We were heading to the zoo and wanted to grab a sandwich to eat while we were there. The staff was nice and ask if we had been, when saying we hadn't, they explained the menu. We split the roast beef torpedo. I like that they list the free add ons. They also have banana peppers even though they aren't listed. It was a good sandwich that hit the spot, but not very memorable and would rather get a bahn mi if going out to get a sando. Also the pickle wasn't great, kinda soggy.. They also have ice cream. Want a different kind of sandwich? Here ya go. Yup there's plenty of Beatles memorabilia. What would you expect with a name like this? Besides a simple sandwich menu you don't have to settle for chips. We had the waffle fries. For sandwiches I had the meatballs - tasty with a flavorful sauce. The wife had Steak & Grilled Onions - nice flavor, tender meat filling & the onions tasted sweet. They carried Blue Bell Ice Cream - our favorite. Just right for a scoop, a shake or something rarely seen anymore a malt. None for us today. The sandwiches filled us up. Talked with the manager about the 6' sandwich in the case. He showed a video of the making of 2 - 10' subs. Each was made on a single roll made from their oven capable of making 10' long buns - impressive. read more

Business was sold, food has changed, and it is not good anymore. Wouldn't call this a mom and pop anymore. New owners are all about $$$ Prices have more than doubled in just year. Owner wants to go back to my last update, but that's not the last time I was there. She uses excuses like the economy, which is ridiculous. Stop making excuses and call it what it is. Hankering for some great submarine sandwiches? Look no further than right here in central New Mexico. The Yeller Sub Restaurant has been pleasing customers for 46 years - that makes the restaurant older than most everyone who works there, but not quite as old as Jim Tritten's mustache. Great food. We loved the the Seasoned Cross-cut Fries!! They are jack in da box curly fry seasoning meets Chick-fil-a waffle fries. So damn good that we came back the same day to order the bucket version of the fries. Had a Steak & Grilled Onions sub, meat had a great texture, cheese pull was great, and the onions upped the favor profile. Wish the steak was seasoned more but regardless still a solid sub. Atmosphere was great, Beatles themed old school cafe actually works great with the old school love inputted into the food. The individual that rang us up was interactive and was patient as it was our first time. Which resulted in having to seek recommendations to place an order. read more

I sometimes visit your sub shop on Montgomery Blvd. Until yesterday I was satisfied with the quality of the sandwiches. However, Yesterday I ordered my usual half Yeller Sub to go. When I got home (5 minute drive) I was disappointed. The submarine roll was stale. So stale that when I bit into it, the crust crumbled. I don't know how long a submarine roll must be left out for it to dry so, but it must have been hours, many hours. Now I will stop and consider where I will eat the next time I want a quick meal. If all you order is bread, you're in for a treat. Crusty on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside. Their bread has all the deliciousness you'd expect from bread made in house. It's so yummy I always tell myself I'm going to order a loaf to dip in olive oil and spices. You can get just about any sub that other places offer, but the one I haven't seen anywhere else is the hamburger sub (my 9yo's favorite). A half sub comes with 2 small patties, cheese, and all the toppings you want. The kids meal is a steal! A 4" ham or turkey sub (or a grilled cheese) with fries and a drink for $6 (as of 1/2026). The fries always come out golden and not soggy. We always get the criss cross (seasoned) fries with cheese sauce. The cheese sauce isn't anything special--it's the stuff that comes out of a can, but it's cheese and it's yummy. Food always comes out quickly and the staff is always friendly. The dining area is always clean--someone's always coming by to bus tables or take empty baskets from tables. Decor is an homage to The Beatles' Yellow Submarine (obviously), so be prepared to explain Beatle Mania to your kids. read more

Driving through town and wanted a Sandwich. Looked up this place and decided to give it a try. Been around I think since the 70's so figured it would be good ..... and it was. Big sandwiches with almost any type of sandwich you'd like. Lots of toppings. They also serve French fries, ice cream and shakes. The staff was great . Friendly and helpful. My wife and I stopped by yesterday while we were waiting on her phone repair. This definitely our new favorite sandwich spot. I did t realize they'd have hot subs, my preference, and they are amazing. The turkey had so much flavor if tasted like turkey you'd get at a bbq restaurant and the Poseidon (basically a Philly) was my personal favorite. The bread is also amazing. On this visit, Hubby wanted a hoagie and I just wanted to try a new place (other than our usual choices). The first thing that caught my attention was the front of store. From the parking lot, I could see the yellow sign and the fun logo. The color yellow was featured throughout the restaurant and they were even playing the Beatles when we came! The sandwich I ordered had run out of ingredients, and the manager apologetically came to me and helped me choose a meatball sub (first taste in years). I thoroughly enjoyed it! You gotta try the fish! This cute little sub shop has everything you possibly need & more. I got to meet the new owner who suggested I try the tuna & I'm glad I did. Everyone was friendly & helpful. Everything was great I add large chips they make in house (which I ended up taking most home so many) I also got a side of macaroni salad which was also great. You do have to put in code for the bathroom which was long but the bathroom was very clean. read more

