The Autograph was a beautiful restaurant. We originally stopped by for brunch but since it was Super Bowl Sunday, they didn't have brunch available. We ordered a chicken sandwich and the cheesesteak. Both were delicious and flavored very well. The proportion was perfect, too. The volume of the restaurant was a bit loud since there was a private event and several people at the bar. Place smelled like bleach. Our waitress came by to fill glass with water. I asked for a new glass because it was dirty. She must have agreed because she took the other 3 on the table. They were bad too. She never did come back. Had another waitress come by to take our order. Got that in and ordered a Coke. Coke had hardly any ice, I asked her 3 times as she walked by for more ice. She never acknowledged me. So we left $5 on the table and walked out. The woman at the door ran out after us like we were crooks and asked if we paid our bill. I told her we never had one and no one wanted to help us. She had a dumb look on her face that matched her personality. So we went across the street to the pizza place. Much better. Beautiful space, kinda upscale, with upscale pricing on their elevated (read: upscale) comfort food, but the quality of both the food and service-- while not disastrous-- don't live up to the image they're projecting. Buffalo Wings: Good number of wings, I think 8 or 10, but all on the small side. Not really crisp, but mostly tender. Some were dry, some were juicy. Ordinary Buffalo sauce. A runner brought the wings and left. No blue cheese. I waited and waited to ask the server for some, but she was nowhere to be found. Had to ask a hostess for it - she said it doesn't come automatically, you have to ask. Sheesh. Tavern Burger: A grilled non-smashburger, with strong grilled flavor and nailed the medium rare. Good juiciness. Good condiments (LTO and creamy sauce) on brioche. Solid. Onion Rings: I opted for the $3 premium to swap out the fries and swap in onion rings with the burger. A mere handful, but THICK. If you'd like this style, you might like these. Seemed like a mass-produced product. Lots of seasoning visually on the outside, but still no flavor. Very bready between the onion and the outside crumbage. Not a fan, but your mileage may vary. Didn't see much of my server. Which is understandable if the place is packed, but at late afternoon, it wasn't. Everything took a little longer than it should. Would have ordered another beer if asked. This is a nice restaurant with a good bar. I came in the afternoon around, happy hour time. I was impressed with the craft beer selection, including my favorite fiddlehead IPA, which was on tap. Came here on Sunday Night Football to watch the games and the vibe was great. Being from out of town and seeing other people cheer for other teams can be intimidating but everyone was nice and friendly. We got some finger foods and none were all that special but it wasn't bad either. Our host was amazing and she checked up on us frequently (which I liked because sometimes they don't check on you at all). She even accommodated changing the channel for some tv so I don't break my neck watching at an angle. Parking was ample and the restaurants pretty big to seat lots of people. Really nice restaurant! First time going there. Plenty of parking, although very cheap ($1 for ~2h), it's not free. Food was good, although I was a little disappointed in the "Evil chicken sandwich". Not sure what's 'evil' about it besides the excess butter and sticky sauce. It certainly ain't spicy... at all. Kinda bizarre they chose French toast instead of regular buns. If I ever go back, I'll definitely order something else. Their burgers are HUGE. Pricey, but huge! Fish tacos looked good too. Service was top notch. Our server was absolutely amazing. I came here on Thursday around 5 pm with three friends to have apps and drinks for one of their birthdays. It was pretty quiet when we went in and we asked if we could be sat on the second floor, which they accepted as long as we left by 7. We were seated and our waitress took our drink orders. I had the All American which was the perfect light summer drink, one friend had the Fade Away which she liked but said was pretty boozy, and I believe another friend had the Forty Love (super pretty). It took a bit for us to order our food and we also waited a little for the food to come out but it wasn't too bad and we were in no rush. I ordered the mac n cheese with buffalo chicken, and although it was a little pricey ($26) it was SO good and a pretty big portion. My friends ordered the garlic parmesan tenders, a burger, and a turkey melt, all of which they loved. I think this is a great place for quality American comfort food and some yummy drinks, and the price range is pretty typical for an Andover restaurant (i.e. a liiittle pricey). We've been to Autograph a few times and every time has been good to great but tonight was fantastic. It was on a whim that we walked in and I'm so glad we did. We were sat upstairs and our server/bartender was Micky. I cannot say enough how much Micky added to the experience. Everyone was phenomenal, the woman that delivered our food, the host, the manager and the young man bussing the table. All fantastic. The inside is set up with nicely appointed holiday decorations. So clean and great spaces for all kinds of parties. Now the food- French onion soup was sincerely one of the best I've had. We also had a burger which again was amazing. The onion rings were so flavorful but due to so much food we weren't able to enjoy them all. We also ordered a steak tip sandwich which was also great and super flavorful. My husband ordered the Fade Away as a cocktail and he said it was super good. Micky was so attentive even when they got busy. He took great care of us. Based on tonight's experience we will continue to keep Autograph as an option often. read more

