Small business owned by a gentleman and his wife, very friendly and clean place! First time picking up food from here and it's probably the best Thai food I've had in the area! Will definitely pick up from here again since delivery isn't available. (Not on any delivery apps) But worth the drive for flavorful Thai food.

This place is o our way to a store nearby, we decided to give it a try. It was a great decision. I believe this is not a formal restaurant but more like carry out place with couple of tables.Their food looks and tasted homemade and authentic. The ingredients tasted fresh and light. I would love to go there again in the future and try other dishes as well.

We ordered 4 different dishes to try from Krua Thai. Its been years since we last ordered from here. Last time we ordered the lard nar which is what I like from a Thai place however after being reminded of a picture of this dish here we opted for some other items. This time we ordered the: Pad kee mow chicken Pad see ew beef  Green curry chicken Mussaman curry chicken All the dishes were good. The noodle ones were a little on the sweeter side. And even though we ordered the dishes mild the green curry and musaaman still had some spice to it. Overall a good tasty meal from Krua Thai.

Ok, yes I had Krua Thai 2 days in a row lol This time I had the extra crispy Pad Lad Nar with vegetables. I asked the manager to separate the sauce from the noodles so they could still be crispy and he said that he couldn't do it because they come together. He and the chef were really great though because they placed the crispy noodles on top of the sauce :) It was good! The noodles were very crispy and made well, the sauce was light in flavor and had the perfect savory flavor, and the vegetables were all crisp and not over cooked. I really enjoyed eating this dish and would definitely order it again.

Because we were already somewhat close to the area, and didn't want to go back and forth, we ended up being seated before 4 pm. It turned out to be an excellent overall experience. Chef of Siam is in its own small, dedicated building on Waukegan Road, and isn't much to look at from the outside with an OK amount of parking. It is relatively remodeled modern inside and later found out that it's been open for 2 years now. We got to choose our seating (since we were the only ones there). Menus were given along with a set of 4 table sauces. We knew our group of five wanted to eat family style so got a variety of things: classics and some I've never tried before. Chicken Satay ($7.95) - 4 pounded chicken breast pieces, marinated in a curry sauce, coming with a good cucumber salad. Tom Kha with Chicken ($5.95) - very light with good flavor. Ended up getting two of these to share, and I ended up finishing one portion by myself. Som Tum Poo $12.95 - papaya salad with salted rice field crabs. The vegetables were all al dente, with that classic Thai taste of sweet and sourness The crabs were interesting...really small, cut in half so I sucked out the meat from what I could. But I ended up not eating the legs...I ate the first piece whole, shell and all and it wouldn't be worth the effort for me. Pad Thai with Shrimp ($16.95) - Decent size portion, with a good balance of sweet/sour and plenty of plump, jumbo shrimps. Rama Noodle ($12.95) - large amount of chicken breast pieces, over wide rice noodles, topped with a yellow curry sauce and steamed broccoli surrounding. I thought it was OK, and was the least eaten of the dishes. Massaman Curry with Tofu ($12.95) - I try to get this whenever available, and this style was decent. The curry was very runny, but was delicious on top of the accompanying rice and I enjoyed the small bricks of fried tofu. Pineapple Fried Rice ($16.95) - maybe the weakest of the dishes, and also the most expensive. Not sure why pineapple fried rice continues to be one of the more expensive dishes on any Thai menu (when available)....pineapple isn't that expensive. Red Snapper ($35.00) - a whole dressed red snapper, deep fried and topped with Thai sweet/sour sauce. It's not market price, so it came from frozen and it wasn't particularly big nor had much meat. This is now what the ingredient costs now. I personally enjoyed taking the tail and slowly grabbing all of the sweet meat. Fried Banana ($6.95) - a great way to finish the meal, there were plenty of deep fried banana pieces, using a batter that you would use for fries or shrimp? My aunt confirmed that it was not plantain, but banana and I enjoyed it (reminded me a little of a banana foster). The quality of Thai dishes are closer to a fine dining Thai restaurant rather than a quick take out, even though the prices are more than reasonable. An automatic 18% gratuity was added for our party of five, and it's a stiff 12.5% tax in this area. Service was friendly and even though our server gave us a carafe of water, she still personally refilled our glasses when it got near empty. I tend to sweat quite profusely when eating Thai cuisine, and I did so again this time. My wife asked for some more napkins so I could wipe my brow. Our server did one better by bringing over a large wet towel that I used. It wasn't necessary but much appreciated.

The restaurant was clean, with a nice atmosphere. The server was pleasant, efficient and willing to answer the questions we had. The plates of food came quick, served hot, and were so good! Ordering was a breeze and the guys were always open to a conversation or giving suggestions. The restaurant was clean and the meal was always tasty. Just a note but the further away you move from any major city the fewer and harder it is to find great Asian food. The suburb is lucky to have them. The pandemic brought new staffing. Some were pleasant with customers though one lady, a supervisor had the wrong ideas of what customer service and proper etiquette is. Just the basics of my final visit. I took my family for lunch. We ordered lunch specials and a couple extra must-try plates. Two specials hit the table and the third was left waiting for her meal. Unbeknownst to us in the moment, her food was handed to a single patron there for his lunch. The place was filling up with a lunch rush but not so many that had complicated orders. Many were ordering similar lunch specials. Kung pao lunch special was popular. When her order finally arrived the supervisor realized she had given the wrong plate to the customer sitting some tables behind us. Mind you ten minutes had already passed. She quickly went over to him and asked what he had ordered. She then took the plate he was eating from and handed him the fresh plate. He was still holding a half eaten egg roll in his hand. Then she brought the quarter eaten plate and placed it in front of my mother. Before she could leave I stopped her and asked her what she was doing. She simply stated that was her lunch order. I told her she handed my mother someone else's food that they were eating and I watched the whole thing. Why didn't you take that to the back and make a completely new plate of food?! I paid the bill and got the F**k out. That's gross. Also, you gave the other patron new food but cannot do the same for our table?? This place is dead to me. If she could do that, it beckons the question of what else is happening behind the scenes.

The curry was flavorful, packed with veggies and chicken, and paired so nicely with the fluffy white rice. Lastly, we got the mango sticky rice for dessert, and they give you SO MANY MANGOES. The rice was sweet, and you had enough mangoes to pair it with every single bite of rice. The service was good; they always made sure to check in on us and even brought us extra plates to let us share our dishes. The ambiance was very Thai themed, and they had a lot of awards for their restaurant. It also caught my eye that they won a food bracket tournament with other restaurants I have heard of as well.
