Love this place - and Jimmy is a legend. Great hot dogs, affordable, and the staff are great. Only downside is that during the lunch rush it gets packed...so seating might be limited. Overall though, it should remind any Chicagoan of home. read more

Though it's a hot dog place i went with the Italian Beef with grilled onions and fries. The girl was very helpful in my ordering. The sandwich was very good though a little messy since it was dipped. I loved the fries because the cut and fried them at time of order. Yum. read more

This is a pre review out of excitement. Wow I'm so happy to have. Wait first... let me take a bite. Ahhhhh-mayzing! I love me a good Chicago dog. Now I'm not from Chicago so I can't say what's actually right but from my understanding the only thing that's a little off is not having a poppy seed bun? But other than that it's absolutely perfect. And the bun is not a make it or break it for me, I just added the info for the review. I was driving down Broadway and spotted the Vienna beef umbrellas and that's always the best advertisement. It's hard to find Vienna beef in Arizona. I decided after my quest that I had to stop because who knows when I'll ever be back over here. So glad I did. What a treat. Seriously hits the spot. The maps say they open at 9:30 but when I got here it was open already with 2 people inside (that was 3 minutes til 9:30) So I'm not exactly sure their actual hours. Definitely gotta stop here if you're from the Midwest! read more

My first time at Jimmy's several places in the valley advertise real Chicago hot dogs. This is the place! I had a chili dog as they should be, hotdog, mustard, chili and then onion. Transported me right back to a little Greek hotdog restaurant just outside of Detroit. I had an Italian sausage also, On Point. I didn't have a picture to post, because I ate so fast I almost lost a finger tip. read more

The dog was just right, with the condiments you come to expect (day-glo green relish and tomato, to name a couple) and the fries were freshly fried. Jimmy is constantly working the fry line and you can't really get any better than having the owner make your meal for you! With that, you can rest assured that your food will be handled with care and made to order just like the owner envisioned! This is a quick lunch option for the nearby businesses. It's also a solid option for my lunch break during the week. The hot dogs are Vienna beef...yum. The fries and onion rings are made to order...double yum. I always get great customer service here and get exactly what I ordered. You can count on it getting busy during lunchtime, but there is plenty of parking and they often move through the line very quickly. This place is great! You wouldn't think of it driving by. Looking for new lunch places around my area decided to come here. It is small inside with a couple of tables to sit. Very simple menu but everything is made fresh! I ordered a turkey sub and fries. My husband ordered a Chicago style hot dog and fries. My sub was ssooo good! It was a good size very filling. The turkey in the sand which was good and it all tasted so fresh with good flavor. The fries were also good, they are made from cut potatoes there so they are really fresh. My husband hot dog was so tasty as well. They were friendly with the amount of fries as well. That is always a big bonus for me. The pricing of their menu is a deal! I love this place. Seems like a genuinely awesome Chicago eatery. I'm originally from Illinois and would drive into Chicago several times a year throughout my entire childhood. This place feels like I'm back home and about to visit Grant Park. I got the Italian Beef sub, and it was amazing. I personally like my bread on the crisper side so I might request that next time, but I know traditionally it's on a fresh hoagie I believe so no complaints here. Chicago dogs are tiny and way overpriced for not even being correct. Chili cheese fries are canned chili dumped on the fries. Tastes bland and are to expensive for what they are. Pizza puffs are good and just like the ones everyone sells in illinois, the only problem with the pizza puffs is they are fried for inconsistent amounts of time. They are either black and way over cooked, or they are warm. I understand prices have gone up for everything in this country. So thats whatever. But ive been local to jimmys since 2015 and the quality has always been hit or miss. After going three times this past week. I am officially done giving this place money. It's strange to me that of all things Chicago could brag about, they get hyped for hot dogs more than anything else. My understanding is they come on poppy seed rolls, and get topped off with mustard, tomatoes, and relish so green it could be radioactive. And although Jimmy's invokes the Windy City, it does not seem to follow this format. I've seen sandwiches totally improvised. I'm more than open to doing it differently, but do brats really need to come with French bread? And for what does come in buns, it's a tossup between good buns and tiny, flimsy dollar store buns. I would gladly pay more for the dignity of using something consistently acceptable. I mean on paper I should really write this place off entirely, but you know what? It's actually not that bad. And it's really fast. I have honestly had better from random carts in parking lots, but at the same time I've left more promising mom & pop spots much less satisfied. It's worth giving a shot and making up your own mind. read more

