This shop did a great job taking care of our family and getting us back on the road. We were traveling from NY to KY when our wheel bearing broke. We have a newborn and a 2 year old with us, we picked Jim's based on other reviews and we're glad we went there. We got to the shop 45 minutes before they closed, they took a look at it and order the part just based on hearing it. My husband took the car back first thing in the morning when they opened and they had it fixed within 2 hours. The staff were all friendly and helpful, let my husband see how bad the wheel bearing looked and the price was more than fair considering the urgency of the situation. As soon as I saw the big american flag out front I suspected that this dude would screw me, even before I saw the Let's Go Brandon and antimask signs inside...And he did not dissappoint in that regard..I think his name was Eric, but let's call him BranDon because like his MAGA idols he's incompetent AND everything out of his mouth is a lie. I made an appointment to drop car off Fri am for A/C, put in a manifold intake that I purchased (but I wanted hoses checked too) and a suspension problem. I printed out my codes from the reader and added additional concerns , left a copy in the car with the part and with the key in the drop, to back up our verbal agreement. (This is when I saw the flag and got concerned). They didn't look at it until afternoon and said it was a big job for suspension and needed to keep it until Monday instead of putting it back together so I could have it that night..When questioned he said they did the A/C and put the part on (spoiler alert! They did not) He also said that after I needed to take everything out and bring it back to get it aligned because it was really overloaded (spoiler alert! There was about 50 pounds of stuff in there, boxes of light tools and paper..He didn't believe me so fine I took everything out) Monday I called for ETA and then said everything was done, they were waiting for a part , BranDon was in Cleveland but call around 3:45 to see if they were done done. They weren't, said they might be by 6, but I gave my ride more money and got a ride for one more day. BranDon called Tuesday 3:30 said everything was done, riding great, come get it. This is when I finally saw the MAGA merch inside when I paid... I paid in advance for the alignment , the sign on the wall said 80 but he said 100 and I knew he'd just say that was an old price..(later he did, and also the next Tues, alignment day, the whole price board was gone) . The whole interacton was weird like he didn't want me to come for the alignment. (Spoiler alert! Don't let these maroons do an alignment on your car) Anyway, I found out on the way home that the A/C was not fixed, so I popped the hood and saw my part hadn"t been installed either. One of the rear tires was quite visibly not even close to aligned. I ran a code analysis and the lights that he said he fixed ( "If it was on the list we did it!" quote from BranDon.(SPoiler alert! Nope))were still showing a code...So I called him up and he said that he learned that things weren't done after I left so was going to wait until he saw me for Tuesday alignment.. Instead of calling me and apologizing which would be the decent thing. So in 5 days of having the car they didn't do anything while they "waited" for parts. So he swears that they can do everything and the alignment if I come in after work at 4.. SO I get there with a cleaned out car and go over everything that was going to happen he hands my keys to his dude.. I go outside to wait and dude is still standing there and asks me for help unlocking the car...He's got a fob and a key..It's not a Tesla with the disappearing handle! it's an old Ford.. I was already planning on watching them work , to see if they even had the aligning equipment, because at this point I'm dubious. I gave them about 10 min to get into it, and I walked back there while catching Pokemon..The hood was up and there were 3 guys leaning on the car smoking and telling stories...I come back around 5 min later and they're still not doing car work..So I stood in the back lot and looked at them.. After a bit one puts my part in ... It took 10 minutes tops, didn't check hose pressure, and for this I was charged 150, which would be for 1.5 hours shop time. Later BranDon said he noticed that and was going to talk to the boss and they'd call me about it tomorrow (Spoiler alert! They did not..)((But it would have been shop credit for more bad work, so there's that) Out of the 3 to 5 guys standing around my car only one did anything, the rest stood there and smoked. One guy did the a/c. They all looked not like the technicians on Jim's Automotive website, but like he'd swept under the bleachers at a high school at 4:20.. SO lead guy I'm calling BranDon goes over and they raise it up , and 5 guys stand there and watch one guy do things to the back end for an hour and a half..There is alignment things on all the tires..He looked at the front end for maybe 5 minutes...(spoiler alert! there's still a vibration in the front end and steering wheel) I doubt they checked anything even though price includes checking tires since one of them was 20 pounds low, so I'm saying they aren't thorough but will swear that they are to your face. And I'm still worried why one dude was under my car playing with a torch. In conclusion, horrible untrustworthy service plus manager Eric dismissive and rude and tells an amazing amount of lies, very overpriced, and not concerned with how long they have your car. read more

I wish I had come here in the first place! I was having coolant issues and I took it to another shop back in January. Spent almost 2 weeks carless, spent nearly $1k in repairs and the car wasn't properly fixed. I wanted to prepare for the winter (when the coolant issue is more apparent) so I decided to give Jim's automotive shop a try. Called Monday and took my car in that same day to run a diagnostic check, it was the same problem as before. They scheduled me to bring my car in two days later on Wednesday morning for repairs. Staff was very friendly and thoroughly explained the process. Before starting any work they called me to let me know what my total would be and that it would be done before the end of the day! I was honestly shocked that it would take such little time and was even more surprised when I got a call about 2 hours later letting me know it was ready to pick up. They also have a warranty for all their repairs which is really great! I paid less than half of what I paid at the other shop, even got my AC recharged, and got my car back the same day! Definitely will be bringing our cars here for any future maintenance repairs, thank you! read more

