Was trying to find a Thai place that was open later during the weekday and this seemed to be the only one in the area. We came in and were seated quickly. The waitress was super friendly 'auntie' vibes for sure! The food came out quickly, we ordered the pad see ewe, rama chicken, sushi and a green curry order. We also had an appetizer of the chicken satay. The rama chicken was definitely the standout. The rice we received with the green curry order was a little bit hard (but maybe because we were so late in the evening) and the green curry was a bit watery for my preference. However we did bring the leftover curry sauce home and it was actually really good the following day over just plain rice! So not a bad option especially for a weeknight. read more

Cute little Thai place in the Glen! The older lady was so friendly when she handed out candy at this year's Halloween community event, and we finally made it back here to try the food. I loved that they have an extensive bubble tea menu, sushi, and traditional Thai dishes. I may come back for the lunch specials! The ahi tuna poke appetizer has a nice kick to it (jalapeños). I ran out of wonton crisps but ate the ahi tuna as is the next day. The TY sushi roll with shrimp tempura and crispy basil was very flavorful. My husband enjoyed the pad see ewe. Though he got it as a hot spice level, he didn't taste much heat. We keep saying his taste buds are dead. Facts. My girls enjoyed the California roll and huge portion of tempura udon. An alright choice for Thai food if you're in the area. The decor is fairly simple with wooden chairs and benches that weren't uncomfortable, but I wouldn't sit down there for long periods of time. Service was sufficient, a single server was managing the entire dining room during out visit and requests were managed at a reasonable speed. Prices were alright for the portion size and ingredient quality. The food items we tried were alright in terms of texture and flavor, with a reasonable presentation. I found the pad thai to be a bit light in flavor. Other than the seared egg, there wasn't much to add a strong savory flavor to it while it was lightly coated in sauce so it wasn't very sweet either. I still enjoyed eating it, but it doesn't stand out amongst other versions of pad thai that I've had. The massamun curry with chicken was a bit more flavorful, with a nice balance between the onion, sweet potato, and coconut milk. The meat provided was plentiful, though I would've liked some additional marination or flavoring on it. The portion was quite large and easily fed 2 people. Overall, a reasonable choice for Thai food if you're in the area. The cooking didn't stand out but it did a reasonable job of representing flavors. read more

This was a last minute idea. We were at The Glen and were hungry and decided to stop here for lunch. You will be fooled by the unimpressive decor. This restaurant absolutely rocked the two dishes we tried. We had the shrimp pad Thai and massamun curry with sweet potatoes. The shrimp pad Thai was very sweet and had the taste I was looking for. 5 stars for pad see ew with chicken. It was served piping hot and had the right amount of sweetness from the sauce and egg. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Really tasty and would definitely be back for it again! My friend had a few different sushi rolls and all of them appeared 'clunky' and thick. We shared the crab Rangoon which were also not great. The inner texture was more reminiscent of cottage cheese instead of smooth which is what I am used to. My friend and I were in the neighborhood and we ordered a few rolls for outside dining: - 2 spicy scallop rolls - 1 dragon roll - 1 salmon avocado They were really good! Each piece was filled very generously and the ingredients tasted fresh. The rolls basically melted in my mouth. Usually $8 for each roll is pricey for me, but it was worth it here because of the flavorful and fresh ingredients! I tried a piece of the dragon roll, which had the perfect amount of eel sauce and crunch from the pieces of shrimp tempura. Also, customer service was excellent! The owners were very kind! We popped in here around 4PM on a Tuesday. Loved the atmosphere, cozy and private, with comfortable seating. I had their Thai iced tea, and my girl had the butterfly pea lemonade, both were well made. Just the right emphasis of sweet and refreshing. The appetizers were spot on. We had the gyoza and the crab rangoon. The gyoza was juicy and steamed to perfection, and the crab rangoon was 5/5. We order crab rangoon at a lot of restaurants, and this was the best I'd had in awhile. We were in a sushi mood. So we tried the Spider and the Sunrise rolls. And wow. Both were eloquently crafted. The Spider was refreshing, and the Sunrise was rich and filling. The texture and taste on both were superb. The sauce that they drizzle on the Sunrise roll was savory and addictive. The crab rangoons were the most stuffed I have ever had and not just filled with cream cheese but actually meat! It was a great surprise even though they looked small. The sushi was great- we got 2 specialty rolls and 2 classic maki rolls. All of them were delicious and filling! The pad see ew was delicious and when we asked for Thai spice, it was actually spicy! An unknown but unpleasant sweetener was liberally poured over everything, from the appetizers to entrees, and that is the only taste that there was. 3.5 stars. Rounding up to 4 stars due to the variety it provides at the Glen. Average quality Thai and Japanese restaurant. We ordered the calamari, ahi tuna poke, pad see ewe, and Panang curry. Everything tasted good, but nothing really stood out. The calamari was the circular breaded kind, which didn't impress us, as it looks like something you buy from the frozen section of the grocery store. The ahi tuna poke was good. Tasted fresh, had great flavors, and went really well with the super crispy wonton crackers. Portion sizes for the entrees are on the smaller side. Overall, this place is a good option if you are at the Glen and have a hankering for Asian food. But it's not a place that I'd go out of my way to visit just for the food. read more

