Maybe it was a bad day, but I was not impressed! Firstly the place is too small. Everyone is packed in like sardines. Place surely needs a makeover. Secondly, the biscuits in my biscuits and gravy were burnt! My bacon was just some pre microwaved bacon you buy in the freezer section. Breakfast is hard to mess up in my opinion. But they did it. I'm writing this on behalf of the Valparaiso Men's Swim Team. We have love this place for generations and Jimmy's will always have a special place in our hearts. Every year for 4 years, we have hellish morning and afternoon practices while other students are on winter break. This place was our oasis to energize us back up with homely breakfast food. Jimmy's is just the sort of diner I love to go to on a Sunday morning after a rough weekend. Friendly staff and a bunch of food cooked in butter. Yeah, that's right...butter. No canola oil nonsense here, they know what tastes good and man do they do it up. I had two eggs over medium and hash browns, and all were cooked perfectly. Let me once again note - in butter! MMMmmmmm........ As other reviewers have noted, they only take cash here, so keep that in mind. I tend to live in a cashless world, so it's good to know to come prepared. read more

I ordered french toast and it was good, but some pieces were soggy like they hadn't cooked all the way through. Over all ok for the money you'll spend. Breakfast & Lunch fast!! In and out in 25 minutes or less with excellent food! Lemon Rice soup is the best in the area. Been there 50-75 times at least and never had a bad meal. Very reasonably priced!! Owners are extremely nice and care about their patrons! read more

Best hometown breakfast place you can find. Maybe I'm biased because I grew up going to Jimmy's almost every weekend. My parents still frequent it at least a couple times a month and my husband and I go when we are in town (we live in Indy now). Jimmy's feels like home though and I think anyone coming from out of town would feel the same as well. Great story of a hard-working family living out a dream day in and day out, managing a restuarant and raising a family. Food is great and you'll have it in front of you before you can blink. Best breakfast in town, hands down. Fast polite service. Delicious food for a decent price. The menu is nothing special but what they do have they do really well. The only downside is the dining area is extremely small with tables packed tightly and the bathroom is small as well and right next to the dining area. The coffee is AWFUL and the owner is rude. The menu doesn't say much, so be aware - if you want to make a substitution or add cheese she'll make sure you pay an arm and a leg for it! We've never had such a terrible experience. When the bill came, it was chicken scratch, on the back of the ticket she took our order one. There was no rhyme or reason to it, so we asked for a menu to see if we could make sense of it. Our total came to $20 less than what she was charging us, so we asked if she could help us understand. Big mistake. Wow!! She immediately started yelling, telling us she knows what she's doing and she's been in this business for a very long time, and how DARE we question her! She continued to make a scene and make it known to the restaurant, after we paid and were leaving... that there was a problem! I'm surprised her doors are still open with how poorly she treats her customers. Honestly. PLUS- the food isn't even that great. Save your time- Round the Clock is across the street. read more

Great diner breakfasts, the fastest service I have ever experienced anywhere, and friendly staff make this place our go to for breakfast. They will make sure your hash browns are crispy if you so request. At many places the server will write it down and the potatoes still come out a little limp, not here. read more