While visiting from out of town I got a low coolant warning. I was leaking coolant and Jim's got us in right away. I wrote this review on Google reviews, figured I would also post it here since it applies to Yelp as well. I, my wife, my father, mother, stepson, stepdaughter, and my son have all been going to Jim's for at least the last 7 or 8 years. We lived in Stow but recently moved to the North Canton area. Even though they are 30 minutes away, we still take our vehicles there. I think what we like about Jim's is the small town/family ownership aspect to the business. My grandfather owned a small service station for 40 plus years from the 1950's to the 1990's in Indiana and I used to work part time on weekends in school, to make extra cash. Jim's reminds me of how my grandfather ran his business, a people business. Make people important and the profits will come. They seem to operate on a motto of do not fix it if it ain't broke. Just had my ac compressor replaced about a week ago and then the accessory belt was making noise, took it back yesterday, they did a repair on it, but the squeak came back. Today, they replaced the belt and they cut the belt cost and removed the labor charge since I had to come back in for a second visit. I didn't ask for this, but they did it to make it right, they didn't ask for a review, but I felt it was good to let other people know what they might expect. The right way to do business. In my opinion there are three types of car owners. Do it yourselfers, New Car every three years and folks like myself that keep 5-15-year-old vehicles and drive them till the wheels fall off. Yes, owning a 5-20-year-old vehicle means more trips to the repair shop, but the repairs are never going to exceed the exorbitant expenses one has by the 2021 average new car payment of $563.00 per month. I'd rather take my vehicle to a local repair shop and save some money. So do yourself a favor and give them a try. If your vehicle is out of warranty and you don't want to pay rip off dealer costs, give Jim's a try. I have found them to be fair, transparent, and open. I like supporting this kind of business which is hard to find. The corner repair shops that aren't franchised or dealer owned. I can give you several examples of how they treat customers fair. A friend of mine from High School (a million years ago) had his daughter at Kent state last winter. He was 400 miles away and his daughters rear brakes were having issues. He called a dealer they wanted about 900 bucks, I advised him to go to Jim's and they took care of the issue for 300. He was so pleased that he said he would take me to dinner to thank me. He was so worried he would be taken advantage of but they treated his daughter fairly. My father went there last year asking for all 4 wheels to be balanced, they only charged him for 1 wheel to be balanced because the other 3 were fine. You know the big dogs would charge all 4 and not think twice. My wife went in for a transmission fluid change a few months ago due to owners manual recommendation and they looked at the fluid and said it was fine, wait there is no need to do it yet. How many shops will do this? Customer comes in thinking they need to buy item X and they advise against it (saving the customer money but doing the right thing). These are the reasons we keep coming back and keep referring people. I give these examples so you can see they aren't always trying to upsell folks for things they don't need. A small business that still operates the way my grandfather did business, put people first and allow word of mouth and reviews to refer more business. Keep doing what you are doing Jim's read more

They destroyed the pipe flange on my converter while changing my muffler, then told me they would have to put a new converter on the car. They claimed they got me a "good deal" on the new one. They are sold online from multiple sources for less than $200, they charged me $397 !! The car now has a noise in the rear that was not there before they worked on the car. I took it back to them but they exhibited no interest in fixing the problem! I am going to take it to another shop, get it fixed and submit the bill for payment, before proceeding to small claims court. read more

I would like to start by saying I have no complaints regarding competence of mechanics, my complaint and people please pay attention, is transparency and price. I took my vehicle for a transmission repair, was quoted price range of $1,900- $2,300, and told transmission may not need to be replaced. I asked them specifically to please contact me once the problem has been determined so I could get a clear price. Two weeks later I get a call saying all work was done and to bring in $3,000, after a short debate I received a call two days later from someone else telling me $2, 800, got the lawyer involved, nothing much changed would've cost me more to fight it. Manager contacted me and said he made no money off the job and just wanted off his books, also explained the reason cost was so high was because of a computer inside of my transmission, think they should've explained this before doing the job. I only suggest getting a second quote they are extremely expensive to a middle class guy putting kids through college, so if you have it to throw away go with these guys. The manager asked me if my check would clear on a Sat morning, I asked him to verify the check, and he says I believe you...why ask...weird. Stay away. read more

I have been going to Jim's for three years now. They are the best. I am a single mom and I admit I do not know much about cars but these guys always fix my problem and never pad out their bill. I have taken my car to them and told them to go through it I am taking a road trip with my kids and they came back with nothing but my usual oil change and tire rotation. That's honesty. The other night my car had a fuel line break and I just happened to catch the guys on the way out and they even made sure I had a ride home before they left.