Awesome modern inviting setting! The menu has enough for everyone's tastes, but the Cobb is exceptional and I got one to take out with a kids chicken tender/strawberry meal. I came here on a weekday when it was less busy at around 5:30. The waiters were nice. Calm and casual modern inside. I got the autograph burger and the barbecue chicken tenders. My burger was alright. It had crispy onion rings inside it which tasted very oily and the burger patty was extremely undersalted. I didn't taste any barbecue aioli as the menu said. The only actually salted part was the bacon which was good. Ordered medium but it came a barely pink medium-well. But it was pretty juicy. The fries were crispy but undersalted and were only lightly fried instead of the darker ones I've seen on the Yelp pictures. Another person at my table got the sweet potato fries which were fried better but they weren't sweet. I've never had sweet potato fries that were not sweet before. Chicken tenders were the worst. 5/10. I didn't expect much because tenders are pretty hard to mess up. But they came soggy. The "house made" honey bourbon barbecue sauce just tasted like Sweet Baby Ray's. I did not taste any honey or bourbon. Some parts were warm and some were cold so our waitress was very nice and heated them up after I asked her. The breading was not crispy at all. It was smooth and soft like the orange chicken from Panda instead of something like KFC. They didn't taste fresh, and evidently they weren't because they didn't come warm. Lastly, my party asked for the food to be served when it was ready but it all came at once so only some dishes were warm. Overall though it was not too bad because prices were reasonable, the portion sizes were nice, and the service was great. Just a little disappointed whe since I've heard great things about this restaurant. I guess I might have just ordered the wrong stuff. If I come back here I'll probably try the steak tips. Food is generally good, but question value vs cost. 8 dry wings for $18? $20+ for a pretzel appetizer? In general, the size and quality of each dish I have tried has been suspect. Best thing on the menu is the Doms steak sandwich, but it is like $30. The service has also been scarce the last few times, we went on a Sunday brunch recently and though the place had empty tables, they were generally busy - our food took 30 min to come out (waitress did not check in on table 1 time) when it came my husband and daughters food was hot and fresh, but my eggs Benedict were ice cold and again the waitress never came back to the table after food was delivered to check. Very frustrating. As we Sat there - the bar was full of dirty dishes/ uncleared drinks and bartender looked alone and overwhelmed. We saw one couple come in, sit at the bar, wait like 10+ min without acknowledgement and get up and leave. Other trips have not been this bad, but in general when you charge as much as they do, you expect a certain level of service imo. My patronage has steadily declined over last 6+ months when I noticed the shift. read more

I came here for lunch with my coworkers. The restaurant is beautiful and we were all impressed walking in. We were seated quickly and were told it could be slow service due to only one server, but she was very nice and very efficient! Lunch was delicious. Tonight was my third visit and the food never disappoints. The pulled pork nachos are to die for! They are on homemade chips and the meat is so flavorful. The pretzel is huge and definitely big enough for a family to share! My husband and daughter both had burgers. I tried a bite and the meat was so tender and juicy. The turkey club was one of the best I have had- it was on a cranberry cinnamon bread with candied bacon (how can you go wrong?). We love the atmosphere of the tables in the bar area. had a family birthday dinner at autograph. not pictured are the onion rings (breaded, if you like that; but seasoned well) with a thousand island dressing and steak and cheese egg rolls in what seemed to be phyllo dough. the food was decent, though if you read my reviews you know i tolerate new american at best so this was a location that was honestly fine. i had no real complaints. i wish the evil chick sandwich was more spicy and punchy with the nashville hot - pickles were good but a little sweeter than i would have liked. the rest of my table enjoyed their food; the chicken dinner was a covid favorite for my table at the other restaurant that is owned by the owners so they were happy to see it back. service was quick and kind and was happy to bring another round of drinks. this is a very large space and we ate upstairs which had more of a bar vibe but had lots of beautiful natural light coming in. if you like la rosa's or la fina this is the same group! read more

