So, First impression was, they have nice shaded waiting area / patio. It took me a minute to determine the main door. Once I found that, I waited a moment while someone else checked in. I was shocked to be told only 15- 20 minute wait. Husbabd found a nice parking spot in a packed parking lot. Our usual restaurant was closed, and we decided to try something new.b Food was delicious. Full of flavor and red and green ch8le sauce had a slight kick. I chose the Breakfast Enchiladas asked about types of beef available and Ground Beef & shredded was available. Sold. Shredded please! I asked for Christmas Mixed, received regular Christmas. It was not worth it today to ask for more Chile to make it mixed. The flavor was very nice. Tender & succulent Shredded beef. Dan ordered, Ultimate Skillet w tortilla and an onion rings app. The onion is rings were typical, get at any bar onion rings... not bad, just not real remarkable. The skillet was good, but with the rings, too much grease. The Homefries were good, just greasy. - and if you have read my posts before, we often pick our restaurants based on oil used, and how greasy it is... as Dan's tummy is touchy to it. The type of oil was fine, the quality was too much. I personally think had he not ordered the onion rings ... it would of been fine.. but not my choice ;). Let me preface that I'm usually not a huge sandwich or American food perso., so I don't usually go out of my way to diners, American fare restaurants at all. But..I was at an event where the place catered lunch from Jimmy's. Initially, I wasn't so excited seeing all the assorted meats croissants sandwiches..you know..ham, turkey and roastbeef slices, etc. I nonchalantly picked chicken salad croissant sandwich because I would never order it..and frankly...chicken salad in my mind just wasn't nevermore choice at all because u thought of the dry shredded chicken with mayo..mostly! But...omg..I was soo pleasantly surprised how good Jimmy's chicken salad croissant sandwich was. Notably, the salad was moist..and very well seasoned..a lil of sweetness in it. I loved it so much that I found myself grabbing a second one!! And that never really happened to me especially anything to do with sandwiches! Now I found something I really love. What a cute simple breakfast and lunch spot! I loooove all the different Jim and Jimmy's all over the walls! I ordered the southwest eggs benedict and boy they load you up with chile and it is hot! Make sure you are mentally prepared for the heat- I was not! The hollandaise sauce was rich and delicious! My boyfriend got the French dip which was fabulous. I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon and green chile, it was delicious! The only thing I would say is ask your server which chile is hotter that day because the green certainly had a kick but delicious nonetheless! The green chile was some of the best I have had, with a great kick that leaves you breathing thru ur mouth just a lil bit. Great portion size, and came with tortillas and beans. Order came super fast and hot, packaged well in a sturdy bag w silverware. Will definitely be ordering from here again (and again) during this visit to ABQ! It was great! I am from out of town and a huge part of travel for me is trying the local food. The Huevos Rancheros was fantastic! The green chili has a slight kick and everything else tasted great. The decor/theme was interesting. Considering being in Albuquerque, not being able to find a reference to "Slippin Jimmy" (from Better Call Saul), was a bit disappointing. First time at Jimmy's Cafe. They serve a lot of people and have a nice menu featuring breakfast classics as well as New Mexican staples, sandwiches, and burgers. The prices are reasonable too. My guests rated their skillets and cheesesteaks as an 8/10. My chicken skillet was more like a 5/10. Our main issue was that it took almost an hour for our food to arrive. I know they were very busy but this was breakfast basics(eggs, potatoes, toast) and a cheesesteak. Our server took our order in a timely manner, refilled drinks, etc but was noticeably absent while we waited for almost an hour. She stopped by once to say our food would be out soon and then we waited another 25 minutes. I'm going to give Jimmy's Cafe another try in the future but right now I'll only give it a 3/5 review. After discussing the many options we ordered. My husband went with the breakfast burrito. I order the green Chile chicken skillet. Let me tell you with absolute delight I loved my meal. The Chile was perfectly spicy and the chicken melted in my mouth. It was an amazing balance of flavors. We both got plenty to eat and enjoyed the left overs. Large groups of families are here. The place is pretty big to accommodate large groups as well as a busy breakfast morning. The menu is a bit extensive, which usually worries me because to me a large menu typically means lower quality. Not here. I couldn't decide what I wanted because I wanted about 3 things from the menu. I ordered the Breakfast Combo with a side of red/green Chile that I ended up smothering everything in. Both red and green chiles were good. Pancakes were alright. I chose sausage patties as my meat and I do not regret it. Breakfast places typically cheap out on their breakfast sausages by buying those thin chewy nasty sausage frozen patties from the store, but not Jimmy's. These sausage patties were legit. Thanks for not making me regret my decision lol Overall, the food was good. I'd for sure come back. Service was excellent. We had this young girl and she was hustling. She was running from table to table checking on everything. She was incredible. If you're coming with a large group be prepared to wait, especially on the weekend. Plenty of parking in the lot! Excellent breakfast! I had the Stephen breakfast that was a generous portion of hash browns, two eggs prepared perfectly as ordered, green chili and toast. The hash browns had a little cheese to make it perfect and the green chili gave it a nice little kick. The plate was served hot so that added to the satisfaction. When you step into the interior of this place you'll see hundreds of celebrity pictures on the walls many of which are autographed. I should point out, they do offer daily lunch specials. We started off with a couple of coffees for breakfast and I was somewhat disappointed in the fact they use these creamer pods and they had no natural or tubinado sugar. The coffee was good, it just wasn't great and not up to the level of Starbucks, but for the price, you really can't complain. We both ordered the $14 pancake sampler which was truly a five star experience, with one exception. The pancakes come with artificial pancake syrup and they do not offer real maple syrup as an option. Butter is the other choice. I'd gladly pay a couple dollars for the maple syrup option, especially since the pancakes are made so well. With that said, the food, the service and the prices are the perfect restaurant trifecta which keeps people coming back. Definitely a place I'd come back to. What a great brunch spot! Would highly recommend! We were on a high from going on a hot air balloon earlier in the morning and we wanted something very filling to bring us back down to earth. Lol! Our hot air balloon pilot recommended Jimmy's and we couldn't be happier. We were a little concerned when we drove up because there was a long line out the door and we needed to head to the airport in a couple of hours. We let the host know and since there was only two of us, they were able to squeeze us in. We ordered the two eggs and Angus beef patty with green salsa and the Breakfast Combo. Our eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was crispy. My hamburger patty was tender and the green chile sauce was flavorful and had the perfect level of heat. The hashbrowns were good, but I would have preferred them fried a little longer to crisp them up. The pancakes are massive... they are the size of the entire plate!!! Service is fast and friendly and the food is great. It's your typical diner fare: you get a lot of food for the price! Needless to say we left with out bellies full and a big smile on our face. What I love about the service is they think ahead. They don't just serve 1 cup of coffee at a time, they serve your cup with a full pitcher. Additionally, you don't have to ask for condiments like jelly, as they are already set at the table. Don't be fooled by this cafe style restaurant. They are accustomed to the NM taste buds. No wait. We each had basic breakfasts. My husband had Jimmy's, I had the two egg and added fruit. It came out FAST! Coffee was good, standard flavor. Breakfast was good, solid. Bacon was limp, however, we both like crispy. The fruit cup was excellent! Service was VERY quick, prompt. We wouldn't rush back, but it's worth a visit sometime in the future.
