Jimmy's Culpeppers is a hidden gem, upstairs from a sports center. The bar is somewhat dated and dark, but is part of the charm. The owner, Jimmy, is just the nicest guy literally offering to do me favors should I need it within a few minutes of conversation and letting him know I was new to the area. The place has mobster posters everywhere and pizzas named after them - and they're just as much of a hit. Seriously, these are some of the best pizzas you'll find on the North Shore, and you wouldn't know to look here. It's not just the pizza, either. Everything is great here. The Asian wings are incredible and the mozzarella sticks have this batter that can't be found anywhere else. Highly highly recommend. I just wish Jimmy would offer the pizza for delivery rather than having DoorDash or other options ruin the experience. read more

One of the few (no its the only) neighborhood bar/restaurant in North Andover. However it's not really in a neighborhood but above the Willow's racket ball club in an office park just off of Rt 114, (behind Stop & Shop.) The barbecue is good, however the pizza is the best for miles. Homemade pasta doesn't hurt either. Weekly specials. Service can be slow & the prices are no give away. Can be a little quiet here if you go too early & during the week, but it picks up later. Keno, full lottery, darts & plenty of flat screens means fun for all. NINETEEN beers on tap. Dined here again tonight...with our kids (around 5:30pm)....sat right down in a booth. We enjoyed another GREAT meal all around which is why they now get my 5 stars. :) Kids both got kids cheeseburger & ff's...generous portions - served with a drink & a hoodsie! :) Husband & I splurged on the buffalo nachos....AMAZING is all I have to say...they were some of the best nachos we have shared in YEARS!!! A special thank you to our waitress for suggesting them. :) Needless to say my burger went home because I was so stuffed from the nachos...husband ordered a steak sub of some kind & clearly enjoyed it as there wasn't a bite left. This place sucks, and the great beers just don't even save it most of the time. The food is awful and the service is rarely much better. I've been here more than a handful of times, and the only thing that kept us coming back was the beer selection. The owner doesn't staff the place correctly...he never has enough people to properly run everything, so you are constantly waiting for a refill or your food, or just to be asked how the food is. I've tried to rewrite this review a couple of times, but it's just honestly not worth the effort. The beer selection can be good, because the owner does care about that, but the service sucks because the two people manning the bar and all the tables just don't have enough time to do everything. Worst is the fact that the owner's attitude sucks and he thinks his food is so great that he can't and won't hear any constructive criticism. I've had pizzas and sandwiches here before. The pizza crust tastes like it was frozen most of the time and it's way too doughy to be any good...the sauce is too sweet, and it just is never cooked enough. Make the dough a little thinner or get a hotter oven. The sandwiches suck. I've never seen a reuben served with a packet of mustard on the side before I came in this joint. Mainly, go here if you feel like waiting forever to be helped to get a decent beer. Go here if you like crappy food. Go here if you like watching 1 waitress run around with their head cut off while they try and serve everyone. Or just save yourself the effort and try somewhere else that has a 99.9999999% chance of being better than this place-that's what I'm going to do from now on. read more

I used to go there all the time. The food can be a little pricey, but considering how good it is and the quantity, its well worth it. They have darts and a pool table. The table is a little smaller than average, but it's fine. ($1 per game). Jimmy (owner) is a great guy - funny and informative. All in all, it's a great place to eat, drink and watch the game (3 big screen tvs) and maybe play some darts or pool. I try to get over there every now and then, whenever I'm looking to bring a friend (or hopefully a date) out for some drinks and entertainment, but don't want to go to a bar where I can't hear the person next to me talking. read more

These guys have one seriously good pulled pork sandwich! I felt bad for my dad, who offered me a bite his, which I immediately confiscated for myself. I got a mushroom burger which wasn't aweful and my kiddo was kept occupied by what I think must have been Thomas the Train on the bar tele. (yes, we were the only ones there). I'll have to go back for some evening app & beer time. The only real issue I have with this place is gettin in! We were rudely pointed out of the racket club almost upon entry (what, you mean we don't look like tennis players?!?!) and told to go to the outide entrance. I'm hoping we went in the wrong way, because the door we were sent to had no sign that led into a dark staircase and shot us out into what felt like the back of the joint. I've been to this place numerous times.. Somedays the food is good and other days it's terrible. Unfortunately, it's gotten to the point where the food has been bad more times than good. The service is awful... The wait staff is inexperienced. I think they only have one cook because when it is busy you can wait 45 mins for a salad with steak tips. It's nice that the owner mingles with his customers, however he may need to spend more time with his staff. Furthermore, the beverages are good and there is always a new variety of beer. Also for some reason the only music ever playing in there is Kenny chesney... I love country and Kenny but change the music up. Finally, it would be nice if the owner could find time to clean the dirty bathrooms... I wonder how dirty the kitchen is. read more

The real winner here is the wings. They are large, plentiful and pleasingly-seasoned. And they taste damn good cold for leftovers. Although you should prepare yourself in case you are like me and you always hallucinate the word "hot" anytime you see the word "wings". These are *not* hot buffalo wings. I'm not sure what the flavor is for these (yellow with green specs?), but it tastes great with or without hot sauce. Just trust me and get the large. Now for the barbeque, I was not so thrilled. It's pretty good for New England standards, I guess, but didn't wow me. I prefer bbq that can be eaten w/ little to no sauce and this was not it. The pulled pork was pretty good and I am pleased to see from another review that it is apparently offered atop a baked potato? That sounds tasty. Good wings, great beer selection, and good entertainment (overlooks indoor tennis courts). The bar has some nice TVs and a good selection of food. If you have sensitive ears you are best trying somewhere else. I kind of enjoyed hearing the back and forth between the owner and patrons. read more