Much like other reviewers have stated this is a no frills type of restaurant. A simple menu of hot dogs, sausage, Italian beef and fried delights are available. I opted for the combo sandwich that has an Italian sausage and Italian beef on one roll with giardiniera and hot peppers. The sandwich was piled high and pretty filling. The sausage was spicy and paired well with the giardiniera and beef. Very tasty. Another standout was the French fries. Cut from real potatoes in the store and prepared with clean fryer oil. I bring up the oil because some restaurants try to stretch their budgets and using oil for several days which the oil gets darker and darker with use and your food ends up looking burnt but is really just a greasy mess from the old oil. The fries here are great, a perfect crispy and hot exterior without overcooking them. Overall a positive experience with decent prices and high quality food. read more

Lookin for something new near my work, tried Jimmy's. Chili dog (add cheese): Just ok, hot dog had a good snap to it, which I know some people like, however I personally think it needs to be cooked a bit more. 3/5 Sonoran dog: Oh yeah baby, this was delicious. I haven't had a Sonoran dog in years and this is one of the best I've had. Just the right amount of everything. 5/5 Regular fries - Just fine, nothing special, definitely had better, definitely had worse. Cooked just right. Similar to McDonald's or Whataburger fries, but more reminded me of OreIda fries I toss in the oven at home. 3/5 Total purchase: $12.50 for the above Final thoughts: Glad I tried it, I don't remember the individual item pricing, but I think the Chili dog was underwhelming for the price and the Sonoran/fries were fine. I would return for the Sonoran and to try some other items, however I bring my lunch to work 99% of the time. read more

Searching for another place for lunch that isn't too far away. This place is a little hole in the wall in an industrial park, but it's clean and the people are super nice. I just had a chili cheese dog and it was pretty good. I really should have tried the fries, they look really good. I just went into Jimmy's hotdogs for the first time on a whim I wasn't expecting much and I ordered the Chicago dog and some fries came out to about seven dollars to which I was worried that my cheap meal wouldn't be very good. Stumbled in here after making a delivery at Pepsi, what a GEM! These AZ folks got a winner here. Busy upon entry, always a good sign. Ordered a chili cheese & Chicago dog plus fries. After a short wait on the nice cooled/shaded patio, owner delivers food fresh! Nice warm buns, with a snap to the dog, the absolute best combo lol. This place is amazing, most certainly recommend 10 out of 10. I've been coming here for over a year now and this place never lets me down, jimmy and the staff are always so kind and ready to greet each customer with a smile. The food is always amazing now matter what you order, it doesn't take very long and you can't beat the prices, got a ton of food for $20. Once inside, the welcoming scent of the hot dogs and frying potatoes is good enough to carry you to the counter to order. My favorite offering of Jimmy's is a Polish sausage done in their "Chicago style" with a side of french fries. The 'dog is an explosion of flavor and the fries are consistently fresh and soft yet crispy. The onion rings are also not to be missed. And each item on Jimmy's menu comes at a price that is exceedingly reasonable for the reliable high quality. Don't feel like you're the only one who is tempted by the slices of cheesecake in the glass case. They will change your standards, being a perfect combination of smooth creaminess with a buttery, crumbly crust. When I started at ASU back in 2014, I discovered Ike's as I was exploring Mill Avenue. Since then, Ike's has been among my favorite places for sandwiches. Although it is no longer on the menu, my favorite sandwich is the Steph Curry One, which features turkey, provolone cheese, and yellow BBQ sauce. I found out that even if something is not on the menu, they can still make it for you if you remember the combination. Some other sandwiches I like are the Hunter Pence and the Steve Nash. The service is friendly, and they are more than happy to offer suggestions on what sandwich to choose, as they have an excellent selection of sandwiches. I also like the atmosphere. It is nice and colorful, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy your food. Ike's is also a great place to go if you need to eat on the run. Once, I had to take my sandwich to go. Upon ordering it, they had it ready with plenty of time to spare. I also like that they have a rewards program. I highly recommend Ike's Love and Sandwiches to anyone who is looking for a great sandwich on Mill Avenue.

I found Jimmy's by chance. I live so close. I got excited about finding the hot dog I had when I was 25 and now am 70. Still looking. It was a viena hot dog so I was very anxious to try. Well I got a hot dog and a sausage to go with onion rings. Well let me say right off the onion rings were the best of my life. I am being "frank". Now for the dogs. The hot dog was very very good. But the sausage was best of USA and EU. Hell it was everything I wanted and more than I ever knew. Ok I sound like a shill or a crazy but you go to this place and order the sausage and onion rings and make post. Thank you Jimmy. Jimmy's is the best place to go for a good quick lunch I always get Italian beef sweet peppers hot peppers with mozzarella and wet so amazing could eat it, the staff there is very friendly always working hard has a smile on their face and I get my food quick as possible Jimmy's is my go-to thanks for the great food. Simply put...nicely prepared Vienna Beef hot dog Chicago style. Loved it plus the french fries. The staff working there today were very nice and friendly. Seemed like they enjoyed their job. Flying back home today after a week in Phoenix for business. Glad I found this great place on Yelp. Nice place to detour to on your way to the airport car rental center. read more
