Wow! What a great place. I was looking for ramen. My Yelp search led me to Jimmy Thai. I was skeptical at first because usually when restaurants try to do two different types of cuisines (Thai, Japanese) , it doesn't work out well. But I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Pad Kee Mou but Jimmy said he'd give me a free sample of the ramen. The Pad Kee Mou was delicious - flavorful with pieces of white meat chicken and fresh carrots, green beans and peppers. The ramen with roasted pork was amazing. They make their own broth and roast their own pork. Jimmy said they studied with a Japanese chef to learn how to make it. Very friendly service with the owner at the front of the house taking care of everyone. He subbed a cucumber salad and put rice noodles in the ramen because I am gluten-free. I ended up ordering a bowl of ramen to take home for my husband because it was so good that I wanted him to taste it. I'm guessing you can't go wrong here with anything you order. I visited during lunch when they offer counter ordering (table server during dinner). Their lunch menu has plenty of traditional Thai options. I got the Pad Woo Sen extra spicy and the lunch menu comes with soda/tea and a choice of appetizer. It was a ton better of food for $10. More importantly, it was delicious. Had a wonderful experience tonight during our first visit here. We were greeted warmly by the owner almost immediately and all of the servers were extremely friendly and helpful. The owner continued to check in throughout the meal with our table and all other diners. We started with iced Thai coffees, chicken satay with peanut sauce and fresh spring rolls. We thoroughly enjoyed our entrees, including beef ramen, pad see ew with seafood, and panang curry with chicken. Ended with wonderful sticky rice with mango. Overall, just a fantastic experience. I adore this little place. We started coming here for the ramen and, on occasion, have ordered Thai food, too. Let's start with the staff -- it's impossible to not feel welcomed here. The staff are warm and friendly, especially the owner who makes a point of checking in and asking people how their meal is while also thanking them for coming to the restaurant. He's attentive to the customers beyond anything I've experienced, once comping us an appetizer because he saw that we waited for our entrees for a longer than normal period of time (we weren't bothered by it at all). The food is excellent. We often do the Thai special, which includes an appetizer and two entrees. It's a nice way for my husband and I to explore the menu. We've had some great food -- I love the paid thai with tofu. I would skip the chicken satay, only because there are much better options on the appetizer menu, including the crab rangoon. Wow! What a great Thai restaurant with great food, home ambiance, impeccable service, and reasonable prices! The food was flavorful, fresh, and plentiful! Just the right amount of spice and the portions are more than enough to satisfy even the hungriest of appetites. What really impressed me, was how friendly the staff was, given how absolutely busy they were on Friday night. Our carryout order was taking a little bit longer, and several staff members came by to offer a complementary bottle of water, and a friendly conversation while we waited. This is not something that many restaurants do out there, and Jimmy Thai definitely stood out to us with this extra touch of customer service! The staff were quickly seating people at their tables, and zooming in and out with people's orders! Everyone who we saw had a smile on their face, and all the diners who were finished with their meals, left with smiles on their face. I saw one of the staff members even hugging one of the diners, and it looks like they have known each other for years! This is what it is all about! It warms my heart that knowing that there are still great restaurants out there that are reasonably priced while producing delicious food, and are in turn supported by their community. Came here for Friday lunch with 4 people, and Jimmy greeted us when we walked in. We got a table right away. It was on the quieter side that afternoon, which was nice since we could hear each other talking. We ordered 3 lunch specials for the 4 of us, with all 3 appetizers. There was crab rangoon, fried potstickers, and egg rolls. They were all on the small side. Crab rangoon was mostly cream cheese. Fried potstickers were well seasoned. Nothing to complain about with the egg rolls. 1. Basil Fried Rice with chicken: Well seasoned, potentially a little salty for those who are more sensitive. We loved the basil -- the flavor came out really well. The chicken was juicy, but nothing jaw dropping. 2. Pad See Ew with beef: As expected, with what seemed like nice wok hei. Not super oily, which is my usual critique of other Thai places. Beef was just a tad tough. 3. Pad Thai with chicken: As expected, although missing the acidity of lime that other places usually put. This is not a new place and taking that many orders without increasing the wait time for pick up is terrible. When the nice guy finally delivered my food after bringing order after order out around me , he was very apologetic. I felt that they should have at least offered a Thai coffee or something but nada. I'll have to think about it very hard before I wait 50 minutes in my car ever again. Too bad as the food is decent. I didn't really get how it worked, but the hostess/cashier up front was super friendly and helpful. I got to order chicken pad Thai, a drink, and an appetizer for around $11. Pretty decent meal with a good serving size, so much so that I was able to bring some leftovers home. I placed a pick up order and it was ready within the designated time (~30 minutes). I had the khao soy and hubby had a chicken pad Thai. The curry broth from the khao soy was decent but I wish it came with more noodles. Hubby also enjoyed his pad Thai and had no complaints. The one big thing that irked us a little was that we ordered a Thai iced tea and I asked for no ice in the comments since I didn't want it to get watered down from the drive home. However, I later got an email stating that the price of the item was increased by $1 because I asked for no ice. $1 isn't really that big of a deal but nowhere on the menu did it state that there would be an upcharge for asking for no ice. AMAZING take out spot for all things Thai food. Prices are incredible for the portions and their no-contact pick up service is top notch. To pick up your order you just need to pull up to the nice man standing outside the restaurant and he will run in and grab your food and put it in your car. This service is still going on 1 year into the pandemic, I can't say the same about other places I've done takeout from. Everything I've tried on the menu is so good. During these hard pressed times we as a community need to support small businesses. I drove passed Jimmy Thai many times on the way to Liquid Fusion and was curious to try their place. I am so mad at myself for not trying Jimmy Thai much sooner! Despite some of the sub par or negative reviews I give kudos to this place for continuing to use fresh ingredients, having so many great promotions and rewards for spending a certain amount of money and just the great and appreciative customer service. One of the downsides of living in the suburbs is feeling like there's not enough Asian cuisine options and especially ones that taste good. BUT, I am happy to say Deerfield had an amazing Thai place hidden in this plaza next to the DMV! We ordered the pad Thai with shrimp, crab rangoon, ground pork with basil and a small Tom yum soup with shrimp. With all this food we even met the requirements to redeem a free chicken fried rice which was also a large size, say what??! Jimmy's pad thai was the most flavorful I've had from the suburbs and I'll also add that all the dishes we ordered were flavorful. Having this meal brought me back to our vacation in Thailand. But what made the food taste even better was the warm kind wishes from the owner himself and his appreciation for the business. Let's keep supporting the gems in our town! The spice and freshness of the curries were great, and the pad see ew was well seasoned and cooked well. Some pieces of beef were a bit chewy, but not terrible. I liked all the bamboo shoots in the green curry. It was nice to have a balance of curries and a noodle dish because the curries were light and the pad see ew is a little heavier.
