service, reasonable prices. We were seated in a semi-private area at the rear of the restaurant. Each place-setting at the table was given a small bottle of drinking water, a nice touch. Our server, Sue, did a top-notch, professional job, from patiently taking our orders to attending to our special requests. I ordered the Tom Yum soup with chicken followed by Pad Woon Sen, also with chicken. All of the noodle dishes are priced at a reasonable $11.95 while the soups are $6.75 (beef is $2.00 more); portion size is generous. Seasoning was appropriate: not overly spicy but not bland either. The restaurant is modest in size and decor and does a large takeout business. Based on this experience, I look forward to our next visit here. read more
