fantastic place. They catered an event for our group and it could not have been better. Food is amazing, staff was wonderful and the huge smoker out in front of the house added perfect atmosphere. If you like authentic type BBQ and large portions, you'll like this place. It's very casual with family style seating, so be prepared to sit with strangers when it's packed. Still the brisket is great, and unless you have a monster appetite you'll be bringing some home. read more

Decent bbq but too expensive. $7-8 for a pulled pork sandwich is robbery. Maybe i'm used to the south where award winners like Big Bob Gibson's in Decatur, AL give you top of the line great tasting pulled pork at a fraction of the cost. Mainline is mainline i guess. read more

Just plain. Left me wanting better... Ribs were dry and tough. Pulled pork is served dry which is fine but there's just not much flavor to it. Brisket was the only redeeming thing. Have been here several times over the last few years and it feels like the food is not as good as it used to be. read more

I have gone here twice. First time was on a Friday and it was delicious everything was perfect and tasted great. It all tasted fresh and the flavor was amazing. The second time I went it was like I visited a completely different place. Everything was dried out and bland tasting. It was really disappointing. If you are willing to take a chance I would still recommend this place since there are not many options in the area. I will be going back and hope I get the same experience I did the first time. read more

We enjoyed Jimmy's barbecue for takeout on Fathers day. The package deals they offer are fantastic. For $42 we had beef brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs, cornbread and 4 sides. The food is delicious, particularly the brisket and the ribs. I would definitely recommend Jimmys. read more

If you happen to be at an event catered by Jimmy's BBQ then it is amazing. The rub on the ribs is best even if the meat is slightly dry. One time that I had the pulled pork it had some slightly charred bits and other parts that were a little rare, which I thought was delicious (though other people might be turned off by that). Pulled pork has not much flavor on its own though, so that is where you have to liberally apply the sauce. My favorite thing has to be the chicken drumstick, I would skip the pulled pork and just stick with that actually. Now, if you are going to pick up some take-out in the dead of summer be prepared for a room full of steamy sweaty bodies and long wait times. Jimmy's is doing their part to save the planet with their lack of AC! If you are looking for the best deal on the menu, go for the chicken wings. read more

I found this place to be very good. The brisket sandwich was really nice and stuffed. Add some sauce and that's a dinner. Ribs, very good. On the bone the way I like to eat them, nice and smoky too. Amazing little known item- order the bbq bacon. Wow! Unique. Not a lot of atmosphere here, but it is nice to have a dedicated pit master so close. read more

Just tried a few more items and they were spot on. Smoked whole chicken wings and the combination of chicken thigh & leg. Delicious.

AMAZING....they catered a party for us....and i can not say enough about how awesome EVERYTHING was...service, food, atmosphere!...Thanks Jimmy's! They were here when they said they would be...the food was absolutely awesome (our guests are still commenting on how good the food was)...the caterer was so helpful and polite. They brought all the plates and utensils!...and packed up any leftovers for us!...We had the pulled pork and chicken, dirty corn, smoked beans and corn bread! Everything was great! Beef brisket sandwich was dry and the sauce came with (on the side) was not helpful. I prefer a carolina (vinegar) sauce not a smokey thick style but wound up dipping beef into it...since roll was hard to manage. You have to pay extra for sides. I think 2.50 for potato salad is outrageous so I didn't go for anything. $8.50 for brisket is high enough. The "slaw" came in a tiny container was warm (from the sandwich being next to it) so I didn't attempt. They should offer a small side that works better being placed next to the sandwich. There was nobody in there on a Sat aftn...is that a tell-tale sign or what? read more

We just visited here for the first time tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a great time! I called ahead to let them know we had a large party coming in. They were so accommodating and Jimmy himself greeted us when we walked in the door. We ordered the ribs, beef brisket, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread. The portions are huge! We were so full at the end. We also tried the smoked bacon which was delicious. We will definitely be back! read more

Sold out of popular sides. Open until 8 pm you would think they would be better prepared. Cole slaw and potato salad both tasted like they had gone bad. Pulled chicken was tolerable but needed the help of their BBQ sauce. All in all not worth the drive just for BBQ sauce. read more