Stopped here for lunch on a weekday. Place was busy. Space is nice - it's and upscale sports bar. We sat at the bar and our server was great - super helpful and took good care of us. I had the kale power greens salad with chicken - which was a generous portion size - but it really lacked flavor. My friend had the classic chicken sandwich with fries which she loved. The Autograph American Tavern opened this week at Andover Village Square in the large modern barn style building, formerly Smythe & Dove, serving lunch, dinner, and drinks, open late. I stopped by The Autograph Tavern later in the evening around 9 pm on a weeknight. The place was getting slammed earlier around 7:30 pm, so I decided to run an errand and return later. I perused the menu, which has food on one side and drinks on the other side. The food menu offers a variety of American (New) pub fare including appetizers, wings, tenders, clam chowder, salads, bar pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, main entrees (steaks, pork chop, fish & chips, baked cod, mac & cheese, chicken pot pie). The prices are moderate high, most entrees $18 to $40 range. The drink offerings include a variety of signature cocktails, 12 draft beers & ciders, bottle & can beers, and a wine list. Anyways, when I returned around 9pm, the place was still getting slammed with some of the same customers still here. I checked out the two levels of the place, which has table seating and bars with seating & TVs on each level. There are black & white photos of Boston sports including athletes & coaches on the walls. The place was jammed packed full at 9 pm on a weeknight. I eventually had to give the hostess my number to put my name in for the next available table, just in case no seats opened up at one of the bars. I stuck around to watch Thursday Night Football, which was showing on most of the TVs. I eventually sat down at the main level bar around 9:20 pm. as some people cashed out and left. All tables were still occupied, and no one was moving. My bartender was cashing out 20 checks/tabs after I sat down to watch football. I already knew what I wanted for food and immediately placed my order. The bartender also gave me an ice water too. For a starter, the BBQ Nachos ($17 plus tax) which had tender Braised Pulled BBQ Chicken, Pico de Gello, Cheese, Lettuce, Sour Cream, Pickled Jalapeno Guacamole, over a huge pile of Homemade Potate Chips. OMG, these potato chip nachos were enough for 3-4 people to share. For my entree, I got the Tavern Burger ($18 plus tax) which had lettuce, tomato, onions, secret sauce, and cheese (I chose whipped goat cheese) on a brioche bun, served with golden hand cut fries and sweet & sour pickle chips. The burger was smothered with lots of whipped goat cheese on top and the other toppings on under the thick grilled beef patty. It was messy, but very good. The thicker cuts of fries were hot and firm. I got a to go box for half of the nachos. The check was $37.45 with tax and before tip. The service at the bar was friendly and good. I got refills on the ice water and my food arrived within 15 minutes after ordering. The kitchen closes sometime between 9:30pm and 10pm, so get your food orders in quickly. Getting a seat to eat some food at The Autograph was very difficult and I almost went to a different pub for late food and football. Luckily, the main bar started to open up with seating around 9:20 pm. Some tables near me began to clear out around 9:50 pm. I will eventually come back for more food when the newness of The Autograph fades. read more

My buddy and I wandered into this brand new establishment on Wednesday evening to check it out. We sat at the bar on the first floor. There's plenty of seating at the bar and comfortable tables and booths around the rest of the room. There's a whole upstairs, with another large bar and more tables. The overall vibe is upbeat and happy. There are plenty of TVs; from my perch I could easily keep an eye on the Bruins opener, a Celtics preseason game, and an MLB game that (spoiler alert) didn't involve the Dead Sox. The food and drink was first rate. It would be faint praise indeed to say "great sports bar food." This was simply excellent food, period. My buddy and I shared the Autograph's creative version of nachos: house made potato chips awash in barbecue sauce, guacamole, cheese, jalapeños, and braised chicken. It was as delicious as it was huge. It could easily be shared by 4 hungry people. My dinner was a roast turkey club with candied bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes served on wonderfully delicious cinnamon cranberry bread. My friend had a real showstopper: blackened swordfish BLT. Hand cut French fries accompanied each sandwich. The beer list is also decent. I'd say about a dozen on tap and another dozen bottled choices. I had the house "Signature" lager. Crisp and light, served filled to the top of the frosty cold pint glass. I also enjoyed a "Rope a Dope" cocktail. I don't recall the exact ingredients but it was variation on an Old Fashioned that was smooth and tasty. The coolest part was the layer of cherry wood smoke that topped the beverage. No room for dessert, and there's a whole lot of other dishes for me to try in future visits. The shaved steak-and-cheese spring rolls will be mine, and the turkey pot pie that the guy next to me had also looked fantastic. read more

We came later in the evening. The place is quite large. with different areas so we sat down in a side room that was not noisy. The bar is where the action is, which lots of screens and quite lively. We ordered the house lager which was just right what I had in mind. Food is excellent. On the pricey side for a bar, this is much more elaborated than typical bar food. Although the appetizer was on the small side, main dishes are abundant. Pizza is definitely for sharing. Our group also had a salad with tuna, Mac & Cheese which came in a large dish and Mahi Mahi sandwich which was grilled just right. All their food is excellent. read more

However hostess said "we highly recommend them" and they would "squeeze you in upstairs". Upstairs was empty- one other table had a party. So unnecessary. Food took a long time to come. We got sandwiches/burger - no special requests. 2 out 5 were cold. When trying to leave, they said a card was declined so we gave another & checked our credit card app. It had been run so we were charged twice - once each on 2 cards. They had to cancel it, taking another long time. Whole experience was disappointing starting off with rude greeting. Manager took our information to make it right he said. I said it's not about money although it was overpriced. Food that was correct temperature was fine but stuff you can get at the 99. Haven't heard anything in few days from him, likely won't. I hate writing this review but have to let you know our recent experience. We have been going to Autograph since they opened and loved it. We returned a few days ago and sat at the bar. The service was very good. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella sticks and we told they were all out. This was before 5 pm but understandable. We then ordered my favorite appetizers of the spring rolls and homemade fries. Very disappointed. The steak spring rolls, while tasted OK, were significantly different than prior. Very mushy inside. The fries, which were my favorite are now like pizza shop fries not the homemade ones we loved previously. Needless to say we were very disappointed to not have the better-quality food that we have been experiencing since they opened. I hope you go back to your original food as it was fantastic.