It pains me to not give this place a higher rating because the owners/servers/cooks are so welcoming, nice and friendly. I also like supporting family owned places and on my second time coming here, one of the owners (who was also the cook for that evening) remembered my name when she saw me. So sweet right? The place had just reopened after the new owners took over when I first came here (April '19) with a couple of friends. They offer basic Thai and Japanese dishes, as well as sushi rolls. I tried my friend's Pad Thai and I had the Spicy Udon with Tofu. I'm not a big fan of Pad Thai (and Thai food in general) so I can't really comment about it but my friend really liked her dish. The Spicy Udon could have used a little more heat but the flavors were good and I liked that there were a lot of vegetables and tofu proportionate to the noodles. I did mention to the cook that the noodles were a bit overcooked. I came back here on a Thursday around 6pm and a couple of tables were occupied. My kids and I were greeted and seated right away by the friendly hostess. We tried the Rama Noodle, Cashew Beef, Garlic Chicken and Spider Roll. The flavors were good but nothing spectacular. The portion size of each dish is quite small for their price point though. The hostess was the server for the whole place and she was also taking phone orders, so the service for the dine-in customers really struggled. I do like that Montira is a good option at The Glen and I hope that they work on their issues so they become a solid establishment here. You got this! read more

Typically, my husband doesn't care for this type of food so I was surprised when he suggested it. The woman helping us, possibly the owner, was very pleasant and helpful. She made accommodations and replaced 1 ingredient with a vegan substitute (just ask). The very delicious food was served in quite large portions. My "spicy" dish was definitely just the right amount of spice and all of the food was cooked just right and served warm. The sushi was fresh and good. read more

Montira Thai and Sushi is a solid go-to for three of my favorite foods: Pad Thai Sushi Wings They have all three! How convenient! And the best part: It's really YUMMY! I will admit, I've ordered out here two or three times, and the wings almost never make it past the first five minutes... so I have no photos to share. WOW good! Not spicy, (but I always use my own anyway), and very delicate and so tasty I almost never bother to make them super-spicy anyway. I don't know what they do to get the batter and fried crisp so exact, though I suspect it has to do with the magic that surrounds the delicate art of making Sushi, which they are also really good at. And lastly, my benchmark dish: Pad Thai - the cats over at Montira must have a relative who knows the secrets to the dish, because each time I've had it I make a note to get it again. I'm giving this 5 stars for one dish! (Other dishes we've tried were excellent as well, but this one in particular is a hands down winner): the Thai Salmon Salad ($12.00) Fresh salmon, crab stick, mixed green, daikon, lemongrass, red onion in spicy dressing. The dressing wasn't really spicy at all, just bright and lemongrassy and no oil as far as I could tell. This is a distinctly summer dish, but it is so delicious that I will have it all winter long! The kids enjoyed pad see ew, chicken satay, and the shumai. I wish they had pad woon sen, since it's one of our favorite dishes... May be one day. This place closed for a while and reopened under the same name with a significant interior renovation, but I don't know whether it's the same people or not. It probably doesn't matter. They are presenting a slightly higher price point and a bit swankier appearance. They offer two types of lunch specials: rice and noodle dishes for $9 and bento boxes for $12. The latter can come with teriyaki, tempura, or various combinations of sushi. Both include a choice of appetizer. Stick with the $9 options, because the non-sushi food is really good. It looks and tastes fresh and clean. The sushi, however, is mushy and bland. Hard pass, especially for 12 bones. Even the $9 dishes get a bit pricey after you add a few bucks for tip. So it's not a regular lunch stop for me, but if I get a Thai craving, Montira is the best and closest option. Service can be slow too. They may offer a lunch special but they don't pay too close attention to some customers' needs for a quicker in-and-out. read more

We order takeout from Montira 1-2 times a month and are always very happy. We have our sushi order and have tried many of the appetizers and maki rolls and all are very fresh and tasty. The salads are great - very fresh with great dressings. And we love the Thai dishes as well - the soups, noodle dishes and curries are delicious and very high quality. read more

I had the pleasure of discovering this marvellous Thai restaurant a few years back, and I've tried to make it a regular feature in my dining experiences. Most Sundays, it is my go-to place for lunch. The food is always fresh, delicious, and extremely good value. It is a family-run place, and when I am told how much I am appreciated, I believe it. Celebrated my birthday dining in here during the pandemic. It was very clean and safe. The staff was very conscientious, respectful, attentive, and followed all safety precautions. The sushi is the best I've tasted in the North Shore! They also have fancy drinks like bubble teas, thai coffee, etc. I found my favorite summer drink! The butterfly pea lemonade!!! The food was pretty good, but the service was lacking. we were seated right away, but after that was downhill. The 2 people there, who appeared to be the owners, were in the weeds and were clearly struggling to keep up. I empathize, but when you haven't been greeted at the table after more than 10 minutes--that's an inexcusable service faux pas. My date had to go to the man at the host stand and ask if we could order. I suggested we leave because they were too busy for the 6-8 tables they already had, but I think he was too hungry to risk having to wait elsewhere. Also, the bathroom was broken. I feel bad for them. I like to support small businesses and they're clearly struggling, but I'm just not sure the food is worth the trouble. read more
