She welcomed me in and asked if I had any questions. I ordered a turkey bacon and cheddar and BLT sub. There's plenty of cold and hot sub options, low carb options. I believe she said they make the bread there as well. You can taste the freshness in the food here. The place was clean and the food was amazing. This spot is about 40 minutes from home and I would be here weekly if it was closer. Cannot wait for another stop in! read more

Wyndham Security donated subs for dinner at the Scottsdale Citizens Academy class tonight and the subs were the best dinner we have had yet! So fresh and wonderful variety of choices! I enjoyed the turkey and cheeses and roast beef and cheddar. The chips were great and they even thought to include mayo and mustard packets! Delish thank you! I stopped by the Sub Shack for dinner on a week day and I'm glad I did. Located on the outskirts of downtown, this sub shop is a hidden gem. They share a shopping center with several other businesses. Parking won't be a problem. Ambiance (3/5): Pretty much a no-frills restaurant More of a grab-and-go type spot, but they do have 10 or so tables inside. And they have free WiFi. Which is always a plus in my book, as I did some work as I chowed down. Service (4.5/5): The owner was the only one working and he's a friendly guy. You order your food at the counter and he will bring it to your table. He checked in with me several times to see if I had everything I needed and asked what I thought about the food. Drinks (3.5/5): Bottled beverages are offered at Sub Shack. I went with an Arizona Iced Tea. I typically prefer soft drinks because they tend to be cheaper than bottled beverages, but bottled is the only way to go here. Food (4.5/5): I've been to a lot of sub shops over the years, both chains and local shops. Sub Shack reminds me a lot of Jersey Mike's. They both focus on the quality of their deli meats. And you can taste it. Very much Italian focused with the offerings. I went with two subs, their two most popular subs: the pizza sub and the Italian supreme. Both were good, but the pizza sub was my favorite. The melted cheese was so good---I'm always a sucker for some pull factor. They top their subs with a delicious blend of spices including oregano which is a nice touch. I also appreciated the combination of Italian meets you get in the Italian supreme. These subs are filling and served open-faced. I saw an ad on Facebook for Sub Shack. Upon providing them with my information, I received a coupon for buy one sub, get one free. I wish they were open a little later, but outside of that, the best sub spot I've been to in Phoenix since I moved here back in January (eight months ago). read more

I don't think this is a 5 star sandwich shop. The service was fine and seating area very clean, but the sandwich was just bland. The bread is very soft and lacks texture, underbaked in my opinion. The portions are just ok and the value just isn't there either for $20 combo with tip. I'd pass. read more

There were about 3 of us in there. I ordered a turkey sub which came with American (yellow) cheese, pickles, mayo, onion, lettuce, tomato. I think the bread was soft, but nothing stood out. Here's an interesting story. It's about a sandwich shop that is no longer part of some national chain. I'll give you one guess which one it was. And now, it's still a sandwich shop, albeit, an independent one. And the former chain manager/franchisee is now the owner of Just Cuz Subs. How do I know all this? I use to work a few doors down and patronized this place frequently. Recently, I drove by and noticed the old sign was gone. But it's been replaced with a sign that told me things may not have changed much. So I dragged a former co-worker along (we enjoyed many lunches together here) for another go. We were happy to see Kim's smiling face when we approached the register. She explained the situation more clearly than I probably did. Regardless, it was great to see her again. And it's not just because she was able to serve us a sandwich similar to the old Italian subs we ordered so often before. The decor of Just Cuz Subs hasn't changed much and I'm sure it will evolve and develop its own character. More importantly, what they sell is delicious and who sells them is as friendly as ever. Hopefully, those who work nearby are already enjoying the new place. I know I'm looking forward to returning soon to try something different. Great job Kim! read more