After decades of being a GREAT sandwich shop there is a new owner and new staff. Didn't think it would be better than when Mark & Rosie were there but it is. Subtle improvement are appreciated. EDIT 5/13/25 Well how things have changed... for the worse. Counter staff is always polite and professional. Prices have gone up a LOT. Last three times there the food was poorly prepared. Sandwiches were thrown together like the cooks, and that is being polite, don't care. Sandwiches are meant to be eaten with one hand or two not with a knife, fork, and spoon. The owners should pay more attention to what is going on in their kitchen than their ratings in a local magazine. @ $17 for a large sandwich that falls apart in the basket... The Yeller Sub is located right off of Menaul and somewhere I've driven by for years but never tried until recently when I had a strong craving for a sub. I had to check out the recommendations on Yelp and the overall consensus was go try The Yeller Sub. I want to start off with saying that the full sized sub is huge.. One whole sub is a good serving for two people and the homemade chips are stellar. I ordered the turkey sub and it was very good, lots of meat and the bread it good. I did note other reviews mentioning not to order toasted and so I got mine cold which is honestly what I wanted anyways. This is a super solid option for a sub in Albuquerque. They also have ice cream and of course the chips are fantastic! Service was pretty fast. read more

Seriously so delicious! My husband, 3 kids, and I loved the subs! Over the years the Food is always been fantastic, french fries very yummy, cheese sauce for dipping the fries tasty and I can never forget anytime I get a chocolate shake it's good. We slice all our meats, cheeses and fresh produce fresh daily (In-store) not at a commissary. Established in 1979.

The Yeller Sub opened in December 1979. The original owner/operator Mark Roerick started the shop as a teenager straight out of high school. His love of good food as well as his desire to serve his community kept the business going for 42 amazing years! Our culture is classic and we love honing in on the nostalgia of yesteryear. After over four decades of building relationships within our community through amazing sandwiches the original owner decided to pass the torch to a local and motivated team dedicated to keep the legend of the Yeller Sub alive! Meet the Manager: Cheyanne B.

Cheyanne is the current operator for Owners Larry Chavez and Joyce Hitchner, the previous owner/creators of Dreamstyle Remodeling. The two first became regulars at Yeller Sub because of the amazing sandwiches but fell in love with the nostalgic atmosphere, history and friendly staff. That first experience was so good that it kept us coming back. Yet, Every. Single. Time. We went back we had issues. Some of the issues we've experienced included: losing our order, waiting over an hour for our food, attitudes on the phone, and outdated information on their website. When they lost our ticket order we waited (not exaggerating) OVER an hour for our food. They didnt even apologize lol I'm not looking for a comp on food, but damn not even an apology? We waited there, in person, at the restaurant. Another time I called to order a muffaletta. The girl on the phone had no idea what I was talking about. Then she said there's no such thing on the menu that sounds like that. I get put on hold. I wait for 6 minutes then someone else answers the phone and says it's not the day of the special (they changed it). I call to order a sub. They no longer make subs past a certain time, but that's not updated on the menu on their website. We call and at times no one answers the phone. So we have to call a few more times to only have the phone answered by an exasperated employee. I can't keep up with Sergio's. Sergio's has left us in the dust lol I truly wanted to love this place. The food is good, the prices great, and the first time we went was so fantastic that we held onto that experience despite all the issues that kept happening afterwards. Wings are decent size and cooked right. The fries though- damn good fries. Pizza- we hit a rush and something went wrong. Not sure if ours was slipped or given away BUT the cashier/waitress figured it out before we did, tried to make it right with us while we were waiting for the pizza to be re-made. Yeah, it was a long wait, but again- the food is amazing and they caught their own mistake, and did their best to make good. That's a sign of a great place in my book. I also got a dessert togo for later. I'm not going to say which one so it's not sold out every time I go- but the desserts are delicious.

The fruit tea was great, although I question the practicality of the canister it was served in. Instead of a plastic cup with a straw/no straw, it was in a plastic can that you can open like a soda can on top. I disliked how I couldn't reseal it or reuse it. If I wanted to recycle it, I'd have to put effort taking out the lemon wedges, which I did in order to. So, if I had the choice, I wouldn't get those cans. Everything costed about $20 before tip. I think in the future, I'll ask if I can get extra meat and veggies to make the Banh Mi feel more full. The place was also very bright and clean. I liked the atmosphere where there's plenty of seating. They also have every table with soup utensils and condiments bc they also serve pho.
