Ugh! Got this late night because I figured why not I have nothing to do let's review a pizza spot. So a few of the positives here... the crust is awesome, the cheese, awesome. Crisp is nice and the top and bottom are cooked properly, what absolutely kills the entire pizza...the awful sauce they use. I can't figure it out but if I had to describe it I would say it's like someone took a ton of tomato paste with oregano and garlic powder and jsut put it on the pizza. This place has a lot of potential and maybe I'll try their subs but for pizza, they can literally be the best pizza place throughout Lawrence and Methuen but this sauce is just bad and that's why I am giving this 2/5 stars. I used to ravel down from NH because I have been buying subs from Jim since I was young. Today I had by far the worst Italian sub evah. The meat was tasteless and fatty, cheap meat no taste. So of all things for me to forget was the picture of the actual sub. It wasn't that it was so delicious that I dug in. I like the size you get for the price. I think they depend on the peppers and onions to give it the flavor. I ordered mine without onion and peppers and the meat in it if itself lacked flavor. I use to order from here all the time so not sure what happened. I was visiting from Florida and decided to stop by. I wanted a quick bite to eat to last me a couple hours and this was the closest place. I ordered a large steak and cheese to share with my boyfriend and also ordered a small pepperoni pizza. The pizza was good. Thin crust which is my favorite and the perfect amount of sauce and pepperoni, so definitely no complaints there. The steak and cheese on the other hand was eh. I've had better! I was not pleased.. However, it was HUGE!! Long enough to feed at least 3 people, if not 4. The steak and cheese, barely had any cheese or flavor to it. I had to go home and out some salt and ketchup in the sub to give it some taste. It was a lot more bread than anything else. They were really stingy on the steak and cheese.. This restaurant is awful and I wouldn't recommend anyone order from here. Please don't waste your money on this dump. I first ordered my steak and cheese sub with peppers and onions on ubereats and I got a sub with just steak. I then drove to the restaurant and told them about the mistake. The girl at the front said we got the wrong sub and gave me another that was in her hand. The chef who was making the food yelled across the kitchen to the girl saying that he made a plain steak and cheese for someone else and she messed up the order. I then told him that these mistakes have been happening to me for the past few weeks. I asked a 3rd worker for the manager and he dismissed me and rudely said what's wrong with it? We have been going to Jim's almost to the day we moved to Andover nearly 35 years ago. Fav is the Italian sub with everything. They continue to use good sub rolls which helps make the sub better. Too bad you can't give zero stars. Tuesday night first contact with a person when I ordered for delivery. Younger not so lady with a nasty attitude, told me 30-45 for delivery no big deal. Almost an hour I called to check and rudely was told " we are busy what do you want me to do ". Waited another 10-20 called again and once again this girl rudely tells me " we are busy there's nothing I can do " and hung up on me mind you I live 8 minutes from their shop. Not sure who's worst now her or the old lady who screams at you when you're picking up an order. Been coming to this place since I was a kid. Love the subs, I typically go with the Italian sub each time. Typically I will go to manos for pizza. Jim's does subs well! I can't really vouch for their pasta dishes and other dishes. If you're looking for a big hearty sub that you can eat from twice for a decent price come to Jims. Staff has been working there forever and are knowledgeable. There is plenty of parking, some Covid restrictions but def stop by if you need a good sub! One of those neighborhood institution type of places and for good reason. Their soft stick bread for the cold subs is worth the price of admission alone and the cheese steaks are done right, but my new favorite is the pastrami. I get the fact that the most sensuous of the salted meats is not a staple of most sub shops repertoire. Yeah this NYC Jewish Deli quality by any stretch of the imagination. But Jim's pastrami is salted just right and I take it swimming in mustard and provolone cheese. One of those belly busting type expereinces it keeps me coming back for more. I don't go often because if I did I would weigh 700 pounds. I save Jim's for a special treat. Jim's is my absolute favorite. My family have been regular customers for 50 years. My usual is the large Combination (ham, salami and American cheese) with lettuce tomatoes, onions and lots of oil. The bread is amazing! So soft and fresh. Their meat pie is delicious! I usually buy the whole pie and freeze the slices to heat up in the oven for a relatively quick weeknight dinner with a salad. Their salads are very fresh and are a generous size. I usually get the turkey salad with feta cheese and Greek dressing. It comes with Syrian bread. I'm drooling just thinking about it. read more