I was in Malvern on business and looking for something quick other than fast food to take back to my hotel room. I did a quick search on yelp for barbecue in the Malvern are and found Jimmy's. I went in for the ribs but they were sold out. I definitely understand that barbecue is something that you have to plan and cook well ahead and unexpected spikes in business can mean you run out unexpectedly. I was disappointed they didn't have ribs and so I asked the manager what else he recommended. He recommended the brisket and offered me a taste. The brisket had a great taste and was not at all dry. I ordered a combination plate of pork and brisket with sides of mashed potatoes and barbecue beans. The brisket and pulled pork were very good. I could do without the seasoned salt sprinkled on top and would ask for it on the side or left off next time. The mashed sweet potatoes were awesome and I will definitely have those next time. The beans were OK but not great. I mixed some of my pork in them and they were much better. The cornbread had good taste and wasn't dry like it can be at many restaurants. I definitely recommend Jimmy's and will return next time I am in town. Hopefully I will be able to try the ribs next visit! read more

When we got there we were informed that there was no chicken or coleslaw. The air conditioning was broken and it was very hot. They didn't have the normal buns for the pulled pork sandwich substituting small buns. When we went to wash her hands there was no soap. My husband is a huge BBQ fan and since I work near Jimmy's I ventured out one day during lunch to provide a report back to my hubby. As everyone has mentioned this place is not much to look at from the outside but I can surely get by that if there is good food inside. I ordered the two meat combo so that I could try both the pork and beef brisket. I selected corn bread and coleslaw as my two sides. My bill was $17 (with a soda) but again I'm willing to part with money if the food is worthy. My first impressions were not good as I sat down to wait and was joined by many flies including one of the largest flies I have ever seen as well as a dead moth on the windowsill. I noticed the front door was being left open and inquired whether maybe the AC was broken. I was told that the AC was on but with the smoker it just can't keep up. It was uncomfortably warm. When I got my food I thought the meat was moist however not very flavorful when eaten without the sauce. That takes me to the sauce. There were three choices : vinegar based, regular and hot. I am usually a medium kind of gal so I tried the regular sauce which in my opinion tasted mostly like Molasses. The coleslaw was very densely cut and I didn't care for it. I normally like a sweeter coleslaw and this one was watered down. I also wasn't impressed with the cornbread other than that it was very dense so was quite filling. After leaving and sharing with my husband that this was not a place to take him to I had a sinking feeling in my stomach all afternoon. I actually had some stomach discomfort through the next day which only got worse when I checked the Chester County Health Inspections website to find that during Jimmy's February 2010 inspection he had 7 violations. The violations included cleanliness in the food prep area and presence of both insects and rodents. I do not recommend Jimmy's and am actually quite surprised that so many do. read more

Love Jimmy's BBQ. Food is yummy and the staff is very friendly especially the owner Jimmy. You can literally taste the love he has for great bbq in every bite. Only wish we lived closer. I used to live in Texas, so I know bbq. This is the best I've had since I left Houston. Ribs are meaty with a great dry rub. Sauces are excellent. Brisket is thick, the way they serve in Texas and the pulled pork is nice and honest. Try the smoked bacon and sausage starters and the dirty corn. No hoakum, no corny decorations, just bbq. Memphis Q at it's best. No babybacks here - big old slab ribs cooked to perfection, but my favorite is the pulled pork. I do it up in a sandwich with sauce and coleslaw and it's perfect. I have an 18 year old who downs a full slab of ribs everytime we go back and an 11 year old who raves about the cornbread. My favorite side has to be the mac and cheese the way my mom used to make it. This is a definite winner! read more

Highly recommended! We ordered delivery (via cuisine to go) for the parade. Got family pack #1 and it was perfect for the 4 of us girls. I just finished the leftovers for lunch today and let me tell you. that meat was still just as tender and perfect as it was when it arrived. The best BBQ I've ever had! The owner & staff are always very pleasant and the food quality & taste is always consistent! I usually get the 3 meat platter, Pork, Chicken and Sausage, Mac & Cheese or cornbread and collard green that have just the perfect bite to them.
