It's been a while since we've been here! We sat at the bar and the service was excellent! . I ordered the lobster pie and steak tip combo. You get several sides with the meal. I went with the baked potatoe with sour cream & butter . Also went with the cup of clam chowder. Starting with the chowder, it was not to thick and it had plenty of potatoes and clams, delicious. The steak tips were excellent, tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. The lobster pie was loaded with lobster claw meat, light on the butter and just enough bread crumbs. My meal was $30, very reasonable. The Mrs ordered off the special menu and got the scallop Florentine, with spinach, onions topped with mornay sauce. The Mrs also decided to have the baked potato with sour cream and butter. She decided on the garden salad as her other side. She said the salad was fresh. She also said the scallops melted in you mouth. Her meal was very reasonably priced at $22.99 Including the several drinks the whole meal was $91.74 This place is casual dining! Nice bar and a very nice dinning room. Old school restaurant Definitely a two Thumbs up for this visit. We won't wait to long for our next visit. read more

Family dinner, a patient and funny waitress helped make the meal better. Appetizers were simple, Buffalo chicken tenders and steak and cheese egg rolls. Nice and low volume on the restaurant. No loud voices booming over another, rub eye steaks all around, three with fries, three with baked potatoes. No rush on the food coming out, and no worries on that either. This was the worst food experience I have ever had at a restaurant with my family. The restaurant was very quiet and not busy at all. Our waitress was rude and seemed annoyed that our family of 5 adults and 3 kids came on a Saturday afternoon. It took over 40 minutes just to place our order. When I asked for a water but then asked for waters for the table (usually the first thing brought when you sit down at any decent restaurant) the waitress exclaimed " that's a lot of waters" she came back with the 2 that me and my sister had specifically asked for but no others. We then sat for 35 minutes after we had finished eating with no acknowledgement so I went up to the kind bartender with glasses and asked her to cash us out. We didn't see the waitress again until we were walking out of the restaurant. Someone like this should not be in the service industry. Will never be back here. read more

We were looking forward to a late lunch today at 3:45Pm. We never had our lunch because the hostess was too busy filling out her chalkboard specials. It would have only taken a second to seat the four of us, in an empty restaurant, but then she walked away towards the kitchen leaving us standing there. Myself and my wife were guests at Jimmy's on 9/26 checkout at 12:55. The server who greeted us a rather insensitive fellow; he clearly must have noticed I'm not very mobile moving about. He told us to follow him to be seated to the area having stairs. I told him I'm not able to decent stairs. He then led us the the dining room. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember! Never once have I had: bad service; a rude waitress/waiter: bad food; a long wait for my order. Never. This does not happen by accident. It tells me the have an owner and/or manager that hires quality people and trains them well! The food here is not just good, it's fabulous and is always cooked just they way I ask. They space itself is comfortable and nicely decorated and relaxing. To be in business and to do it right consistently for so long is the true mark of a successful business. We were looking for a spot for dinner, so the two of us headed over to Jimmy's in Saugus - yes, my dc is a meat eater. At about 7:30pm on a Sunday evening, there was no wait for a table. The two of us weren't starving, so we decided to share two starters and an entree: . Hand Cut Zucchini Sticks peppercorn dressing $5.49 . Coconut Crusted Shrimp gulf shrimp rolled in fresh coconut and seasoned bread crumbs $7.99 . Crabmeat Pie & New York Sirloin $16.99 Some nice warm bread was brought to the table on a bread board along with the appetizers and the salad - a simple, fresh enough version consisting of lettuce, purple cabbage, cucumber, tomato, and shredded carrots. The Shrimp turned out to be four huge specimens, crispy coconutty on the outside, moist on the inside, and really good with the orange marmalade based dipping sauce. We l-o-v-e, loved the shrimp! The zucchini sticks were decent sized logs, nicely breaded and soft on the inside, and served in a manner that reminded me of the game Pick-up Sticks. We had but made a dent in our first course when the entree arrived. The thick steak arrived medium as ordered. The crab arrived in chunks under buttered crumbs. The rice pilaf arrived spinach laden as expected, but sadly it wasn't quite up to par of my memory of it... Service was pleasant. Hooks were available by the booths for our jackets. Went here with 3 others on a Saturday night. Initial impressions were much better than the Arlington location I visited several months ago. This place has a newer feeling and was jammed-packed. We had a brief wait and enjoyed drinks at the bar. Martinis for others and a Wormtown Be Hoppy (a delicious Left Coast IPA from Worcester) for me- an excellent selection of microbrews on tap. Once seated we were served by an attentive and genuinely friendly waiter who was candid in her recommendations- much appreciated. Jimmy's is known for their prime rib and steaks and did not disappoint. The smaller size prime rib was was a more than adequate portion and was perfectly prepared. The scrod and shrimp special came well cooked as requested. The teriyaki steaks- as recommended were a great pick. My larger size was a good quality cut of sirloin- cooked exactly right and came with a light teryaki flavor and was not salty. The rice pilaf was surprisingly good and the tossed salads were fine. Warm friendly service, well cooked meals with quality ingredients made for a nice night. Excellent! I grew up going to Jimmy's in Arlington, but now live closer to Saugus and this is just as I remember it to be. We were seated promptly, greeted by our waitress who dropped off rolls for the table. We ordered an appetizer of potato skins, which were very good, we all ordered steak tips done medium, they were cooked perfectly for dessert we had the Ghirardelli brownie sundae, the brownie was a little dry but otherwise it was good. Yesterday was only my third visit to Jimmy's Steer House but now I can say that they are consistently good. I chose the luncheon special of swordfish medallions and sirloin steak (see photo) with a side of rice pilaf. The steak was done perfectly; crispy outside and juicy inside. Same for the swordfish. One of the best rice pilaf dishes I've ever had. All this for only $13.99 and lunch goes until 4 PM. My three companions were equally pleased with their meals as well. I will go back soon. read more

My best friend and I wanted to try a new restaurant so we ended up at Jimmy's. The host was nice a gave us a table right away ( mind you it was Father's Day so super busy.) It took our waitress Stephanie just a few seconds before coming over and introducing herself and offering us some bread with butter, while also taking our drink orders. The bread with butter was delicious! I ordered the burger with bacon and substituted my fries for the tastiest loaded baked potato. 4 or 5 years ago would have given it 5 stars. The customer service is ok. Last couple ppl that waited on us really were distracted. You could tell they wanted to go home. We had to wait a while for refills. My order was wrong. The manager came over and was ok. Offered me another meal while my family was half way through. I haven't been as happy as I was coming here as I was 3 to 5 yrs ago. So we will be trying other places or driving to the one in Arlington. The prices have gone way up over the past ten years.