I mentioned to the bartender that I thought that was a lot of money for for 2 beers and she said I could speak with the owner which I did he "jimmy" proceeded to tell me "if I didn't like it I could leave" and that I was "antagonizing his bartenders" apparently by complaining. I jokingly asked if the $17 price came with free refills I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect from a business owner. Awesome pizza. Great beer. Stellar service. Jimmy was behind the bar and made us out of towners feel right at home. It is located above a raquet club so when not watching one of the many TVs showcasing all the different games, you can watch those practicing down below. The pizza is traditional bar pizza with a bit more crust and awesome fresh ingredients. I had the pulled pork pizza and it was delicious! The draw for me is the beer selection, which is pretty ridiculous for a bar tucked up out of sight over a tennis club. Jimmy has around 20 or so taps and some really diverse selections. Consistency with how they prepare their food is certainly a strength at Jimmy's. I ordered their Deluxe Burger, again. And again, it was incredibly delicious. Perfectly grilled, perfect combination and balance of flavors. Simply, well done (the quality, not the meat. My burger was cooked medium, as requested). I'm giving it 4 stars because the service was slow, which I have found to be another consistency with Jimmy's. It was a Friday night, and they only had 2 people working, one at that bar, the other was the only waitress taking orders and serving. I'm sure there was a third person cooking, but you get my point. You have plenty of beer options from tap to select. If you go here for a first time, just understand that you will be walking into a building you most likely will make you question "Am I in the right place?", as it's in a sports facility on the second floor. But sure enough, those beer signs on the outside should suggest that you are where you should be. read more

I will be first to admit, this is a dive bar. But that's the best part about this place. No Frills, good food, and an excellent beer menu. Jimmy (the owner) is a little crazy, but he has a heart of gold. And he cares about his business that I think is important when it comes to the restaurant industry. If you are looking for a good pizza and good wings, be sure to get here early on the weekends. If you are looking for a 5-star high-class restaurant, please go somewhere else. I loved the food here! It was a busy night and there was only 1 server and she was also the bartender. She was very nice, got our food pretty quickly for the amount of people in the restaurant. I think they needed another server for a more enjoyable experience. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 orders of chicken tenders, which came with 10 tenders/order. More than enough, and they were DELICIOUS! We will definitely be returning. Hopefully they have another server to help with the dinner rush! read more

Visited Jimmy's for the 1st time As I wanted to find a local sports bar that was playing the US Czech hockey game. I asked the owner Jimmy to find it on the TV he was more than willing to accommodate my request. Had the wings they were great. Returned 2 nights later with my son after his hockey game. Best thing about this place was the beer selection, but hold out your wallet because they are pricey. First time there, walking up it seemed shady. The stoop was dark and unwelcoming. Up and down stairs to get in. The service uncaring- even though it seemed that the owner or manager was also present. The wings were ok. Not hot in spicy form but fresh, crispy, and hot. 30 bucks for 2 beers and wings seems a bit much.... Only reason I liked it at all, was the beers on tap. I only found this place because I was looking for Grapefruit Sculpin on tap and this restaurant popped up on beermenus.com. I check out the website, pretty standard bar pub, but they also claim to have Maine Beer Co.'s elusive Another One IPA. OK, I gotta check this place out. 20 minutes later we are sitting in a grimy pub restaurant, with a very young inexperienced waitress that had no idea what beer they had besides Bud. Ordered buffalo wings, not sure what that sauce was, but it was not buffalo, had a sweet taste and the wings were really skimpy and scrawny. We both ordered burgers, medium rare, they came out well done, small and blah frozen patties. BUT, all washed down nicely with an ice cold Another One. Couple across from us got the pizza which looked OK. Since I know that keg of Another One won't last forever, I might have to go back just help them finish it. So go for the awesome beer selection they have on tap, no idea why or how they can support such a selection, but don't go for the food, you will be dissapointed. read more

first time i went here, i was amazed with their burger. it did not make you feel sick or too full after eating it, and it was not dripping with grease. the fries were good too.. good drink selection as well. 2nd time around, i told my family all about it and then when we go there the service was slow and the some of the food came out burnt and didn't seem as good as the first time around...might be a while till i go back there. third time i went back.food was good but service is tooooooo slow! read more

Went there last night for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. I would consider the location to be a main reason why this place isn't as busy as it should be. You have to drive through an office park and end up in a parking lot for willows racquet club. Just a tip, once you walk up the steps to the club, culpepper's is the door on the right. They have a great selection of beers, all fresh and on tap. I had 4 different pints, all were great. We started with the pupu platter which comes with beef teriaki, buffalo wings, bbq wings, ribs, chicken tenders, coconut shrimp and i think that's it. I was very impressed with the ribs, fall off the bone. Everything was great, even the chicken tenders which seemed a bit out of place next to everything else. Then we tried the al pacino pizza. Brickoven pizza at its best! Crisp thin crust and well stacked with sausage and hot cherry peppers and onions. This pizza was incredible, however if you aren't a fan of hot stuff then order the al pacino. I will defintiely go back here again. The food was great, the decor on the walls was great, the waitstaff was friendly and it is easy to find if you know where you are going. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual night out where you arent looking to get all dolled up. The food here can get messy (bbq wings) and there are tv's all over the place. The waitstaff is very casual and laid back, no one is in a rush here and they certainly don't hurry you out of the place either. read more