In the past, I had a pretty bad experience at Jim's where I received a nasty response from the woman on the phone for asking for the correct order when a wrong order was delivered to me, but after 2 years decided to give them a second chance. "Fool me once ... " My sub took an hour to be delivered and I'm less than 2.5 miles away. That I can deal with, maybe they had a bunch of deliveries lined up, sure, whatever. What I can't deal with is the meatball sub that I specifically asked to be made without cheese had cheese on it. Based on my last experience making a complaint, I just threw my half of the sub away and went to McDonalds, causing me to miss the opening kickoff of the football game I was getting ready to watch upon delivery of the unwanted sub. Ok I'm taking one star off because I have been here many many times since my last review to the point where I think most of them kind of recognize me (that's not why the point is coming off). I have two quibbles; the bread on the deli sandwiches (which I mentioned before) is pretty bad. Bad to the point that I'm tempted to ask for the other bread next time I order an Italian. My other quibble is that the place is in serious need of redecorating on the interior. I understand that they seem to have pretty loyal customers that probably don't care but even Subway looks nicer on the interior (and they bake their own bread too!). A really high quality sub shop shouldn't have any comparison to Subway! read more

Order arrived 10 minutes earlier than expected. Good stuff! I opened the bag and was in awe of the size of my steak and cheese sandwich. Huge! After a few bites I realized I was stiffed a Whoopie. I called 3x no answer, messaged vie Yelp app and still no reply 20 hours later. Sub was great. Great bread, tender meat. I longed for more cheese and peppers, but still would recommend them. I have been going to Jim's since their hole-in-the-wall location on South Broadway next to St. Patrick's Church. They have moved about five times, but the quality has never gone down. I live in NH so don't get there so often anymore, but whenever I am in that part of the state, I make a trip to Jim's just to get some of their sandwiches. Usually get three or four subs and a few salads to take home. They have a large menu, but we always stay with our favorites, Jim's regular with tomatoes, lettuce, and onions, with oil is the best. NO, they DO NOT MAKE THEIR OWN BREAD, but it is the clue to their sandwiches. Next favorite is the tuna, add tomatoes, lettuce, and onions. No oil or mayo, take it as is. You ned a fork with your sandwich, it is packed with tuna salad, perfectly mixed to match with the bread. Don't know what they do to their onions,but they add a real crisp bite of sweet flavor. Third is a CRABMEAT salad. Note the emphasis on crabmeat. This is the real thing, not imitation crabmeat, not a processed seafood salad substitute. I don't know of any place within 50 miles that serves real crabmeat. Real fresh, crisp salad with scoops of REAL CRABMEAT. I usually get lite Italian dressing on the side, hmm, great! The place could use a makeover, but I don't usually eat in there, I care about the food, not the decor. Prices are fair, about $7 for most items. Only negative is the after breath from the onions, but I can deal with that. Give them a chance, you also will make them a regular place for quick, good food. read more

They still have the monster subs they used to. If you need to satisfy a couple of young kids with a Steak and Cheese this is the place to go, you can feed 3 kids on a Lg. Steak and Cheese, it is not the best steak and cheese sandwich, but it is good, and it is a great value. One of my favorites is a Lg. (Cold Subs are not as huge as the hot subs) Combination Ham and Salami, get it toasted and ask for the fixings to be put on after, lettuce onion hots and mayo. Awesome sandwich! read more

This place is meant for Subs. Truely out of the world amazing subs. I think the only thing that makes it exceptional is they are very hearty when serving portion sizes. Especially the meat that they put on the subs :D With an appetite like mine, a half sub satisfies me easily, when fully loaded. I got their crabmeat sub with everything on it. And it was damn goooood! I still have doubt as to how does Jims manage to put real crabmeat (I assume) on a $6 sub and that too loaded. The Pizza is very ordinary. The subs are definitely to go for.
