I stopped in w/ a friend one evening to catch up - my first time there, but my friend was pretty familiar with this spot, as he grew up in the area and had gone a bunch of times over the years. In fact, he said that he recognized a few of the staff there from the many times he'd been there before, though he hadn't been there in more recent years. Nice to have that history, and it's a charming spot - not modern like Sly Fox also in town, but I really appreciate the dive vibes! Each of us ordered a beer (I ordered an Icelandic one, which was quite nice), pretty great price on beer IMO, and the food was on point as well. I ordered chicken wings with buffalo sauce, and they tasted great! Service was pretty great - our server was attentive and swung by a good amount of times to check on us, as we sat in the corner to try to have a little less noise vs being right by the bar. One of the most toxic staffs imaginable. A few of them are nice people (or nice at times), but they treat it like their own private club. They drink with their friends and ignore others. They close whenever they feel like it. The main bartender, Liz, is frequently drunk, rarely gives the correct change (maybe she's just pocketing it and hoping people won't notice), and snaps at regulars. Apparently she's tight with the owner, because he defends her at all costs, even telling locals she arbitrarily dislikes to go elsewhere. I witnessed another bartender who spontaneously broke out in a dance routine and sang, "SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY" to a customer. It wasn't an inside joke, nor an isolated incident for her. Mike Troupe gets his jollies power-tripping and kicking people out for things as silly as recommending that they update the chalkboard when they run out of a beer. Then there's the owner, Steve Iacobucci. He's the captain of this clown show. Just read the reviews here and elsewhere, and ask yourself, "if a bartender or server treated a customer like that, why are they STILL working there?" Because they follow Steve's lead. read more

A fun place in Malvern. Went here on a Saturday night, it was pretty busy. It definitely feels like more of a bar than a restaurant but they have plenty of tables and a pretty sizable food menu. We stopped in for a very quick bite while we waited on the next train. Service was so fast and friendly! We didn't stop to take pics, the the prices are good and the portions are HUGE! We tried the tuna club with fries, potato skins, and pulled pork quesadilla. The tuna club was a little dry, but didn't skimp on the lettuce, tomatoes, bacon or tuna. If I got it again I'd ask for extra mayo, onions, and maybe mustard (but that's just how I like my tuna sandwich). The potato skins seemed like half a potato each and came with 8 very large skins....covered in tons of cheese and bacon and served with sour cream. The quesadilla was cooked very well with the tortilla nice and crispy. The pork was very tender and flavorful; comes with sour cream, salsa, and shredded lettuce. It's a very quick 5 minute walk from the train station and was very relaxed. Plenty of TVs to watch sports and a digital jukebox. It was pretty busy inside and everyone seemed to be having a great time! There were also a couple of tables outside to the left, but didn't look to be in use (not even sure if they were theirs or another business). I don't drink but if you're a drinker you'd likely find something you liked as the choices were abundant. I got the Barnyard sandwich and the food was excellent. I think the fries were my favorite (I combined the spicy fries and the cheese fries on the menu). It's a pretty neat bar. I loved the decor -- there are flying pigs everywhere. There's a large drink selection. Plenty of beer options, but others as well (like cider). This is a good place to grab a drink, but I'd probably go elsewhere for food. Well of course pigs can't fly! But that's why they have The Flying Pig Saloon! This is a quintessential dive bar with lots of locals and regulars; a killer beer list, and good food for cheap prices. With the name Flying Pig, anything Pig related is where it's at. The pork sand is a favorite and you can get different styles (peppas & prov is the best IMO). The pork belly app looked amaze too; we went with calamari instead of that but definitely next time; we're getting that belly. The beers range from wheats to dark IPAs to stouts to pale ales. The Sam Smith stout (bottle) is a tasty and rare one. It's much better than the music artist himself cause I know I'm not the only one... who feels that way! It may look crowded when you walk in as there's the bar and a small dining area next to it but we had plenty of room to maneuver and our server didn't leave us behind. Turns out she's been there for several years and it's the longest tenure she's had at one place. I can salute that easily. I've visited here twice, both times for dinner around 6:00 PM on the weekend. The place is a neighborhood pub, and the decor is inviting. The staff are friendly, but can sometimes be a little scarce (For context, I am writing this during the COVID-19 labor shortage). Our orders were taken fairly quickly, and we did not wait too long for our food. My experience so far has been that while some food items are merely "OK", others (especially hot sandwiches) are very good. There is also a vast beer selection. I enjoyed both of my visits, and will gladly return. My one caution is that this place can get loud when it fills up, but I did begin this review by saying that it is a neighborhood pub. read more

This a super fun dive bar situation in what appears to be an adorable town in PA. I chose this place as a halfway meeting point with friends based on the Yelp reviews. It's a great place to go for drinks with friends and they also happen to have fairly decent food to keep you from getting too drunk too quickly. The place was packed on a Wednesday night in December. It's was very dimly lit but festive with string lights hung all around. If you are a beer lover, this is your spot. Whatever your feeling like that night, I'm sure they have it, either on tap, in a bottle or in a can! They also have a full bar and fun mixed drink specials. You can seat yourself and the staff just rotates around, helping out wherever needed. The food was good. The spinach dip had good flavor but also an odd texture - almost like spinach baby food mixed with cheese. The Prime Example sandwhich was very tasty. I just wish they put a little more horseradish cheddar on it. I'll keep this place on my list for when I want to meet up with friends for drinks again. read more

Brooke was our waitress and the place was packed but she was an excellent server and so friendly and welcoming. Such a bright spot in this hit or miss economy. A friend recommended the Flying Pig Saloon to me, and after holding a happy hour there, it was obvious why she did. The Saloon is a comfortable semi-divey bar, with a fun corner with couches, and dining room seating. True to their name, there are piggies EVERYWHERE, of every kind: posters, ceramic ones, paper ones, flying ones, sitting ones. This place has more character than you can shake a pig at. Our friendly, primary server (Carol) managed to handle our fairly large group (about 15 folks; most of the time). Assorted staff also served us, though one waitress seemed pretty bitchy. Bartender Mike was on the ball, making us cherry kamikazes. (Drinking enthusiasts, be sure to check out their extensive beer selection.) At one point, someone knocked down a lamp. Fred, one of the owners, came over to make sure everything was okay - what a cool guy! Yes, there are some potentially breakable items inside, but the Saloon is generally drunk-friendly[1]. Besides our group, there was a healthy crowd for a Thursday. (Yes, people were smoking, but ventilation was pretty good.)
